    The massive weight difference (605 kg as the minimum car+driver weight limit in 2009 versus the current 798) is visibly evident through the slow-speed corners, especially T2, 3, & 6.

      Of course it's feasible to put a V8 or even a V10 into a car, but the problem is F1 tries to appeal to road car manufacturer trends, and the interest now lies in (turbo)hybrid efficiency engines, not high revving V8s.

    • @CDei2013
      @CDei2013 Місяць тому +1

      @pariseri, it's all to do with rules & regs / fuel usage. A V10 would require higher rpms to make the necessary torque & power , however they are capped by fuel flow restrictions.
      In any case, a V4 or inline 4 is likely better than a V6 in terms of the current rpms and power they are currently making (better torque band). Again, they are required to use V6's.
      Note - 2006 to 2013 were 2.4L V8's, a lot less power & torque than the V10's used from 1996 to 2005 ...well in particular from 2000 to 2005.

      You’re asking for more racing and yet the last few years have seen more overtaking than ever before in F1.
      In 2004 the average number of overtakes per race was 15.
      In 2022 the average per race was 35
      Early to mid 2000 was boring af for on track action.

    • @michaelp4122
      @michaelp4122 Місяць тому

      @@jk844100 I'm not saying that everything since 2004 has been downhill, but we are regulating our cars to be slower for the environment.
      Put the same ground effect aero package on a 2004 car, and DRS and even without 20 years of engine developments, that 2004 car would be a superior car, with the same # of passes as modern F1.
      Don't you remember how great those old V10's sounded?

      @@jk844100 So, keep the current 15,000 RPM limit and reliability checks in place.
      2004 cars used to break so frequently because there were no budget caps. Cars used to use every rare metal on the periodic table for fractional gains.
      I have no issue with budget caps to make the cars more reliable, and to limit material to those we can use on road cars.
      So what exactly is the point you're trying to make? F1 would be faster with V8's and V10's.

    • @jk844100
      @jk844100 Місяць тому

      @@michaelp4122 2004 was in the midst of the “cost cutting era” when they were limited to 1 engine per race. So in a way there was a soft budge cap back then, and they couldn’t push all the time because they had to do the whole weekend with 1 engine.
      And the point I was making is that I don’t care about engine sound.
      Also the current power units are more powerful than the V10s and V8s.
      V10s were about 825hp (could go up to 900hp but risking reliability).
      V8s were about 785hp
      The current V6 power units reach about 1000hp equivalent (850hp from the ICE and 150hp equivalent from the hybrid system).
