i was lucky enough to get a cheap upgrade on a flight from tokyo to amsterdam, it was one of the best traveling experiences of my life
I love business class so much now , I’m addicted to it after 2 trips to Japan from Toronto.

Must follow in the family, Prince Bernhard was also a licenced airline pilot. KLM is a great airline with so many distinctive touches to make the travel experience better, and the food is excellent. Jenever not Genever

I do enjoy all your flight vlogs. They are peaceful and VERY informative. But this is the first time I’ve ever wanted the cutest salt and pepper shaker!
I love the 777-200s and 300s.. Since the 747-400 is not being used a lot by the airlines that aircraft for me is the next best one. I have flown her in my career so many times. Great aircraft!!! Thanks for the video...

Good flight report. KLM have a great reputation and I would certainly consider flying with them longhaul.
I flew with one of this aircraft type last week from ORD to AMS. Very quick and smooth take off!

Awesome video you made of my home airline, looks like you had a great experience. I love KLM’s fairly new WBC product, it is (obviously) so much better than the old one. Despite it being a 2-2-2 layout, the service and kind crew mostly makes up for that.

Outstanding report. KLM really does a nice job of providing unique, high quality services, even with an airframe that's a bit dated. Well done review by you and flight by them.

Thank you for sharing this Flight with us. WiFi on Board can be pretty pricey although I used it when I travelled with my Mum to New York with LH. We send pictures and texted with Family and Friends. The Pass for the whole Flight was around 17€ which is absolutely ok since the Data was not limited.

Continental Airlines (when I was young and cute), now United of course-usually worked the DC-10-30 aircraft in Gold Class......even the back galley at times from DEN-LAX-HNL

KLM Business Class on the Boeing 777 does look really good and comfortable. I have a SkyTeam Alliance account. In the future, I will fly Business Class with KLM and I will be able to collect loads of frequent flyer miles for my SkyTeam Alliance account.

I enjoyed that airport as much as the flight. FYI... I just went to Bhutan and it was incredible. We need you to go there and report on the Amankora and the Six Senses resorts newly oopening. I stayed at a place called Nak Sel Resort and Spa and it was very nice too. Please get to Bhutan soon. You will LOVE it!
update, we now opened Terminal 3, which is SUPER HUGE, it's the new one

Good report. I have been on the SWISS flight to Zurich that departs before the KLM to AMS. Might try KLM. They are the only two from Europe into DAR. Hope the new terminal is open next time I visit.

Your videos are just the best. Personally, I would not pay for wifi on a plane as I quite enjoy checking through stuff when waiting for bags to kill time :)

Great video, as always. I was particularly surprised when you called it the most comfortable business class you've tried. I would have to admit that I took a dim view of the Air France / KLM partnership. I may have to rethink that.

Thank you. Yes, I did not expect a lot but I was pleasantly surprised by KLM's Business Class product. The seat is the same as the one you find on Qatar's A330, Ethiopian's B787s, and United B787s, but the Boeing 777 is wider and so are KLM's seats. It felt extremely comfortable, both in the upright and flat bed position. You need to book yourself in a bulkhead row though to get a seat with a large ottoman. I was also impressed by the amount of detail and design that KLM put in their soft product (amenity kit, cutlery, the little Delft houses as a gift). I will fly them again, that's for sure :-)

By configurating BC in 2-2-2 they put themself behind competition doing 1-2-1 in same type of planes.
Or you like climbing over someone cq being climbed over if seated in left and right rows.
That may be ok cattle class but not done in business class.
By the way they have 1-2-1 in their 787 types.

@@Ad-Lo Emirates business has a ridiculous 2-3-2 layout so avoid their 777 at any cost lol.

Try Some KLM jakarta-Amsterdam (via Kuala lumpur) Its Cheapest Ticket in KLM!
Given that they have hot food that can fill you up, it's better than most of the US lounges already. I prefer this over US lounges' cold cheese platters, cookies, nuts, and bland decor

13:44 - I mostly fly Norwegian Air and they provide free WiFi, but I probably would do it for an hour or so of it costs ;)
I"m proud of my national airline! I just like KLM, apart from the airbus A330
KLM is currently retrofitting their A330s. Should be finished by November.

@@luxurytravelexpert Yes but unfortunatly also in 2-2-2 configuration and with the smaller cabin people prefer the 777 or 747 C cabin.
A good C product in the A 330 has to be in a 1-2-1 configuration,by the way i prefer the 777/747 over the 787 though,
It's overrated to call the 787 a dreamliner,the best of todays market passengerwise is the A 350 or A 380.
John Rooijakkers The 787 is a great aircraft what you mentioned as more to do with airline than aircraft. That's like saying the 777 is uncomfortable because it has a 3-4-3 economy configuration. No! Some airlines put a 3-4-3 economy configuration, so if you want the best of the 777 you stay away from those airlines.

Excellent trip report..really very well done. Good camera work, informative narrative, very systematic..actually, the report is way better than the product. When i had to fly to DAR last years i always refused to fly KLM..your report confirms this point. Really old narrow cabin with little seat pitch..almost impossible to get out from a window seat without your neighbour having to stand up--way below industry standard. And it also proves my 30 year old dictum that KLM is a stingy airline...which is why i have been avoiding them since. Cognac? VSOP rather than XO. And the wine list is a joke for C class...QR and EK spend around 4 times as much for their wines..Again, thank you very much for sharing this excellent video..it makes me feel good that I didnt miss a thing so many years.:)))
Tim Blanks What a totally silly comment. Seems you have no idea what you are talking about. It is very difficult to distinguish brands in a blind tasting. It is extremely easy to distinguish cognacs by age on the other hand. Glad for you to match KLM so nicely
how is it narrow? it's a b777... ive flown first class on many expensive airlines lemme tell you KLM is good for the money with excellent service.

@@hennyvanveldhuizen5976 Just like fan boys will always be fans, even against better judgement. ;) KLM definitely lost the battle with Asian and middle east carriers when it comes to cabin comfort. Seat pitch in KLM economy: a mere 31". Still a 2-2-2 configuration in business while fore mentioned carriers switched to a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone layout with individual pods and a much more advanced ICE. Add mood lighting, a comprehensive amenity kit, stylish lavatory and KLM is outperformed in every way. Just because you're Dutch it doesn't mean that you automatically have to love KLM... And yes, I have flown KLM on many occasions...
Woody I just hope when the dust settles there will be a choice left for the consumer if the those airlines payed a fair wage and did not take money from their governments prices would be different

As a Tanzanian, that airport sucks big time it was an embarrassment, but newly built terminal 3 is due to open soon...

Nice report as always. It would be nice if KLM updated the 777's to the new business class seats, but then I guess you could say that about any airline that has a new product on other aircraft, Qatar is a prime example.
Main course looked nice and a very large amount of good.
People always say its not worth flying in business class for the food, well some are right. For me its more about the personal space and less stress when flying business class, or first. Not because I think the food will be better than on the ground.
Did you manage to sleep on the flight ? I remember you saying you started making your videos a long time ago due to a fear of flying ? So if you slept that's pretty amazing.

I completely agree: for me, the main reason why I prefer Business Class is privacy (and less fear of flying, which I still suffer from). For good food, you need to go to a restaurant, no fly a premium cabin ;). I wish you happy and safe travel! What are your next destinations?
All is well with me. I just did an around the world trip last week, flew LAX-DFW-SFO-LAX-HNL-HND-LHR on a vast mix of airlines, so taking a break now. But it was fun.
I still don't enjoy turbulence (EVER) I'm fine with everything else when flying, but its just the feeling of really rough air that makes me have a few more glasses of wine on a flight, people think I'm mad as I fly all the time, but its true.
I hope your future travels are enjoyable and I look forward to more reviews.

About the WiFi. Yes I am, buying it. I fly frequently a Delta Airlines, but it is not free.
Have you ever flown KLM business class on the 787. It is much better than what is on the rest of the fleet.

You haven't tried luxury until you've tried India's The Oberoi Udaivilas, Udaipur hotel. Check it out! It won't be a waste of time, although I can't speak the same for value because the value and grandeur are both great! You'd have to judge for yourself!
I am visting India in 2019. The Oberoi Udaivilas is very high on my bucketlist :)

I don't buy WiFi onboard. It's a waste of money on short flights. But on long flights, I would do it.

a great video, but it clearly showed the problem with 2 x 2 x 2 seating the shot where your neighbor was asleep the way he was sleeping there was no way you could have got in or out of your window seat without waking him. The actual seat was ordinary if you compare it to the 1 x 2 x1 pods on Emirates.

Binnenkort gaan mijn partner en ik de vlucht AMS - SIN en later DPS - AMS via SIN nemen in Business class met KLM. Valt het aan te raden, wat overlast betreft van toilet, galley en/of economy om in de kleinere cabine seats te reserveren? Dat is wat ik soms lees maar op jouw vlucht lijkt het beter te zijn :-)
Ik vond de kleine cabine perfect (voelt heel erg prive aan)

Looks a lot like United’s pre-Polaris product.
Actually, the seats and layout are identical to United's Dreamliners, but the B777 is wider, so the seats on KLM's B777 are wider and more comfortable.

I believe the meal (supper) was served on one tray because we departed at midnight. I actually appreciated that everything was served at once, so we had more time to sleep.

have you asked the passengers for filming? In The Netherlands you are NOT allowed to take a photo or video without asking. You may get into a big problem due the privacy regulations. And since you are on a KLM plane it's technically Dutch territory. Did you know that, Mr. Luxury Expert?
So what , make a video in any public place and people should expect that someone will film them. You can't sue millions of people. If you don't want to get on camera you better stay home. There are surveillance cameras and smart phones everywhere.

Thank you. KLM is very dangerous airline. They cut costs everywhere, extremely stingy and obsessed with parsimony. Service is from the 90'es wich is something 20 years in behind taken in consideration they emphasize that this is all BRAND NEW. Bad people.

Expensive is bad. The fact that they haven't crashed is not the merit. This is not the beginning of the 20th century. As long as KLM exists the whole world aviation is in danger. They are after all a legacy carrier which gives them quite the prestige they're so obsessing about. Furthermore, their unity with Air France up the ante tho a WHOLE new other level. AF is a crappy airline as well all of the time on strikes. Due to the lack of choice both of them are forced to up the prices of their tickets. It is part of the foreign politics of the respective countries to cut air travel and limit the free skies agreements. Reductions on all level. Very Dutch! Very miserable!

I AGREE. KLM is the pinnacle of that in european terminology. In N. America is Air Canada. In S. America is LAN Chile. In Africa Royal Air Maroc. In Asia Air China. Qantas is lost in space and time.
