- I loved Replacer's version of this song, but I've always thought it was far too slow for a high-velocity character like Rainbow Dash. So I thought I'd take a break from writing super epic metal for Moonrise (!) and record a metal / hard rock / whatever version, complete with high-velocity singing and higher-velocity guitar playing :)

I have the biggest freaking smile on my face right now. This is high octane, outta control, mach ten speeds fantastic. It's just like Rainbow Dash and it delivers on all counts. Liked, favorited, subscribed. Keep being awesome.

While I do think that the vocal part seemed a bit too pressing with the added speed, the guitar solo definitely made up for it. One of my favourite solos of yours by far!

Oddly, though I'm often one to critique, I don't agree with the guys complaining about the lead vocals. I generally prefer normally-sung stuff to stuff that's noticeably edited for tempo or pitch, and at this velocity, there's going to be some loss of enunciation.
The singing does seem a bit soft, but it is still supposed to be a fairly lighthearted tribute, so while it doesn't perfectly match the metal accompaniment, I don't think it clashes either.
Still, it'd be pretty rad to hear this with more traditionally "metal" vocals. Raspy hair metal or death metal or screamo or something would be pretty amusing. Maybe I'll try my hand at it when I eventually cover it.
I considered making my vocals more aggressive, but I had a hard enough time trying to sing this without also worrying about trying not to wreck my throat ... *shrugs*
You should totally do a cover. That would be rad. (I'd also love to see someone do a full-on death metal growling cover. That would be even radder.)
Yeah, there's a very refined technique in doing tough metal singing without ruining your voice. You nailed the high notes though.

Is anyone else reminded of Metal Harbor from Sonic Adventure 2 from the guitar part at the beginning of this song? I don't know why, but I just get those vibes from it.
Awesome cover! I really like the instruments and the backing vocals ("Rainbow Dash fly"), but not quite so much the lead vocals - would it sound weird if you put the former two together?

All I can think of to improve this is if you'd take a few more takes on the vocals; not to perfect your diction, but just to make them sound smoother and more natural. I hate to suggest it, but some vocal editing may not actually be amiss.

I know you've probably got your next project figured out but, if you had the time, would you be able to do a cover of this song? Nightmare Night (Original by Forest Pain) It'd be interesting to see you take on it.
I'm not sure what I'd do with that song. It's already metal, and there's no obvious hook or melody I can turn into a guitar riff.
I guess it would be more of a vocal cover. I like Forest's voice, but i think it sound a bit too nasally.
sonix431 Eh, when I do a cover I prefer to do something very different to the original. Besides Forest Rain is probably a better singer than me :)
(Also I'm probably going to focus on original material or maybe another Symphonic Metal Tribute for the time being.)

This version is about 20% cooler!!
I think the vocals would've been better if they were gutteral like death metal singers.... otherwise it won't go with the song, and it'd lack any feeling, just sounds like they're trying to say the lyrics as they can without anything going into it.
