The limitations on the sp1200 is what makes it dope. It only has 10 seconds of sample time so you have to get creative when making beats. Its not same as making beats a computer where you have basically unlimited memory and can sample whole songs. On the sp1200 you had to speed up records or use hi speed dubbing on a cassette player to catch as much of the sample as possible to save memory. Then you had to pitch it back down to normal speed. The pitching down of the sample made the sample sound dirty and gritty but this is what the sp1200 in famous for. Most of the younger generation of beat makers these days wouldn't be able to make beats on the sp1200 because of the 10 second sample time. But as I stated earlier the limitation is what forced you to be creative. Im glad I still have mine.

i know this comment is old but also note he used the sp for drums. alot of the music if not sampled or if it was remade was live music. he could play guitar or they had i saw once some black guy playing bass i dont know what his name was. but yah alot of live instruments as well as the sp. what a great producer. also j didnt make most of pacs songs, live quad made alot of pacs good ones. theres to many producers to name. but j made alot of the famous sampled ones that were kind of more pop. especially on all eyez on me which would prob be the most famous album
