I learned rolling from Gerd Kleinert ('65s World Champion) in the late 70's - It's so refreshing to find a YT video series that focusses on the important bits that really help! love you guys
These tutorials are really really good. Thanks a mil, using these I've sorted out an issue that has crept into my roll. Nicki has such a elegant roll action !!
Like your 1st video, this is fantastic. In fact, right at 04:42, with some students, I've basically been going right to a hand roll - before putting a paddle in their hands! - I've found this is especially effective for newbies who've come to winter pool practise but haven't paddled much yet...because they're not used to how a paddle works, it's mental overload handing them a paddle. Arguably, the most important movement in rolling is this 'hip snap'...once that's dialled, you can use a paddle, or hand roll. Getting them to 'lay' on the surface of the water, rotate with the knee, etc. - then the paddle comes in, super slowly...and yeah, you often have to back up a couple steps. Great, great video.

Without doubt the best channel for not only rolling lessons but for anything to do with kayaking.

Good detailed steps on rolling
Thanks, it’s been 20+ years since I last rolled. I’m definitely going to need some pool time.
Age is just a number, do what you need to do and get after it. All the best
