Like the guy's definitely not perfect and he's uh.....he's definitely done some questionable things *cough* decapitation *cough*, but I feel like people give him too hard of a time. I still think it's overall a good thing he doesn't have that shield anymore though.
Tony didn’t say “That’s my shield” in Civil War. He told Steve he didn’t deserve it because his father made the shield & he was helping the man who murdered him & his wife. I get Bucky was brainwashed & shit but, he wasn’t wrong.
Tony calls Bucky "The Manchurian Candidate" when he asks for a truce, a famous classic movie about a man brainwashed to do things against his will... and yet Tony still blamed and tried to kill Bucky, even though he knew Bucky had no control over his actions and that Hydra are the ones that killed his parents.... Bucky was just the weapon they used. If someone stabbed your mother, you wouldn't swear revenge against the knife they used, you'd swear revenge against the person who used the knife. Bucky, in this scenario was the knife, hydra were the actual killers. Tony _should_ be smart enough to realise that, especially after using the Manchurian Candidate movie reference towards Bucky.
I believe Sam helped Bucky by thanking him for his help as back before Steve got the serum that’s what Bucky’s main purpose in life was. To help Steve. He has missed being able to help people and in turn has lost a big part of himself. Helping Sam rebuild the boat has re instilled his ability to help, and probably helped him more than anything.
It would be pretty cool if Walker's shield gets damaged and dented as he's fighting and in the final confrontation with Sam, they'll hit each other with their shields and Sam's real shield shatters Walker's shield. Or they'll throw their shields at each other and Sam's shield cuts through Walker's shield and knocks him out.
@@kaisteven5907 even if walker is stronger, all it means is you're throwing a weaker shield with more force against a stronger one. Throwing chalk at a brick wall harder doesn't break the wall.
As a New Orleans native, it was an incredible surprise hearing The Meters legendary rendition of Hey Pocky A-Way during that Bucky/Falcon boat repair montage. Never thought I’d hear Mardi Gras music in the MCU. :)
I wonder how much of that is them paying attention to Anthony's background, too. The fishing and the Nola references really seem to be just Anthony as much as Sam.
I think John was just too Ashamed to tell lamars parents that his killer got away. He always seems to be under pressure to be the best captain america.
The way vi see it, the serum brings out the real you. He ran around acting like a sad puppy saying that being Cao was an honor and pretending to be humble. But once he starts going on mission he starts abusing the title yelling "Do you know who i am" and introducing himself as Captain America whenever he can. Then when he gets the serum he literally attempts to murder someone while yelling "I am Captain America" even yelling at his superiors and going as far to make his own shield and turn to vigilantism. The way I see it it's showing that deep down he wanted this, he wanted the power, he wanted the status, he wanted the respect. That's why he was freaking out after every time he got his ass kicked pre-serum, he can't handle the notion that he, as Captain America, can't gain respect.
@@nvcomics He acts the way he was trained and told to aspire to be. And now he is told that the way he was trained (which got him 3 medals of honor), isn't the right one, basically realizing his whole life was for nothing. That's radicalizing him. The nuance in his storyline is just amazing.
@@disabled_director I think many people are ignoring the nuances in his characterization and just see him as a villain. I think as of ep5 they are still clearly writing him more as an anti hero like he was in the comics. But who knows, considering they changed Agatha Harkness into a straight up villain maybe Walker’s going to snap more in the last episode and go on the villain route (which I don’t want, it would be a waste of a complex character).
the whole gun thing is kind of like a really cool therapy exercise. like writing a letter and never sending it, he gave himself the opportunity to kill and made the active choice not to. what a beautiful way for him to prove to himself that he’s not a killer anymore. one of the best moments of the show for me. really affected me.
Fun Fact! The briefcase Sam receives at the end of the episode is a reference to Pulp Fiction, which also features a briefcase containing John Krazinski's Mephisto! Amazing!

The editing was GOLD today! The high heels transition to Zemo, the dude getting punched by the busby guard cutting to shocked crowd, MWAH!! I'm not even 5 minutes in!
I just realized something about Zemo. In Civil War, he tried to kill himself, but was stopped by T’Challa, after his “mission” was complete. In that scene, he listened to his voicemail for the last time, remembering his family. In this episode, he was at the memorial thinking of his family. He was testing Bucky, believing he would either kill him, thinking he hasn’t changed, or hoping he wouldn’t kill him - meaning he had eliminated the future super-soldier possibility by crushing the vials, and trusting that Bucky would eliminate the remaining super soldiers (helping him complete his mission). But Bucky betrayed this by bringing the Dora, and turning him over. He may or may not have even expected that, going so far as to be sent to the Raft so he can get a team together. The prime evidence of this would be that he picked the best way to get Bucky to make the decision to kill or not, thus going against his programming as a killer - having crossed his own name out of the book, after Bucky had already told him he would kill him if he ever touched it again. Bucky felt redeemed as the ex-Winter Soldier, and he redeemed himself with the Wakandans, even though they said to stay out of Wakanda for a while. They did give Sam a new suit. Go Shuri.
@@lonewandererfo3 Ayo literally says, “It would be prudent to make yourself scarce in Wakanda for the time being, White Wolf.” Right at 20:33, my dude.

Carl Lumbly was soooooooooo chill-inducingly GOOD when he had the scene with Mackie about the legacy of the shield and how the goverment treated him. And i got chills when he mentioned Tuskeegee, but then again, i love a good story with a well-used historical allegory!
They shite earphones anyway. A man of such high esteem as captain America wouldn't indulge his well earned US dollars on such an inferior product. He would obviously use his unexplained skills as a blacksmith to make his own red, white and blue earphones
I think he'll become U.S. Agent and probably reluctantly team up with Sam and Bucky. Then they'll probably set up like a West Coast Avengers who really knows.
I doubt they'll make her a cut-and-dry villain. Getting Batroc involved is a good way to set him (actually both of them, Carli too) to be captured, which was part of Falcons mission in the beginning. What better way to find a villain than to send him right to the people that want to catch him.
*Hot guess:* The finale episode is going to open with how John Walker got his three medals of honor. He referred to them as three things that only serve to remind him of the worst day of his life, but that's all we know.
So I'm not the only one, was actually expecting that when all the lights turned off. Would have been a better cliff hanger for a penultimate episode than just sam looking at his new suit
I think Mason is 100% right about John Walker needing to be liked. As far as I can remember (I haven't checked because I'm not a top Australian sandwich chef) he's only ever talked about wanting to be a hero, not about wanting to save people.
@@TheEvilCheesecake It was Lemar who said that then John agreed. To clarify though, my point isn't that he doesn't care about people, or is a showoff or something. Not sure if that's what it sounded like. My point is that there's this slight difference from Cap that gets amplified over the course of the show till it takes him over.
I’m glad we got to see Sam have a one-on-one talk with Isaiah, very powerful moment. Both this show & Wandavision, along with it’s respective cast & crew need to be nominated for emmys, golden globes, bafta, etc. They really delivered and especially during these turbulent times, whether it’s filming during a global pandemic or the great deal of unrelenting civil unrest in our society.
The reason Sam is good at shield tossing with Bucky is because they're playing catch and pretty casually. They're standing still and just slowly lobbing it back and forth between each other. When he's on his own he's running, flipping, using that stunt double who's on Corridor's channel a bunch...

I loved the "I am Captain America line". It really shows the contrasts of John Walker from Steve Rogers because Steve never referred to himself as Captain America it was more Tony Starks that would call himself "I am Iron Man" a character that contrasted Steve Rogers as well
Steve did refer to himself as Captain America at least once, when he rescued the POW's. Soldiers: "Who are you?" Steve: "I'm, Captain America" .... "It's ok I've knocked out Hitler over 200 times" Why does no-one who brings up Walker referencing himself as Captain America ever bring up that scene?
@@SA80TAGE Because it happened only once and it was for the sake of the soldiers. Steve wanted to give them hope, so he was like: "yo, I'm Captain America, that new supersoldier, I'm gonna get you guys outta here, so do not fear".

Yes I get the point of the contrast between Steve and Walker doing it constantly because even a child could understand that and that is the very obvious point of it, but that doesn't change fact Steve still did it, even if it was just once... that is not "never".
the thing that stings the most is that when Walkers buddy died and the mother was hugging him saying "how he would be so proud of you for getting him justice for the man responsible" or something like that..... BUT IN REALITY IT WAS WALKERS INABILITY TO WAIT AND BE PATIENT RUSHING THE ROOM THAT TRIGGERED THE ENTIRE FIGHT LEADING TO HIS PARTNERS DEATH.....
When Walker was sitting outside his discharge meeting with his girlfriend, I can't believe that the Corn on the Coblin met with them! Handed them her card and everything!
Evidence for -Nando's- New Rockstars missing plotline theory (please add more) : The show is only 6 episodes long (I'd say they cut out about 3 episodes worth of plot and couldn't reshoot) The general lack of a legitimate avenger-level threat posed by the Flag Smashers The lack of any detail whatsoever on the GRC Sharon not having anything to do (most of Sam contacting her is ADR or screen-replace stuff) The shield training scenes being swapped around (I think the tough-love scene was originally the last scene in the final episode) Zemo having a sudden change of heart off-screen and giving himself up (again originally the final episode) A missing scene with Bucky's broken arm being fixed
Sam was just tossing he frisbee around casually with Bucky, a light catch during conversation. Then he started doing flips and going hard after when they both understood he was ready to Captain it up
The contents of the briefcase is that weird plant in wakanda that gives you super powers. So Sam becomes an amalgamation of captain America and black panther
Sam and Bucky throwing the shield was like two guys having a chat while casually throwing a ball back and forth. Sam's montage was full combat speed spring training.

I was going to say, when he "lied" to Battle Stars family it probably wasn't a lie to him. He probably thought that dude holding him back was the reason for Battle Stars death there for he was responsible (at least in Walkers eyes) but....... Mason's point about him potentially just wanting to be the most liked person in the room is very interesting. That may very well be the case. ...hmmmm
I feel like he was also in a difficult spot. You're already telling these people their son died, you don't want to also be telling them the person who killed him is at large.
Part of the reason why he's going after Karli is he feels he owes it to them.

Tony didn’t say “That’s my shield” in Civil War. He told Steve he didn’t deserve it because his father made the shield & he was helping the man who murdered him & his wife. I get Bucky was brainwashed & shit but, he wasn’t wrong.
But he was also, in fact, wrong in a few different ways.
@@ExhaustedWombat Lol I wouldn’t say “fact.” It’s a matter of opinion, & I respect yours.
@Thomas Whieldon just like Wanda thinks stark killed her parents.
Bucky gives a smirk at Sarah when she introduces herself because Steve's mother was also named Sarah

When you finally realise Captain America's protege is literally Uncle Sam...
What now I realize that.
Lol.
real life uncle sam is also called sam wilson
Agreed. I don't think he wanted to admit their son's real killer got away.
@@nvcomics He acts the way he was trained and told to aspire to be. And now he is told that the way he was trained (which got him 3 medals of honor), isn't the right one, basically realizing his whole life was for nothing. That's radicalizing him. The nuance in his storyline is just amazing.
I see it as a promise. He's basically telling them that Karli is as good as dead because he's never gonna stop until he kills her.
I can't believe that John Walker started to construct the Mephisto-Buster Mark 1 to fight John Krasinski with.
Honestly I'm here 50% for the content and 50% for the amazing editing
What you may not know:
John Krasinski’s Mephisto is, in fact, what is staring Sam in the face from inside the crate.
Hot scoop or scoop of poop?
Mephisto is the power broker
Fun Fact! The briefcase Sam receives at the end of the episode is a reference to Pulp Fiction, which also features a briefcase containing John Krazinski's Mephisto! Amazing!
The crate contents are the same contents in the brief case in Pulp Fiction.
I really liked, how Craptain America badly hammered some rings into shape, then welded together absolutely flawless rings... also, then noticing he didn't know how he would get a clean paintjob on them, so he cut them back apart to spraypaint them individually ^^

Go Shuri.
They Dora Milaje literally told him to not be a stranger and visit them...not to stay away

John walker is obviously going to go after Sam and the flag smashers....but not before he gets himself a brand new pair of Raycon earbuds!

That is the stuff. That is The Stuff.
My favourite part was when Karli called Batroc “George”.

I doubt they'll make her a cut-and-dry villain. Getting Batroc involved is a good way to set him (actually both of them, Carli too) to be captured, which was part of Falcons mission in the beginning. What better way to find a villain than to send him right to the people that want to catch him.
she's playing both sides, so she *always* comes out on top!
*Hot guess:* The finale episode is going to open with how John Walker got his three medals of honor. He referred to them as three things that only serve to remind him of the worst day of his life, but that's all we know.

As far as I can remember (I haven't checked because I'm not a top Australian sandwich chef) he's only ever talked about wanting to be a hero, not about wanting to save people.
He mentioned how many lives the serum could have saved in his Middle East deployment where he earned his medals.
@@TheEvilCheesecake It was Lemar who said that then John agreed.
To clarify though, my point isn't that he doesn't care about people, or is a showoff or something. Not sure if that's what it sounded like.

Soldiers: "Who are you?"
Steve: "I'm, Captain America" .... "It's ok I've knocked out Hitler over 200 times"
Why does no-one who brings up Walker referencing himself as Captain America ever bring up that scene?
@@SA80TAGE Because it happened only once and it was for the sake of the soldiers. Steve wanted to give them hope, so he was like: "yo, I'm Captain America, that new supersoldier, I'm gonna get you guys outta here, so do not fear".

Evidence for -Nando's- New Rockstars missing plotline theory (please add more) :
The show is only 6 episodes long (I'd say they cut out about 3 episodes worth of plot and couldn't reshoot)
The general lack of a legitimate avenger-level threat posed by the Flag Smashers
The lack of any detail whatsoever on the GRC
Sharon not having anything to do (most of Sam contacting her is ADR or screen-replace stuff)
The shield training scenes being swapped around (I think the tough-love scene was originally the last scene in the final episode)
Zemo having a sudden change of heart off-screen and giving himself up (again originally the final episode)
