    One of my favorite Lady Gaga songs! ❤️ I really liked the red glow effect with this one, so pretty and fits well with the song 😊 I remember watching a bit of this show to see Natalie Dormer, but I stopped watching a few episodes in. Maybe I’ll give it another try in the future.

    OMG! Mary I is also my favorite historical figure and why didn't they call Henry "Bloody Henry"? Mary didn't deserve to be called that, and she killed less than three hundred people believe it or not. She sentenced two hundred and eighty-three people to death. She is so much fun to explore and I love her.

      They call him the Tyrant King instead, but bloody would have suited him. Mary was not even given the moniker till a protestant writer who was against women ruling stated it in his book. Not even during Elizabeth's reign they were negative about her. Agreed, I've had whole conversations about Mary with people and some even said I was bonkers for saying she's my favourite historical figure. I'm happy to hear we both love Mary and want justice for her!

      @@TudorDarknessYes, those people have no idea for sure how horrible and difficult her life was, and she coped with it all bravely and alone. They ask me if I'm crazy for loving her, when I talk about her people sometimes call her a witch because she burned so many people, but they can turn on Henry. He should have been bloody. I mean, why shouldn't I love a person that no one loved like Mary?

      @@user-te6vy1tc8i Exactly, but I think most people forget how everything changes through time and how rumours or something that has just been written by one person could affect someone's status for good. Who asked you that? I also met people who hate her, but recently I've only met other supporters (luckily). A witch? Such bogus. Agreed, but tyrant is also a good title, don't you think? You're not alone, I also adore her, she's my absolute favourite! And I will stand my ground if I have to, just to defend her legacy.

      @@TudorDarknessIt was worse than some of my friends calling her a "witch," trust me. I love Mary too, and whoever dared to say something bad about her, I would tell them about her life just to change their minds. And yes, the tyrant nickname for Henry is OK, but it would be really nice if someone called him bloody.

      @@user-te6vy1tc8i Do they even realize she was a Catholic? She cannot be a witch. So your friends are against her? Were you able to change their minds? He was bloody but he certainly also was a tyrant.

    Mary had nothing to do with Anne's death, if that's what it was meant to be

    • @TudorDarkness
      @TudorDarkness  13 днів тому

      It was not implied as her being responsible but Anne's presence and death did affect her life in different ways. Deep down it must have felt like a relieve to Mary when Anne was executed. And looking at Mary's response to Thomas Cranmer during her reign it was clear she had not forgotten about Anne. We do not see Mary as a villain, even though we did use this song, we see her as a victim who also made mistakes due to the pain she suffered + let's not forget it was a different time, burning heretics was quite common. People often seem to forget that.

      Agreed and weren't her father, grandfather and siblings a bit bloody as well? It was a different time and people would often lose their lives while being innocent (Margaret Pole and Anne Boleyn for example, although I think Catherine Howard was also a victim. Yes she was guilty but she did not deserve to die because of it. She was young, too young to be married to a man Henry's age).

    I feel bad for her she was the true heir but her father was being sexist push her aside for a male heir made her into a servant not saying I support force marriage but I’m surprised she wasn’t married off especially when she was around that age granted it’s not big deal now to get married and have kids later in life but back then people died young it seem like she wanted that when she finally got married she was 37 which is really late in their time plus having health issues didn’t have medication and birth control to help her people paint her bad while yes she wasn’t innocent Angel but Elizabeth wasn’t innocent Ann Boleyn wasn’t innocent no one was

    • @TudorDarkness
      @TudorDarkness  Місяць тому

      She indeed was, but she lived during a time males were considered as "stabler heirs" and since the Tudor claim to the throne was anything but stable her father because obsessed with an heir. Henry's fears, lust and also the accident he was in made him into a despicable man. But he did love his children, it's hard to believe, but he did. As I said it was a different time and he did arrange several marriage proposals for both his daughters, yet the deals were never "sealed". And Edward was too young and his regents were against Mary's religious perspective, so by the time she could finally married she was indeed already considered old. And she even married a man who never loved her, while she did love him. She must have had a lot of heartache in her life, which also changes people. True there wasn't any medication and there was some sort of birth control, but let's just say it was anything but common to use. The condom they had was to prevent syphilis from spreading, instead of preventing children to come into the world. And the condom wasn't made of material you would like to wear. Agreed, but who was an innocent angel back then? You did what you had to do in order to survive. Life at court was a big game, as quickly you could rise, you could also fall down. And the fall often went quicker than the rising part.

      @@TudorDarknessI know! I read articles about her on the internet and they said how disgusting she was because she executed Jane Grey, but they didn't even mention that Mary was supposed to be queen but Edward disinherited her and put Jane in charge. If he hadn't done that, Mary wouldn't kill her. She should have ruled by right. They even shamelessly say that she killed more than three hundred people, while she killed fewer, around two hundred and eighty-three. They portray her as a villain. They call her a cold and religious villain, until they go into detail about her life and show her in the wrong light. Injustice is still being done to her today and that is not right.

    • @TudorDarkness
      @TudorDarkness  8 днів тому

      @@user-te6vy1tc8i She did not want to execute Jane but had to in order to pursue a marriage that was needed to continue the Tudor line (but unfortunately failed). Edward was also a protestant and too obsessed with religion (and being an athlete). He seemed to forget Mary was always there for him and literally did everything for him. But no he wanted a male protestant heir, but there were none so he went for Jane and "her future sons" instead. Apparently he also did not care about his father. Tbh I am not a fan of Edward, but since he was young you could mainly blame his regents. He was guided in the wrong direction. Luckily the Tudors shows a different side of her and so does the film Lady Jane, where you can see she's genuinely upset after Jane's execution. But there seems to be a new series about Lady Jane and I hope it's historically accurate and does not put Mary in a bad light, like they normally tend to do. Too frightened to check it out. =[

      @@TudorDarknessI know, I hate it when she is portrayed in a bad light. Yes, Mary had a big heart and loved all of her family, except maybe Henry and Anne Boleyn as her stepmother, and she took care of Edward with a purpose. And it's true for the regents, they led him down a bad path, but he was similar to his father in character traits, well... Mary is the BEST and so is Elizabeth, but Mary has a special place in my heart.

      @@user-te6vy1tc8i Yet they often portray her like the villain, although I've noticed some change the last year or so. Before that I kept getting negative comments. Exactly and she did love Henry, it was stated she cared a lot about her father. Every child longs to be loved and once you have to fight for it you crave even more to it. Like my cousin, she also craves for the love of her father, yet he has never given to it to her and she's an adult now (and still craves for it). So I think Mary tried to do the same, doing everything she can just to get his love and respect. Anne she did hate, she thought Anne was to blame for how her dad responded, only to find out it was not Anne's fault after Anne's execution. True, she did (and she also cared about Edward's mum, Jane, who gave her back a part of her grace). Exactly, and he indeed was because Henry also let Wolsey rule, hehe (sorry but it does seem like Wolsey had a lot of influence on Henry's life for a long time). I love Mary the most, but I also care about Elizabeth. Who also suffered a lot because people hated her mum.
