  • Day 5 of my across Australia EV road trip and we made it to Perth!
Good morning Merredin and WA Wheatbelt!!
Another early start and Twig is ready to go.
Not only is she the best EV model, she also makes an excellent hot water bottle in the swag, as it got down to 2 degrees.
All showered and now enjoying the seated heats.
Quick and easy 260km to Perth. Found a random charger in a shopping centre to top up and also booked an Airbnb for the next two nights.
Drove through the city to beautiful King’s Park, full of people enjoying a sunny Sunday. What a lovely day to be out west!
Visited my university and high school to reminisce, before we arrived at the Indian Ocean at Scarborough, where we found the perfect parking spot to watch the sun set into the Indian Ocean.
So many EVs getting around Perth, including half a dozen P2s spotted. Tomorrow is a day off road tripping before we head north up the coast.

How do you not have more subs?? Awesome content. Proving the point - charger anxiety is for the incompetent.

That is good for time, 5 days to Perth, you'll be done the loop before you know it at that sort of pace. Mind you probably have limited time off from work though as well so understandable. :)

@@TassieEV heya - thanks heaps!! I’ve got five weeks off work so I reckon that is just the right amount of time without pushing it. The EV record is 10 days, and ICE record is 7 days, but I’m not that sort of crazy. Hopefully I can do a little sightseeing along the way without deviating too far off the main road.

The Midland Grove charger in Perth is an NRMA charger. It was originally an ARENA grant charger awarded to Chargefox but when Chargefox divested themselves of all charger hardware then grant and build was transfered to NRMA.
The reason the charge rate ramped up was that it was initially amp limited and as the pack voltage grew during the charge for the same amp limit you got more kWs. P=VI
As the battery reached its SOC current limit the current then decreased and you saw the kW/power ramp back down.

Did you see Tom latest video, he went to the Polestar Artarmon (NSW 2064) grand opening?

How do you afford a trip across Aus? Did you quit your job and living off savings?

@@hathspider9763 hey there! No not yet, I took five weeks paid leave, also my style of EV travel is relatively affordable by sleeping and charging at campgrounds.
