Really enjoyed this video. Can’t believe I’ve not watched it before. The find that jumped out for me was that KLF album. You never, ever see that one in the wild. Such a shame that they can’t reissue in the original format. The recent reissue with a lot of the samples taken out loses so much. All the best, Steve.

Thanks Steve I didn't realise the reissue was different. I was considering selling my copy and buying the reissue but won't bother now. Cheers Dale

Some lovely records there: a few wants. Gentle Giant, West Coast Consortium and Deviants. Any psych single or vertigo swirl album is a major score these days. I get the thrill of the chase thing too, but never do car boot sales. From what I hear, the dealers are normally first round and it just doesn't seem worth bothering, but your 10 years of freezing, dark mornings has paid off. No pain, no gain...

Hi Alan, you don't need to do car boots with your success at charity shops. I never get anything from them. Take care Dale

I had guitar lessons from Kerry Minnear when I was about 14-16. Never having played a musical instrument before I was a bit of a slow starter, he said to me early on "you're not one of those mirror posers are you?" 😁 Amazing player (so clean and precise) and a thoroughly decent bloke. Very modest too as he never mentioned his band. He probably deserved a more committed student but I did get better... 😉

Lucky break in choice of teacher. I've recently picked-up their second album (not a swirl though) and really enjoying it. Cheers Dale

Do you remember the “car boot sale” song from the Steve Wright show on radio one back in the 90’s? 😂👍

I went through a phase of regularly visiting boots and charity shops and not once did I strike anything, let alone gold!.For me, this notion of finding gems at a shoestring price is pure mythology. That said Dale, theres ' no denying you're tenacity and I admire that, so well done you!.😉👍

I think if I calculated the time spent, I'd realise it isn't paying off. Cheers Dale

Hi Dale. Chill Out is a totally amazing concept album and I'd never part with mine. You have to be careful though as there are very good fake copies around which were even sold to shops at the time. I heard a rumour someone 'accidently' left the machine on overnight and sneaked them out. Whichever way at least you have on vinyl. I also have The White Room but don't play it even half as much as Chill Out which has a real timeless quality to it. Cheers, Martin.

Thanks for the tip Martin. I've just had a look at Discogs now and think mine's genuine. Cheers Dale

WOW, Dale! If I said I had some heat, then this is straight Fire!! I'd be happy with just about any of these indeed - og Dark Side, Deviants, yeah all of them. Serious coin for them too. As you say, it's not about the coin, it's all about the thrill of the chase. I often feel like i'm panning for gold, and you go through a ton of silt for a speck of gold. That's a decade of gold you have!
Thank you for pointing that out at the end - that it's a long and often fruitless pursuit - something I forgot to say in my video. I'm up at 5:30am and digging by 6am for these, and 9 out of 10 saturdays are a wash. Thank you also for shouting me out, very kind of you. I really hope your car boot sale starts up again, at least for summer! Cheers- Dean

Hi Dean, yes if I ever worked out the return on my time, I'd stay in bed...but then someone might get that Vertigo swirl next week...cheers Dale

my most valuble record came from a red cross shop in the late 1980's for 50p, it is introspection by the end in stereo, i took it to a dealer at the time who had a what they are worth book and he said at that time about 80 quid, i said i will wait until its worth a ton and move it on, i never got round to it, it is worth much more than that now.

Wow! I have a reissue of Introspection but I've never even seen an original copy before. A very good album. Cheers Dale

Amazing finds Dale, particularly Gentle Giant. Incredible to report but I've still never bought a record from a car-boot sale.

What is this VG bloody + all about? it drives me mad. Surely that makes it Excellent. Surely VG+ is the same as EX-, where does it end? EX++ is therefore better than mint, thats not possible.

Thanks for the comment. It's a minefield, especially as the US and UK seem to have different systems. If I recall, this video was value according to Discogs and they use VG / VG+ / NM / M steps. Me I use both VG+ and Ex for my collection! But I suppose as long as I know the difference...
