This movie was made for those who love movies, and it was great! I absolutely loved it! The actors are fantastic, the direction and cinematography are phenomenal, the music is memorable (I hope it gets the Oscar, it deserves it). The script was chaotic but so powerful and moving. I loved the characters, especially Margot Robbie's character who I really got attached to. This is the very definition of a movie that you should see in theaters. It's a raw movie experience.
I loved that whole scene except the pan across the audience's faces. That was sappy. Everything else was amazing. Seeing the T-1000 and Jurassic Park clips, the older clips from Bunuel and Godard and Kubrick....the dye process and the jazz score in the background...that brought tears to my eyes.
It’s all I ever wanted from a movie. I went to see it with my girlfriend and she didn’t like it because there were a few scary moments (snake, crocodile), but as someone who studies film very broadly at college, I absolutely loved it. It’s a piece of film history, and it tells us a lot about film history and the film industry in general; the actors were great and fit their roles perfectly and it’s just so meaningful and profound that you can’t really put it into words, especially the scene at the end, where he sits in the theatre. People just need to see it for themselves 👏 I’m still in awe

The music score was amazing that went so good with the movie. Overall I liked how different it was from the usual. This movie will be famous in a few years.

It’s definitely not a movie for a mass market but I loved it. The pace of movie was perfect so I didn’t get bored for 3 hours, the music score was top notch and actors did brilliant job.
The editor should cut the Freak show part with Toby to make it under 3hour.. I love Toby, but the part of the story was not the crucial story. I head many of the story were facts but it doesn't mean it must be there if the plot flow in a faster pace, it won't loose the audience. I remember another long movie that was able to capture audience and wanted more with various sub stories, the pace was just right and was not disconnected. If you haven't seen A VERY LONG ENGAGEMENT, you have to see it, Jody Foster played a window and spoke French in this moving WW1 film, which also launch the careers of Marion cutier, Audrey tutor, the late Gaspard Ulielle etc
This was such a different type of movie but I actually ended up enjoying it! I usually hate movies that are interpretive with loose plots but this one was awesome.
Such an incredible movie. I went to watch it without reading into it or watching the trailer, so I did not know what to expect. I laughed so hard, felt horrified, wanted to dance and was left mesmerised all in 3 hours! Haven't seen a film this good in a long time. I am still thinking about it and definitely going to watch it for a second time in the cinema.
1:27 this was such a breathtaking moment! The whole movie was an excess, but with such beauty and joy. And I will be forever thankfull for the last sequence of the movie!
This movie deserves all the best! Extraordinary, exotic, passionate, chaotic, charming, trippy, tragic, and so touching... It will open like a good wine - with years. Movie for cinema lovers... BRAVO!
You either love or hate this movie, but i am confident that it will become one of the best classics in the cinematography. Fantastic movie, with memorable characters, dynamic cuts and fantastic music. I do not understand how I have missed this in theatres.
Petit commentaire en français pour montrer que nous aussi on est là, et pour clamer tout l'amour que j'ai pour ce film qui d'après le plus grand de ces 10 dernières années. I don't normally comment, but I feel like I need to defend this movie. It is such a shame it has such poor reviews. Seriously??? This is what I think can be called an art. It is a masterpiece. 3h was a little bit long but everytime I thought It is going to end it gave me another unexpected scene and change of event. It made me to want more. I was so so impressed. The actors played their parts so well and music. Oh man. I still listen to the soundtrack. I left cinema feeling excited. I'm not saying this is the best movie ever seen becouse for me it is and always will me Matrix (so deep analogy of life) but if someone asks me about my favourite movies Babylon definitely will be there. But as someone mentioned, it isn't for masses. It is for people who appreciate the art as it is. Thank you x
FILM!! A brilliant execution of what life was like in Hollywood in that era! SHOT ON FILM! Babylon is a must for anyone who loves movies! My own award winning documentary film, 'The Difference' about film, shot on film reminds us that only film can capture the emotional feeling of light.
Babylon is a fantastic and gorgeous masterpiece made by passionate madmen that filled this movie with all their love and adoration! I’ve never experienced watching such movie before! Thank you from the Eastern Europe!
Amazing movie. Saw it for the second time a few days ago. Better than the first time I saw it. This is what movies are supposed to be: pure entertainment and a million miles an hour in your face.
☺ Not surprised US and Hollywood critics did not like it ! When you do some research, it was EXACTLY like that. That movie is a precisions masterpiece 😍😍
I really cannot explain why this movie wasn't bigger and didn't receive the attention it deserves. It is so so good!!! I've seen it 4 times in the span of 2 months and I am going to rewatch again and again. For me, it's a masterpiece.
In Argentina too. Unfortunately "Avatar" and "Puss in boots" are way too strong competition. Movies for adults like Babylon have been struggling post pandemic with ticket sales. I went twice in a week to see Babylon. The first time only 25% of seats occupied, the 2nd almost half the room filled
It's a real tragedy that this MASTERPIECE didn't succeed at the box office. Fuckin shame really. Every single frame of this movie is outstanding. This is LaLa Land meets Wolf of Wall St. meets Boogie Nights and it's the BEST movie of 2022. Bravo, Damien Chazelle.
Now, I understand what my life would have been like in the early years before EDM. 1996 - 2009 relived 1925 - 1930. What an epic movie. Casting, location, music, wardrobe, sound, script, and the team that made this possible you are undoubtedly masters of our time. Thank you ❤😊
tbh I wasn't going to go see this....was at the theatre to see creepy doll movie Megan but it got too crowded. Ended up going in to Babylon nearly an hour after it started so I missed - quite happily - the elephant poop and orgy . And what i did see, that remaining 2 hours and 20 minutes or so...... I thought was FANTASTIC. Was it insanely OTT? Well yes. But it was also just a magical trip into the past and then into the future. I kind of saw it as a really bittersweeet love song to movies and theatres, how short our time has been together and how the advent of streaming is killing the cherished ritual of attending a film in a theatre (alone in the dark with a roomful of strangers, as Roger Ebert said)
It’s easy to get lost in all the chaos this amazing movie brings, 20’s film making, the inner times, sex, drugs, love, mystery, the true emotional connection movies are suppose to bring. A true classic and one of the best cast 5 out 5 star movie.
The very final minutes of this film which were of fast short clips of famous cinematic events throughout time... all the way from the 20s up to current times... I felt the impact of that. But I do wonder how Damien chose the last few scenes of more recent films. I saw quick scenes from a terminator film, avatar and I can't remember the others

@@djangowest1754totally worth it. I’ve seen it twice. I understand the criticism as it doesn’t adhere to a typical structure that people are comfortable with. And because it doesn’t have a traditional love story arc or “then this is what happened” narrative, I think some people were maybe a little surprised by it, since it stars very safe and bankable movie stars.
