- My Father-In-Law and I install the Retrax Tonneau Cover on my 2021 F350 Super Duty.
I chose to buy the polycarbonate top this time since it’s a single piece and less likely to leak than the metal one with individual slots.
I also chose to install it myself because the local installs tend to be rushed and therefore leak. - Спорт
Cutting the tube at an angle to fit into the hole. So simple, so helpful.
I was thinking about doing a self install with a retrax unit I ordered but after watching you two guys I think I will pay the 100 bucks for the dealer to install it. 😂😂

Looks like you had a good day working together my son and I just installed one on my pickup it was purchased through Ford and they supplied the rubbers for the bed with the holes pre-drilled for the drain tubes. Many Blessings to you guys!

Did yours come with a locking rod system? I have the same model you have and it didn't come with one and now I'm noticing the right side on the cover (looking from the back of the tailgate) its not evenly closed specially after driving for a bit.
Thanks very much for posting this video, I have a 2022 F350 dually coming and am curious how the tonneau cover is holding up for you. Not sure if you tow a fifth wheel but if you do, wondering if you have ever had any clearance issues between the truck rail bed and your 5th wheel ? Also, any issues with water leaking into your truck bed ?
Hi Mark, it’s honestly been great. I had the more expensive ReTrax cover on my 2018 Raptor and had some leakage issues, but that could have been because I had it installed by the place I bought it. Installing it ourselves allowed us to do the little things to keep it from leaking like pressure on the side rails, etc. We’ve had some storms since installing and everything stayed perfectly dry inside the bed. We do have a 5th wheel and it clears just fine. Hope that helps!

You mentioned you have a fifth wheel. When retracted do you have plenty of room for the trailer to swing around when making a tight turn. Thanks.@@familyelements4805
Yes, it clears perfectly! And it’s great once I disconnect because I can close it right over the hitch when driving into town.
I wonder if the housing for the retractable cover differs in size depending on the length of the truck bed 5-1/2, 6- 1/2 or 8 ft. ?
Yes, I believe they have different kits for different sized beds
Been debating the polycarbonate top vs the aluminum top. I don’t need the extra weight rating of the aluminum model. Main concern is keeping the bed as dry as possible during rain/snow. Appreciate any insights.
I’ve had both. The polycarbonate has held up well. The aluminum leaked, but probably because I let someone else install it. The aluminum is nice, but gets hot in summer.
Did you guys even read the instructions? You made it much harder than it really is. But alk in all, good video on the install process.
I think we were so worried about getting it water tight, we overcomplicated some of the install. It is water tight though!
What did y'all do with the bottom bolts on each clamp? Mine keep walking down the bevel of the side of the bed.
I just screwed them until they hit the bed, more for stability it looks like.

Not when the back window is closed. Definitely some rattling when it’s open. Doesn’t bother me though.
