The other benefit of having two verticals which is mainly what I use them for is that it shoots a perfect right 90 angle. If you’re laying out walls and you want to pull off of control lines this makes it much easier. This does away with the 3-4-5 or 6-8-10 method to achieve a perfect right 90 angle.

I read in the comments of your last laser review that these cheap levels don't have the repair and maintenance back up of other top brand levels. My DeWalt laser went out of level and my local DeWalt dealer said it would be more to have it recalibrated than to buy a new one. If these cheaper levels are accurate and give a reasonable service life then I think they look like a good option. Cheers.

I remember a review of a Huepar laser level which had the same magnets that the Kaiweets has now. Maybe Huepar took the criticism of the magnet system to heart and now uses better magnets on the newer models. Maybe Kaiweets will upgrade the magnets after seeing this?

Another plus of having two plumb lines is that they should create a perfect 90 degree square which comes in handy for setting out or checking the square of the room etc.

    Hi Alistair
With the horizontal magnet configuration if you roll the laser through 90degrees do you still get horizontal and plumb lines ?
    Another informative video
    Thanks

Ah... good point no the laser will actually only be level if placed the right way up!

Hi Alastair, Just subscribed to your channel. Really enjoying your informative videos. Great work and! Just a quick question to you if i may?. Do you know if The Leyland Acrylic primer wold be compatible with farrow and ball estate emulsion? I know farrow and ball urge you to use their own primer but i happen to have the leyland Primer already. Please let me know your thoughts. Many thanks. Rob

Hi Rob thanks for your interest in my channel and I’m pretty sure it would work ok, I know I have used F&B estate emulsion in the past and it’s quite likely we just stuck with our standard primer at the time. I can’t guarantee it though, and I do remember getting poor results with certain other paints/paint combinations, which led us to stick with what we know and to use complete paint systems where possible (originally Leyland/Johnstone, now sayerlack). I also decided never to us F&B paint after realising it is really quite a poor quality paint! It has a tendency to remain tacky for a long time. We always just get the Sayerlack mixed to the colour.

I purchased one of these and got a lot of use out of it so far. But now one of the two batteries has stopped charging and having no luck getting a replacement the battery from Kaiweets. There is a phone number for China but I don't speak Chinese. So from my experience don't expect Kaiweets to actually honor the Warranty.
I wished I had just stayed with DeWalt.

Thanks for letting me know this, it’s hard to know what the service will really be like until something happens. I have heard better things about Huepar

Hi Alistair I was wondering if you could tell me how to sell a product say a table to the public without having to make it and then sell it. I guess what I'm asking is say i wanted to build a custom table business but don't want to build a table and then try and sell but for people to ask me to build it. I know this may be confusing to read but hope you understand what I'm getting at.

Hi Mark, well I suppose that is the model I've been doing all these years (except mostly fitted not freestanding) - finding customers who are willing to pay me to design and then make something to suit them. I suppose it all comes down to marketing - making your target customers aware of what you can offer and encouraging them to choose you. This usually starts with getting your foot in the door by doing projects cheap for whoever you can find, then getting good photos of them, advertising them (social media, website, print media etc), and building on that. We ended up in fitted furniture because I reasoned that it is easier to demonstrate the added value (bespoke desegn and installation). Making your name as a freestanding furniture maker from a standing start seems a lot harder.

Save the pain and get the Dewalt DCE089D1G hands down the best laser on the market. Super rugged, amazingly powerful rare earth magnets, batteries last forever/the whole working day, plus if your already invested in the dewalt battery platform interchangeable 🤘what’s the warranty or dealer network like for these cheap Amazon lasers.

The downside of these lasers is definitely likely to be less aftercare. But at less than half the price... you can see why people would risk it.

I’ve been using the Dewalt in Boston razors for years now. I remember getting the Bosch laser bob years ago when it first came out. I bought a Huepar about two years ago after seeing some reviews out of curiosity because I’m a bit of a tool nut. It’s a 3 x 3 60 model and I have had absolutely no problems with it at all. There is an added benefit to their lasers as well they can easily be recalibrated without having to send them off by simply removing the three towers and dialing in a small brass Allen Bolt that calibrates the pendulum. I’ve been in The construction industry for 22 years and work for a government contractor here in the states and I would honestly recommend a Huepar.
