I have heard this masterpiece rendition of the Star Spangled Banner and it never fails to give me goosebumps. No one could do it better than she did. One of the best performances of all time, no question.
What's truly otherworldly about her voice is the amount of resonance she carries in her mid to upper belts. A lot of people can hit B4s and C5s like nothing, specially her contemporary divas but NONE, let me repeat, NONE have the same amount of full and perfect resonance as Whitney. It's not heady, it's not chesty, it's not throaty, it's not nasal, it's not twangy, it's not muffled, it's truly perfect. I cannot even imagine how many overtones and undertones she could hit at the same time to sing like that. It's honestly, frightening how NO ONE can do this. I believe that this is absolutely, not just about vocal prowess or training, but rather, something that she was born with. My brain is trying so hard to understand the amount of fullness in her belts, specially those B4 and C5, but every thought appears blank. Whitney's existence makes no sense. She's not the standard, she's the exception. Edit: You aren't lying. You aren't. I was trying to think of someone, but nope. The National Anthem sounds like a Whitney song in every sense of the word. I'm on a Whitney Star Spangled kick the last few days. Just found you. It is so hard not to burst into tears listening to her and this. And it's not about this country or the song It is ALL about her. The audience reaction at the end says it all. Absolutely MAGNIFICENT. She even looked at one point, smiling, like she knew what she was giving them. Every single person that was there will NEVER forget that moment of their life. Whitney was a queen. A legend. A gift. I love her.
I don’t care what anyone says, no one compares to Whitney, vocally and she was just simply stunning, wish she’d never danced with the devil, jeeeesus I had tears in my eyes listening to that, the best ever rendition of that, she was doing vocal acrobatics before that was even a term
Every morning, before I go to work, I play the video of Whitney's rendition of the National Anthem, with my hand over my heart, watching this beautiful lady put her talent and soul into the song; she seems a little nervous at the first, but then her smile starts to beam. and you can tell she loves the moment.. As she finishes so gloriously, both arms in the air, a tear will slide down my face...I'm an old lady now, but I was 30 when Whitney hit the music world...Lord, I miss her so.
At her best, no one-past, present, or future, will ever top Whitney in her prime. The purest, most beautiful voice ever on this planet. I’m so happy you did a reaction video for this song. So many people do a first-time-viewed reaction, but you are like me. Even though we’ve seen this (at least 300 times for me) before, my reaction is still like a first-timer. How can you not react to the most beautiful singing in the world? No matter how many times you’ve heard. This still gives me chills and makes me emotional. I was 10 when Whitney performed this song. I still remember Momma damn near running (like having the Holy Ghost in a Deep South Pentecostal church) saying “Nobody will ever top that” and my father laughing and laughing (because he never had the words for expression) just being mesmerized by what we’d heard. I’ll be 40 soon, and I still can not get over it. Again, so glad you stepped out of the box and didn’t have to hear this for the first time, or act like it was the first, but still made this reaction video.

The people in that stadium absolutely erupted because they KNEW in that moment they had heard the greatest of rendition of all time. I don’t think it will ever be done better.
I wanted to say my previous comments were before I heard anything coming out of your mouth. Whitney was simply one of a kind. We are all poorer for her passing. She still is the target of every generation of singers that have, and will, come after her. I'm just glad we have these moments of brilliance left behind. So we can pause our flights of fancy thinking this singer or that new singer might.........no chance, no way, no how. Thanks again Brother for all you do to get these videos to us so we can slow our roll and refresh the TRUTH!!!! Much love and I do remember.
