I’m a retired Registered Nurse with 30 years in healthcare, but aviation has always been my second “love.” These NTSB folks are tasked with some of the worst aspects of life: the hows, whys, and wherefores of violent death. But what they do is so important to future safety improvements, etc. God bless them and God bless the families of each of the decedents. Also, God bless each aviator who takes to the skies daily. Safe travels, all.

Just when I thought there is never a stupid question, I listened to the Q&A and just face palmed.

Where is the first Media brief?

Theyll be looking at maintenance, w&b, no fdr on 350i only cvr. Was the aircraft preflighted thoroughly, where pilots qualified.

CVR transcripts become part of the report. The actual audio is never released to the public. It is the last moments of life for these people and that is something for just the professionals to hear. Not a pleasant task.

Is the DR. a pilot? Tail feathers? And all parts of the aircraft where found at the accident site.

HA HA That is standard investigative protocol.First thing done is locating the four corners of the A/C.

Why aren't ALL aircraft fitted with a Flight Data Recorder ?

It is an expensive item. The smaller the aircraft, the more weight is factor in the decision to require this equipment.

I am really curious about the how the environment affected the King Air since it said that it was tested at 59F and takeoff length of 3300'. There has got to be more than that, like the flap settings and the weight distribution. This better not be another Air Midwest 5481.

Not sure, but I heard from some crazy lady that we're all going to die from the environment in 12 years

Anyone have any guesses as to what went wrong?

    • @publicmail2

Yea it lost a tail feather

Total guess but it sounds like loss of control due to engine power loss. If a multi engine rolls (to left) over like described typically the functioning engine is providing thrust while the non-working engine is creating drag. (Since the operating right-hand engine produces a stronger yaw moment, the pilot will need to use larger control deflections in order to maintain aircraft control. Thus, the failure of the critical (left-hand) engine is less desirable than failure of the right-hand engine)

Hell I'm still guessing what happened. The First Media brief isn't there. Apparently somewhere in Texas there was an airplane that crashed, not exactly sure when that happened. Apparently there were some people on it. Didn't say if any of those survived. And apparently the plane had some numbers on it, maybe. And there's the guy who can't figure out how to use a microphone. He seems nice. And there's some other people asking stupid questions... I guess, from reading the comments. But there was no microphone so maybe not. I'm guessing all the facts were in the missing media briefing.

    Who were the owners?
And it's surprising that the plane didn't just roll into the hangar and explode. Great question!
Finally, why are they having parties when people died here?

It did just roll into the hanger inverted and explode.
