Gate to wire, hounded the whole race. One of the great displays of grit and guts - that horse ran on heart. RIP big guy, know you've been missed a long time.
Wonderful to see this again. Great Communicator was my favorite racehorse ever - such a competitor! This was a star-studded field but he just wouldn't let them beat him.
Smallest Horse in the Field-ALL HEART, this was his first race without his Owner, Trainer-Master who would always visit him before and after a race, I know GC just wanted to get the race "over with" because he thought he would see his "Master" again but we know he was "Watching" and he made him proud!!
tizfrreecharm boat race you need to understand what your watching Ray is my Father and I'm a trainer so get some education my friend the rail was very deep and my pop rode a perfect race
Wow that must have been really soft ground because Triptych 4th usually had this final burst which was not there ... that ground looks sticky esp tom Durkin said it was slow pace at the start
Shawn Carter He was Shawn I was 14 that day we missed our flight that night my Pops was a great rider. Him and the trainer Thad decided to ride him when they hit the wire the first time
@@kearysibille1722 you can tell Tom Durkin either wanted Sunshine Forever to win or he had money on that horse because you can tell by the tone of his voice. But what fascinates me is the fact that GC was FOURTH turning into the stretch and came back and got them.

Tougher than nails, he was.
gotta love those pricked ears at the end! He knew he won and he was very proud of himself!
That was amazing coming back on the inside! Wow.
As gutsy a win as you'll ever witness.

What heart. The Breeder Cup Turf is probably the most competitive of all the cup races.
I had Triptych, but GC's race and Tom's call at the end were what made this boat race memorable

3-3-83 -- 11-5-90
Wow!! What a fighter!
Talk about hart he was not going to give up that lead to anybody
I remember when there was no BC and it was horrible. This saved the sport.
Ray literally had GC under a ride the whole race. I know he was tired.

And all of my years watching horse racing, never saw a horse at a 1/12 mile do what he did. His performance should be more appreciated.
Great call bad video
