So said Ernest Hemingway, and if you want auto racing at its purest then you can't go wrong with rallying. F1 and NASCAR drivers may do their business above 200mph, but the men and women of the WRC do their stuff without a safety net, threading 300bhp through narrow country roads. It's driving as tightrope-walking, and a discipline that's far removed from other forms of motorsport.

I've played this game a little, so I am yet to make a decision on if it is good or not.
Put it in the developers' point of view, they have to work hard to make this game. Of course there are limitations to the game, but try to appreciate their hard work.
I'm tired of seeing comments of people who clearly have no idea how they came up with the game or how to make one of these specifications for that matter and criticize it. Make a better game then and stop whining!
Just bought this game & its wicked , very happy i didnt let the premature negative comments sway my decision .
After playing the full game you can really tell tht the Demo was a REALLY old build,
theres a lot of improvements on the full game.
even that Finland stage is different, the first half is the same But the 2nd half is 100% different
@theakillersand1 dirt2 is not a rally game actually thats just game but the WRC FIA can play more serious.
@beliacosrallyfun CMR is still one of the best rally series ever. Although, the first DIRT was pretty darn good too. You're right about DIRT 2 though, it's fun, but no simulator.
with the dirt series, I agree to a point, they bring together both, in a sense, it is a sim, in others it's and arcade racer, which I would call a arcade simulator, or simulation arcade, lmao, but still Dirt series is some series fun and so it this, none-the-less
V rally 2 for the ps1 was the greatest game ever!! If you don't believe me then search it up.

That crash at 3:11 should have ended the stage and the bushes seem to not slow the car down. I am still looking forward to this when is the USA release ?

@zippL0ck But most players are casual players, not hardcore die hard players. Do you think they would want to play a stage over and over again? I know I would try to master the car, but I need to know the difference as well. The advantages and disadvantes. To not get used to one car until you find it hard to drive another.

No, its not repetitive , because unlike road racing games , each go on a stage can be very different and it requires a lot of practice on each stage if you want to start shaving those seconds off.
All i meant by playing it over & over was that that theres a lot to master, so you need to play a stage over & over to find out just how far you can push the car on each corner and how best to take the corners, like how much acceleration you need to slide around a tight corner Etc
IMO one of the best games to play with steering wheel ;)

Yea, i got the feel from many early comments that they played the demo a couple of times and then made up their mind, but you have to get good with the car and on the stage before you really start to enjoy yourself, and it takes quite a bit of practice and lots of focus to get good.
it sucks that its hard to get hold of in America, i've heard a few other Americans saying the same thing.
I'll keep my eye out and let you know if i hear of anywhere you could get a copy from.
is wrc 2011 out yet? only ever played an old rally game i think the original wrc

That was perhaps uncalled for.
I just mean that They took Colin McRae , i.e a game that was a true rally game loved by many people wanting that proper rally experience & gave it an American touch, sticking in truck racing and huge jumps Etc, & less than 20% of the game was actually true rally driving, i.e point to point racing.
They need to take it back to what it used to be, it was an extremely popular game as it was.
I seriously miss the ps2 wrc evolved developer (Evolution Studios) they make motostorm today. it's a shame that they got degraded to motostorm

Yeah i felt the same way about that , its a pity they didnt put in more stages but i still enjoy the stages there are ,
and i agree it's probably the best rally game Ive been on .
Its just good to have a proper rally game again , its been a while since we've had one .
I really love how one part of the engine can be damaged and if its not fixed in-between stages it can effect another part of the engine, it makes you have to give some proper thought to what you fix.

You gotta realize that they don't care about tiny details like those.. This game is ment to be a rally sim. So what was important was how the car drove and felt. They want to make the driving experience as real a possible, anything extra is just that, an extra bonus.. Better to have a game with amazing feel in the driving than a game that is all pretty and perfect yet the driving (which is the main focus of the game to begin with) sucks..

@snowsurferbs9 Agreed. Two many driving games have become cheap and arcade-like. Take the new Forza installment - it has a fecking rewind function while racing?! Our only hope for a decent driving game looks to be Grand Turismo 5. -
But back to the topic!- My favorite rally game was - colin mcrae rally 2005. I think we will be waiting a while for the "perfect" rally sim that has cool realistic crashes, and the ability to go off the track or the wrong way without resetting the car automatically.
for me, this game has better driving experience than dirt2.
if this game has better graphics, it'll be unbeatable. (nature balanced it, sad.)
AI level? You are using manual or automatic gears?
Amazon US has this listed for a Nov 30 release. If it really plays well who cares about the environments? Not like you can notice while tail out at 80 mph.

@zippL0ck Yeah dirt was a real spoiler. Colin Mcrae 2005 was a proper rally game. Shame codemasters started to be all arcadey just like other developers.

Good game, drives great
I guess it has alot of content, but gfx looks just too bad. They could have some imitation of water or debris on windshield after you blast through some mud hole. And it's great to see more dust behind vehicle, but end of it follows car like TAIL, just like in rbr. Gta 4's smoke disperse much better in giant open world.

@ickerHun Trust Me Alot Of Adults Play DiRT 3 , and no offense cmr4 is an old game ,unrealistic and is like the same thing as Dirt 3 But Dirt 3 has better graphics , more realistic and has that gymkhana track , i am saying this because Cmr 4 doesn't give that feeling like your driving a rally car

if you like rally... you'll like this game, its a VERY good rally game,
forget that Americanized crap that is DIRT2.
If youre the type of person that sticks with it playing a stage over & over & over & over until you have totally sussed the cars handling on that surface type & track ,
then you'll love this game

Went back to this game recently and once you get used to the game its very similar to the incredible wrc 2 game that came out after it. Does it feel realistic or not? well i can't comment on that as i'm not a real world pro rally driver, unlike many of the other Real world pro rally drivers who added comments to this vid.
Buy yourself WRC4 which basically is a facelift of this one with the newest tracks and cars and with some major improvements techically. Graphically speaking it's a real nice improvement over this one. And yes, it kinda feels much more realistic than the arcady handling of Dirt. In Milestones WRC games you will actually need to brake a lot and listen to the co-pilots instructions :)

Da.shArk87 Hi pal, The real funny thing about WRC4 is that its the very first rally game to be released that i didn't automatically snap up soon as it hit the shelves. I always bought any driving game that came out over the years but that game (WRC4) was the very first one i didn't bother with. I think i got so fed up with driving games not really improving physics wise that i just thought sod it, i'll save my cash until the game costs £5 in the bargain bin. After Richard burns came out years ago you really would think that by now someone would have released a game to at least match it. One thing i did like about this game is that you do have to use the foot break a lot rather than always using the hand break. I never really played this game when i bought it, when it was released, then through boredom went and dug it out for a quick blast. The thing is far from perfect and you have to get used to strange mechanics of the game but its pretty cool once you get a feel for it. Anyway pal, thanks for the heads up about WRC-4, i think i may take your advice and try and find a cheap copy over on e-bay. Still love the old game WRC rally evolved. Couldn't stop playing that game when it came out. Wish those guys had carried on making the WRC games. Actually thinking about it now i remember another reason i didn't bother with WRC4, because if i remember correctly there were no unlockable classic cars in the game and i'm not really a fan of the modern cars they are using now.
AESCULAPTORmark3 oh man, i know exactly how you feel... I still play RBR with its mods.. And it's still the best sim rally game out there! Codemasters said Dirt 4 will be concentrated into serious rallying but i doubt it will be as close as Mcrae series.. pity!
I dream one day about a studio creating a real sim rally game with todays physics!

Anyway it's a hard game because it's real driving handlings, and I'm suffering to play it on my keyboard coze it's hard to center the car, I think I would do better in real life lol. RBR will put some hair on your chest. I'm tired of these children going on about how great Dirt or CM is. As with the joke that is Gran Turismo with respect to a racing sim, the PC sims are in a different league.

there only a few problems with this game one is the lack of attention to detail on the stages and the few details missed on the rally cars and the anoying fact that the co driver notes are shit for example right hairpi ahead ok co driver so i get to the hairpin and it a bloody fast right hander taken in 3rd or 4th gear what a load of shit the co driver talks on this game i wish they'd take more time to get these problems right

I've been a simulation junkie for over 15 years and I'm heavily experienced in physics development, so I know a thing or two about simulations, and this game is a disgrace. If you want something realistic don't even look in this games direction. The physics are borked. It's not hard to get physics right these days. There is literally no excuse for something to be THIS off the mark. Not with todays technology, and definitely not with this kind of funding. This is NOT a simulation.
I don't know why people just can't get it... stop fucking comparing games, DiRT series have better graphics but they are ARCADE games... RBR have bad graphics but is the best Rally Simulator EVER, I don't know but if this game is simulator too, stop with shitty comments please...Goddamnit
Pretty unrealistic rally feel, the pace notes are crap and cant keep up with you if you drive fast. Pretty disapointing. The rally aspect of the original DiRT is much better...only decent rally game out there, other than the more classic titles like burns rally.

La verdad por lo que veo este juego es escaso en graficos de video, comparado a lo que es Dirt2 o 3. Sin embargo he jugado el Dirt 2 y me parecio un chiste si bien el juego es bueno, no cumple con las espectativas de un fanatico del rally, asi que veremos que pasa con este lanzamiento de World Rally Championship y ojala que sea un excelente juego.
