Love watching your videos. As a former propane delivery driver in snow country I really think a set of chains for both the big truck and the Morvair was all that was needed.
Chains on the truck and they wouldn't needed to call anyone. Used to drive for a plumbing supply company. Chain up the rear and one of the fronts for steering. Better to chain up before getting into trouble.
Yep. Chains for all vehicles that expect to confront ice and slopes.
I was thinking the same thing. That box truck had no business on that road without having a set of chains.
Came here to say the same thing. Chains on that box van and it would have likely drove out. Definitely would have with a tug with the Moorvair. This winter should have taught MOOR to have a tote with gloves and shoe chains in their rigs for employee safety as well.
I'm guessing if this were so to happen the video would be less dramatic, just a guess...
The fact that you guys were able to recognize what you did wrong in your initial prep work. Then you managed to come back and get it out without matt's help just means that matt trained you guys very well. Congratulations team.
They managed to get it out without too much drama either. Matt trained them well.
what exactly did they do wrong in their initial prep work? They didn't know the conditions till they got there and once they got there they did nothing wrong at all. The correct thing to do after evaluating the situation with a first attempt was to come back with more gear... which is exactly what they did.
@@bushmanphotos what they did wrong was not being overly prepaired. I have moved some heavy stuff in my life and thought rope will be good enough after having damaged the stuff that fell off the truck I now only use high level ratchet straps. Now I never move anything that needs 10,000 lbs straps but that's all I buy. This way I know that between the weight of the object and wind I know it's not going to go anywhere as I never move anything more than a couple hundred pounds but better safe than sorry.
@@bushmanphotos :) SO obvious , icy but melted dirt patches and temp was above freezing, dig dirt and spread it on the tires pass . The box truck should have tire chains as standard equipment. I think it was more for video content and play dumb then actual work
@@chestertaylor7341lol so if you’re not prepared for every single possible situation, they did something wrong?
Ya'll should add a set of real truck tire chains to your recovery kit. Chains on that truck and 85% chance it would have driven out on its own. Either way, awesome work as always
As a Canadian who's watched a fair bit of Highway through hell, yes this. I don't live anywhere near those mountains, but those chains are definitely needed for rough terrain.
This was painful to watch!! Such an easy job.
Chains don't exist in utah
Would have most likely worked
The snow on the road reminded me of the little we used to get in Worthing, like, once every 5 years. My dad put snow chains on our car, and it wasn't long before they were worn half-way through. They were grinding on the tarmac underneath the snow. Still, maybe that's better than black ice, I don't know.
Once again Lizzy and Rhett stepped up and tackled whatever challenge was in front of them. Nice team leading by Jefe, too. I hope Carter's elbow is OK. I broke the end of mine off in a fall where I landed pretty much the same way. It took two surgeries to get things back to normal.
He’ll know better next time than to walk down an icy slope with his hands in his pockets haha
@@DavesW . A lesson best learned early in life when you heal better.
That's a pretty cool trick with the soft shackle around the rope... Where'd you learn that?... 😂😂
I only learn from the best!
Jefe is a very very good leader when Matt isn’t around. He is calm and collected and doesn’t take huge risks unless absolutely necessary. When Matt is gone the team is safe with him around
Matt just does too much micro managing lol and gets frustrated easy
Like a boss....
Something about Jefe makes uncomfortable. Something about his face. Might be nothing, he might also secretly be a monster, I don't know.
The least experience driver in the most dangerous place , told him to aim for spot where it stopped JUST feet FROM going over the side. jefe needs to go before he gets somebody hurt
@@davedonaid7346 He told him to aim for the ONLY spot they knew could stop the truck. Feel free to point out another spot to aim for...
There’s a lot of talent and work ethic with this team. Matt wasn’t there physically but his influence and training showed every second. Nice work!
Matt stays warm by thinking warm-weather-thoughts😏
Boy Lizzy has come a long way! What a difference from when she started. Jefe and the crew did an excellent job. I can see why Matt can leave the shop to do what he has to. He has great people to do the job. Nice work!
Damn, that was a bad fall that Carter took. Lucky that he did not break anything, it sure did black and blue quick! Hope that he has recovered fully by now.
That's what happens when you have your hands in your pockets
He should go and get it looked at tho. Having a fractured elbow or knee cap sucks
@@rachaelworley590 agreed
"Snap back to reality, whoops there goes gravity"
Youngsters bounce.
I thought they got a lot of snow and ice in that area; but nobody seems to think much about sand and tire chains and such...
One thing to note about those kind of Wheel chocks you need to drive the vehicle onto the pad to lock them into position. Kicking them at the front of the tire does nothing for them.
17:20 that’s a life lesson right there. Whenever there’s a chance of falling, hands out of pockets! Hopefully you’ll only need to learn this once 🙂
only took me one lesson and a bloody nose. Hands always outside of pockets.
Yes sir ! That’s what I say . He will never do that again.
Helps both balance and catching. Sprained wrist is better than a concussion, on the catching end. Balance of moving hands and arms to offset can make fewer falls.
He probably had his phone in that pocket. He needed to save the phone.
broke my elbow in a fall just like that... i hope Carter's alright, elbow looked swollen a bit

I'm glad to see that you got some wheel chocks now if you run a chain from the hole in the front of the chock up to the bumper it will double the staying power for winching.
Nice recoveries, just a tip from Norway where we are used to icy roads... snow chains!
Get some custom snow chains for the Banana and Morrvair, I bet that the Morrvair could have done the job alone with the traction studded chains would have given it.
matt having a proud dad moment. one day he will be the ol timer hanging around the shop watching them do the jobs he used to do
Sometimes you don't know how bad it really is until you get there. Then you find out you "need a bigger boat." Great job.
You guys did a great job!
I'm the kind of person who is always trying to think of ways to improve things no matter how well it's already going. It seems like there could be some sort of chaulk system that moves forward with the big truck as it gets pulled up the hill. Or get some tire chains for the big truck - the cost of chains is nothing compared to what a disaster could have cost. That way if anything happens - a winch or winchline breaks, or the banana slides off it's chaulks, etc, the big truck with Rhett inside doesn't go back out of control off the edge possibly pulling Lizzy off too.
Also, if you look at the banana's chocks, they are designed so you drive ON TOP of the flat part, to set the chock down into the ice AND so the tire is up against the highest part of the chock. If you just kick the chock toward the tire, it's not going to be nearly as secure, and you have A LOT at stake here, so it matters.
It’s great that you add info for people going to the Wrecker Games like places to stay. Also I love the “subtle “humor you have doing the recoveries! I have a passion to watch and can’t wait till the next videos are posted.
I'm sure Matt is extremely proud of his entire crew for always stepping up to any challenge.
For God's sake, it's UA-cam.
And what happens when the camera isn't rolling.
MATT can't be every where. He has employees. Matt expects his team to carry on? Like any other company. So what is different? Any of you hatefs have built a business from the ground up? Click your croks
@@defresurrectiondo you run a business? Let's hear your excuse?
I love how excited Lizzy was when they were successful. Shows how truly invested she is.
A set of chains for the box truck would have made things go easier. Would be good to carry some in the future to make all vehicles in the recovery more useful, even the stuck vehicle if its operable. Well done guys... Carter, quit playing pocket pool on ice and keep them hands free. You went down like a penguin 🤣
They don't believe in chains
When has a thing called "work" ever been so much fun? Great to watch you guys "at work".
Nice job to everyone. ..I might chim in on a thought for larger trucks worked evertime for me with openings in the wheel. I made up 2 short chains with 2 hooks each one for both sides. Hook one end in the hole then run the chain over the tire and hook the other end in the same opening. Don't run it through the one with the valve stem. Used to deliver feed. It works great even on my semi. Keep the material comming I enjoy them greatly.
You guys did a fantastic job, Matt can be very proud of the team he has around him. Jefe and Lizzy are great at working together to solve any problems, then getting the job done! Congratulations to all of you!
Was it Rhett that said, “ Why do we work on summer vehicles in the summer and winter vehicles in the winter?” 😁
Well, the roof doesn't need repairing when it's not raining... 😁
Well that is how life would have it I'd think
I remember that!
I should've tried one of the Veyo pies when I traveled multiple times through there while working out near Ely, Nevada. I traveled from near Page, AZ and stayed in Ely for a week or two before going back again. That was an awesome recovery video..
Great job on the last recovery, but I think it might have gone easier if you came back in the evening and had a crust on that snow. That sun was making a mirror out of it!
Wisconsin winters have taught me to carry a bucket of wood ash for traction, works every time!
As a Minnesotan I was thinking, "They need wood ash." all the way up that icy hill. But then I thought, "They'd never have it with them when they needed it."
Mor vare needs a set of chains for jobs like this. I never ran chains but there were many times i wish i had a set wheeling in the mountains. Great video guys stay warm and be safe everyone
yes chains may have been the ticket the first time for them.. they are still learning just lioke matt did great job either way!!
Chains on the box truck would have been a good solution.
Yes, with tire chains they could have just drove their truck right up. They're pulled it up a little bit So they could have rolled backwards to put them on.
Great Job ... One thing that I learned about steep hills and Ice is to carry two sand bags filled with masonry sand ...
When you spread some out over the icy areas it makes the hill safer to walk and gives that big heavy truck traction which would have made it easy for the recovery team ...
Thanks for Sharing!
I may have grabbed a couple 50lb Bags of Salt to melt a path up that Ice covered Hill.
Ice Melt - northeners like to throw a few bags in their Pick-ups for weight & occasionally for traction.
I think that job would have been much less scary with Ice Melt.
Very Happy to see Y'all Get It Done Safely!
Excellent Job!
That was a very sketchy recovery I am so glad you young people did it.
You all succeeded
This is a great channel, one I've watched for a couple years. Despite all the expertise, two items have long been troubling...1) Lack of eye protection in the shop. 2) No chains for snow/ice.
This recovery provides another example of #2. Even with winch extensions, in the time it would take to winch over 100 feet, chains would be on, and the job done. For really short patches, the chains could just be draped on the ground (like MaxTracks). With chains, you'd also be ready to pull far further than winching permits. PLUS, you'd reduce risky events like Hefe's dicey 360 from occurring. The costly alternative here was to take multiple days, trips, and vehicles to achieve the recovery.
If I may make a suggestion; go to your local cabinetmaker and get a bag or 2 of planer dust, preferably from hardwood. And when your slipping on ice like that, sprinkle a little on and in front of the tire. you will be amazed at how grippy it becomes. I've had a small bag in my vehicles for 40 years and it's gotten my but out of pinch many times.
So proud of how far Lizzy has come from when I first started watching this channel. That shy timid little girl has turned into a real strong team member. Love watching her interactions with the rest of the team. Especially Matt. Great Work Guys! You have reached the point in your training that the boss can now direct his concentration towards other needed tasks with the relaxed feeling that he does not need to be there for his crew to get things done. Now keep in mind, its Matt. He may not NEED to be there but knowing him he will STILL be there anyway.
You people make my day! Tell Lizzy to make up a go bag with everything she needs. 🙃🙃
Seems like she never has gloves.
Wow that truck rescue was exhilarating to watch, the first rescue by Matt confirms my belief that he definitely drinks antifreeze every morning. 😄
Explains why his snow gear usually is just a short sleeve shirt
This was a wrecker job!! Great job to the crew for working it out!!!!👊🏻
My favorite man !!!! I really enjoy the camera work you're doing Jonah !!! Peanut and Ed Probably out at the gold mine Thanks for watching !!!!!
Gooooooooooood MORRning everybody and thumbs UP to Matt and crew! 👍👀
Hell yea bruh!
FYMF
If I was in that situation 'i would have brought five or six buckets of sand and spread it out. Works to get our concrete trucks up steep hills when we pour floors in the winter. However I do not live in the mountains, I live in hilly area, but not mountains.
Another great video, love watching these videos so much.
Do you think they could find sand?
Hahaha 😂
Cat litter or quicksorb works well, and is light to carry.
@@russbell6418 have you ever got kitty litter wet,
It turns to sticky clay mess,
Worse than mud.
Or a set of chains on that truck
Yeah sand helps alot.
Try tire snow chains for those missions
It really saves time, effort and fuel, as well as more safety
All the snow jobs and no snow chains. Chains front and back on the recovery rigs would make such a huge difference.
I think you got the title to this video wrong, should have been "My Crew Is Amazing" Jefe is a leader, thought things through and knew when to stop. Brought back the proper stuff and got it done. I think Lizzy is capable of the same thing. Great video guy's and gal.
Veyo pies are awesome! I took a detour home this week to pick up a Strawberry Rhubarb pie! 😋
Nice recovery. I think y’all could’ve just used snow chains on both rigs. It would’ve provided a safer, smoother, and quicker recovery. Just some food for thought. But, y’all did great, it was fun to watch! 🎉
Or better still the truck should have had chains (if it had them I couldn't see them); I mean I'm sure a set of chains would have set back the roofing company a lot less than the cost of a 2 day recovery charge.
I believe tire chains on the box truck would have been a game changer, a tree railer on either side of the drive axle and tighten the cams to the point you think the tires will pop if you go much tighter.
Tire chains and you could have drove that truck right up that hill.
Don't worry Lizzie you can forget your sun glasses and your gloves. Just don't forget the customer's keys!
I'll share some advice for icy jobs(as long as you're allowed to salt) Using animal feed salt on glare ice is basically instant traction. I've grown up on a small farm in upstate NY on a hillside. It only takes a small amount of feed salt thrown down to get traction. They probably could have driven that truck up by itself using around 30-40lbs of fine salt! It looked to be around 300ft and it doesn't take much salt when spread correctly!
Only works in some situations but not all situations! salt melts ice and creates water on top of the ice which is not good for traction.
@@iffykidmn8170i don't know @ feed but I've used salt/deicer many years on my TWO wheel drive on half mile steep driveway with curves, always worked, except in mud. Yes, "They probably could have driven that truck up by itself using around 30-40lbs of fine salt! It looked to be around 300ft and it doesn't take much salt when spread correctly!"
@@kevinbogart9737 I/we will typically spread around 100 semi loads of road salt over the typical Mn winter been doing so for the last 25yrs, guessing we need to start trying fine salt instead. thanks for the tip.
I watch all of the recovery shows and I can honestly say that Matt does have the very best entertaining show of them all.
Everyone on this program is likable, happy and fun to watch..
This is a testament to how well Matt treats, respects, and trains his employees. Great jobs all around!
It is entertaining content. It was a good recovery since nothing went over the bank. Only 1 hand in a pocket at a time.
As a man that lives on a hill like that, the winter brings challenges. Sand, dirt or stove ashes on the ice and tire chains. The UPS truck even chains up when the ice arrives. Self reliance is all I have.
"You have to be pretty healthy to eat this bad." - Matt 🙂
The QUEEN of Matt's off Road Recovery " LIZZY " !
Your team needed this. Dad has to leave the nest a time or two for them to experience their own situations and fail a time or two before getting it right. They can’t learn without failing.
Amen to that!
You have taught them well. They are very confident and professional. Great team raised by a great man. Hats off to you Matt. You deserve a little vacation time. Even if it is rescuing more vehicles.
You guys did a really good job. Hi Carter, I hope you didn't hurt yourself worse, as you could see it hurt like hell. Get well soon boy.
Matt should always carry V grip tire chains for all four tires for snow recoveries.
Please never change your video editing style. It’s perfect every single time.
Good to have a crew that can GITRDONE while the boss is away!! Good job y’all!! Dude took a heck of a fall!!
I never had any doubt!! You guys are awesome. Matt did a good job teaching you all how to do recoveries... and you all did a good job learning!!! GREAT WORK!!!
I simply LOVE the WINDSHIELD video time. Do you get paid some sort of travel time? How does ‘travel time pay’ work out??
Yes, ‘sketchy’ and ‘steep’ don’t come close to the ‘possible worst case’.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
For the box truck all you needed to do was get a set of tire chains for it.
Jefe staying calm, cool, and collected. Rhett with the knowledge bomb.
That was an exciting recovery, and I'm glad they didn't call themselves the "B team" this time around!
Valeu Team. Very good team. You are the best. Elson-Brasil.
If it hasn’t been said, it’s worth saying again, roll onto that style of chock. Don’t kick ‘em in.
Nice work Lizzie, Rhett, and Jefe. Great teamwork!👍😎🇺🇸
I hope Carter's ok. That was a pretty hard fall.
Good MORRning everyone!
Tough pull up that incline! Feel sorry for Carter he bruises easy lol. Lizzy is so cute and funny! Yep i was scared for everyone on this job site! lol
Great job by the crew. Such a huge comfort to know that when the boss is away, the team can handle anything that comes up.
Good morning!!! What a way to start my day watching you guys!!!
Great recovery Lizzy,Jefe and Rhett.Thanks for sharing.👍👍👍👍☺️☺️☺️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Quote of the day... "you have be pretty healthy to eat that bad". Good job team! You got that truck out of there! Watch your step there on that ice! Falling isn't so bad, it's hitting the ground that hurts!
Great team effort. A good assessment of what was needed after the first attempt, and a successful deployment of skills and equipment won the day. Chains would probably be a good addition to the Morrvair kit, though..
If they had put chains on the trucks drive-wheels, it would be out of there in no time.
If the driver of the truck had put chains on in the first place, he wouldn't end up in that position. :)
Oh man! I was on the edge of my seat on the box truck recovery! You all did a great job.
I've got an idea for you Matt: the Bombi needs another vehicle to handle snow jobs while it goes in for repairs, right? Why not go Casey Ladelle style, and get a set of tracks for the Banana? The Banana could go back and forth between tires and tracks as needed, and once the Bombi is fixed, you would then have 2 capable snow vehicles for tackling tougher jobs in the deep stuff. And besides, the Banana on tracks would be just so darn cool!
Or maybe they could recruit Rudy back into helping with some recoveries with his Tracked Jeep.
"You have to be pretty healthy to eat this bad". LOL -my new favorite quote and I'm going to use it next time people comment about my road trip junk food..
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the radio use. fooking love how you used the radios.
Best recovery ever without Matt , great job Lizzy and Boss plus crew...I never doubt it because you always make it happen 🤠👍
Chains for the box truck for the win
Will it be the "Worlds longest wait" to see the snowcat repaired/upgraded?
with snow chains on the truck and on the tow jeep it would go as well as possible..
can become part of the equipment for future jobs. but good job ev 👍👍👍💪💪❤️❤️🇸🇪 loves from sweden
With 20 years driving a semi in situations identical to this, tire chains would ideal for both vehicles. In fact I believe that if the big truck had tire chains on it could have driven itself out of there.
YES and - chains, good but salt/de-icer would have done the trick, i use it all the time, always have some with. And strap- on foot cleats are essential also. Unnecessary second trip!
Gotta love how determined the team is!! Also can't really blame you or the team because I feel yall didn't have eyes on it tell you got there so its not really a failure
Maybe put some tire chains on the truck's bald tires? It looks dangerous to pull that heavy dead weight on slick ice! Thanks for the video!
Jonah!
Best new charachter on the channel.
This is EXACTLY what great training and Professionalism looks like. Absolutely Awesome job Team.
Underestimated the work.
Unnecessary risk.
Ok.
Good morning MORR crew!!!!!
you made the right decision to come back after making it safe 20,000 lbs is a lot when it starts to slide, better to have more equipment to make it safer also Dont walk on snow or ice with hands in your pockets lol.
Jefe was so relieved he forgot where he was and himself giving lizard that very high five Huck yeah jefe Huck yeah 😅🤣🤣🤣
It would be cool to put a gimbal ( on the dash ?) inside the Morvair to show just how steep it is at some of their recoveries.
Great show guys. Like the new camera men doing a great job
Tomtom is a great addition. Look forward to him spinning off to his own channel.
Great job Lizzy,Jefferson and Rhett...pretty slick steep grade...well done.
Some tire chains on the morvair would have made that recovery a snap.
You guys did it. By not giving up and that’s what I love about this channel nobody ever gives up!! but I can’t stress studded tires, enough people all over Montana’s been using him as long as automobiles have been being manufactured. Also, in South Dakota, North Dakota, in northern Idaho. “You can take my wife, but you can’t take my studded tires!” Lol I saw that on a bumper sticker the guy was from Bonners ferry, Idaho, just this side of the Canadian Border.
Y'all have a awesome crew. Love watching ur adventures ever week
A lot at risk and well done. Hope Carter is okay.
