Yes mental evaluation is definitely needed for cruise ship workers it’s a stressful job and just like your physical health your mental health needs to be great as well

It still boggles my mind of the stupidity of some people. He worked on the ship and didn't think the cameras would pick up his activity? Do stupid things and face large consequences.
it would boggle the mind of those that have never been in hardship my friend... desperate times make for desperate people. as an agent for cruise lines for over 20 years i talk with these people daily and i have yet in 20 plus years heard a joyful story from any of them... crew are treated very poorly and paid even less, trust me.

It’s crazy, all these cruise line employees doing all this bad stuff and not one of them works for carnival cruise line and people say carnival is the Walmart of the sea

I requested a tour of the health care ctr & so called morgue. My premise is even on cruise critic & other travel sites -I encourage travelers to have a FULL physical b4 sailing, and if a cardiac patient -I STRONGLY encourage clients to have a cardiac stress test & follow up. Also. Plz, refill & bring all ur meds (in a back pack-do not pack in luggage) My last 2 cruises -myself & several other nurses had to perform CPR. (One needed Narcan do to opioid use) Not quite the vacay we hardworking or retired Nurses deserve.
ive been sailing with RC for my entire life and have only ever had amazing interactions with employees...so its rather unfortunate to see these bad apples creating a bad rep for everyone else :(

OMG, what in the cruise industry is going on?? I went on my first cruise on the Disney Dream back in May of 2022. I couldn't imagine if anything like this had happened on that cruise.

I'm going to on a limb here and suggest that he didn't have ancestors from Europe...
He’s probably transported drugs plenty of times before without getting caught. This little snag is what got him caught up.

Sounds like he was on something.
I saw this story on another cruise channel and although I don't support what this staff member did I just want to explain something......1/ The FBI could have got involved because it's possible it was religious extremism but FYI most Africans are Christian apart from a few northern countries .....2/ My smart husband work with many groups in the business he works for and at one time he worked with a group who had a grown man who survived The Vietnam War while as a child there......The job is high pressure and sometimes if this guy was very stressed then he was triggered and he would start to behave like a 10 Y.O. ball and want to go outside and play in the park.......His collegues knew about his condition and it was rare for him to do this apart from when there was a lot of work deadlines.......I DON'T SUPPORT WHAT THIS CREW MEMBER DID but I am very interested from a psycological standpoint to find out if the stress of a new job triggered him in some way......Did he survive going thru the Congo or Rwanda Civil Wars as a kid? ......African countries have few doctors who can deal with mental health issues butttt it The Western World doctors are very aware of mental health and there is well-known medications that can help him......He tried to jump on a life boat B4 trying to stab anyone and I wonder if high anxiety about trying to hold down a new job and not wanting anyone to know about his 'secret anxiety issues' caused this......I HOPE FBI doctors can evaluate him and see if he has trigger points and offer him appropriate medication for high anxiety.......He might have 4 kids to feed and if he gets back to Africa he may have issues holding down any job there if he has these psychological triggers.....He needs to be evaluated by a Western psychiatrist and offered anxiety leveling medication to help him with his condition rather than just sending him back to Africa and telling him he is a bad person.

Given that the first situation started with the crew member trying to cut loose a lifeboat and escalated from there, it kind of sounds like he may have been Schizophrenic. If you have delusions people are after you, you may feel the need to escape, and then of course with real security coming, could have made it worse. If he was already starting to see and hear things that weren't there. If he was like off his medication or something, all that sounds possible. Just my theory, especially since we went on to stab people he presumably had no issues with prior, especially the lady in the medical ward minding her business.

What the Norwegian is going on??? Poor 75 year old. She's going to be compensated big time. Luckily security was there. Otherwise it could've been a disaster. I must ask. Do crew members get drug tested once getting back on the ship from a day off ashore? Maybe this person got drugged up?
