I had the original version of this, the Supro 1310 Tremolo, and much preferred the aesthetic, but if it's the same circuit that is the best tremolo pedal you can buy. The 1310's transformer warmed up everything, even when the gain was set to zero, and I routinely had it as an always on, even when I wasn't using the trem. It's the closest thing to a true tube driven tremolo that i've played. My only issue was the noise floor was higher than I would prefer, and it wasn't stereo.
Really enjoyed the pedal sounds and your playing, Phil. Thanks for all the great stuff you do and all the time and effort that you constantly put in. Hope your new year is off to a smashing start, and see you in Friday 😎⚡️🎸🙌
Seeing this pedal again made me realize I've probably been watching your videos for nearly, if not exactly 10 years! I found your channel in either late 2013 or early 2014.
It’s dirt cheap, but the only tremolo I own currently is the Danelectro Billionaire series one. It does everything you need and sounds great. Just no harmonic trem but best $40 you’ll ever spend
This episode was super relaxing. The sound felt like a genuine Fender amp not a pedal. Already have 4 trem Pedals but if I was in the market for one then would have surely picked it up. Great Video 👍
Damn. I guess I know which trem I am getting. The standalone gain sound on that sounds like it came out of a swamp and that phased tremolo sounds more like a Univibe than my Univibe pedal. That would be pure insanity in an wet/dry rig. Thanks! Get video. Happy New Year!
For years all I had on my board despite having loads of pedals was a Rat a compressor and an EQ and I used the reverb on my amp, for the music I was playing at the time this was all I needed to get my tone dialed in
Ah man, I miss those days. All I needed was a decent delay and a dirt pedal- the amp had the reverb, and that was all we needed. You didn't even think about it- everyone else was using about the same thing so- it was normal. We spent all our time concentrating on the music and how to play it instead of adjusting parameters and watching reviews to figure out what to buy next. Idk when constantly buying and trying out new gear became part of the guitar thing but- it really didn't used to be this way. I mean ppl would of course talk about wanting a better rig, but it didn't dominate the conversation like it does now. I honestly think I spend about half my time watching reviews and contemplating new purchases now- it's insane.
This is great content. I love seeing what you like and why you like it. I bought the PAL800-V4 yesterday, and now they show sold out. I wasn't aware of this pedal until your video, now cant wait for it to arrive.
Very cool trem pedal. I was looking for something like this and I just got a Wampler Terraform pedal pedal, which gives me trem and other affects. The thing I like the most about it is that it allows me to play through both my amps, Blackstar Silverline and Bugera V22, simultaneously.
For me, the most luxurious Tremolo I use as my measuring stick is on Josh Rouse's Suburban Sweetheart and Dressed Up Like Nebraska. Like Heroin, it's so addicting! I believe he used a Carl Martin Trem on that album. Give it a listen a few times and get HOOKED! LOL
I have a seymour duncan shape shifter that the previous owner added a volume knob to. It's the best. You can get that volume boost and the pedal has tap tremolo. SD should make the volume knob standard.
Enjoyed your explanations. I'm still training my ear to hear the differences between single & humbucker p/u. Like how you show the complete amp setup you're using. Thanks!
It's extremely obvious once you've played both and get used to the sounds- but the real difference is the output values. Lower output pickups sound great clean or slightly broken to me- higher outputs sound better when the gain is turned up. But they also sound different when clean and some ppl- though they are in the minority right now- prefer them to single cools when playing clean. BB King used them to play clean for instance. It's a fuller, fatter, more rounded sound which lacks he anomalies that single coils have- problem is, some ppl really like those anomalies. They call them "sympathetic harmonics" or over tones and they give the tone a lot of character.
This sounds awesome. Amplitude iis smooth, harmonic is excellent. I’m gonna throw a critique out there though? For any modulation pedal, I’m always curious about the min/max speeds, so personally I’d have loved to have seen that. Seems like this one may not go ultra slow, but depending on the pot I guess it might go slower than I think.
Love your content Phil - I have been watching your videos. I have learned quite a bit from you. Thanks for turning me onto Monty Montgomery, great stuff!
There was a Surf City amp that had what looked like a Tremolo built in, but kind of sounded more like a uni-vibe. That's what the harmonic trem on this sounds like.
Very interesting !! I have a Keely Verb-o-Trem; it doesn't have the Gain built-in, but I have an overdrive pedal after it. But it would be really nice to have that Gain built-in.
This is a really useful pedal. Not a big pedal guy, but I would love to add one like this to my gear. Not a terrible price for such a useful piece of gear!
Great sounding pedal! I have the Jsms D&M and Harmonious monk tremelo… love It for similar reasons ... was playing it tonight at a friends house! Bliss! 😎🤘🎸🐦
This pedal sounds fantastic and I’m not a huge tremolo user. I might just need to get one of these for playing Riders on the Storm ahah! Great feeds man, thanks 🤙
That rig would make about any pedal sound great. Not saying this one isn't a great pedal but- that's a hell of a rig man. I've been wrestling with my Epi. LP all day- trying to get it intonated- which isn't working out. I stored it for 3 years and something moved or changed- now I can't get it to intonate to save my life. And it's not just the usual G string issues- though that string is out of intonation as well. It's several strings- the High E seeming to be the worst offender. And I'm out of adjustment at the saddle- and it's still flat. I'm going to try raising the bridge on that end a little- if that doesn't work- I'm out of ideas. Wait- I just thought about something- I changed string gauge. Probably only a small part of it but I could go back to the other size and see if it helps, I guess. But for now, it's back to the CV Strat, I guess. It's a HSS model but, I still miss my LP- It sounds better when playing heavy stuff. The Strat sounds better playing clean or bluesy grit- but the LP shines when you turn up the gain.
Hey Phil, I can see why you like this pedal, is this the newer version? Did you have the older one as well? Do they sound the same? I found the older one altered the EQ of my sound too much, but I'm not hearing that on this one. Thanks!
@Phillip McKnight Hello! I have 3 questions😁 or ideas to comment. 1. I would like to know if you still have a shop or suggest a luthier (I'm in Tempe) Also for my 5-string bass. 2. There has never been talk of neodymium pickups and nothing about pickups with neodymium BAR magnet (but they are sold). 2 years ago I changed the magnet to my H. (all my guitars are HSS). Now I have bought thin bars for 2 single coils (not poles, single blade). But I feel like it's like an animal on drugs...waiting to be tamed😁. 3. I would like you to talk about Yamaha (Pacificas in particular). Everyone says good things about them, but it is never talked about. I have tried many cheap ones, better than some Fender ones and I don't understand why they are not so popular (which keeps their price low). But they have hundreds of models from the 80s-90s that have never been seen outside of Asia. I saw a video about this. Greetings!
Tremolo is one of those effects I could never hear again and I wouldn’t miss it. It’s a love-it-or-hate-it type effect unlike delay, reverb, flange, phase, chorus which most agree have a solid place in the board. To be fair this one does sound decent and the gain knob for sure helps … Gave the vid a thumbs 👍🏻 up though since Phil always provides a very balanced review of gear…
You're speaking the truth. I'm 59. Ever since I first encountered tremolo at age 12, I've hated it. I still don't like it after giving it a fair shake a few years ago...
@@bludworm1 Yeah… I’ve tried to like them… just never have. Didn’t care for them on Fender amps… which only pushed me over to Marshall sooner than I probably would have lol… never liked them as a pedal and if something ever called for a tremolo type effect I would grab an MXR Phase 90 instead … I know certain genres use tremolo quite a bit, but as a straight up rocker / metal guy, it just never was something I could get into at all …
I didn't hear much of a difference when you turned up the GAIN, to be honest. I think they should've just gone with level, speed, and that harmonic switch.
Seems to me someone has room for a bunch of new pedals. And like the green shirt wasn't odd, now blue. What's next, red? See Phil, it doesn't hurt, it's just color, and if you're ever in doubt just double-check with Shauna, but not the kids, that's never safe.
I love the Supro tremolo, the harmonic mode with all the knobs turned down added so much depth to the sound.
I love the idea of you sharing the things you love and why. There's real value in it. Thanks, Phil.
Ten years for 300 pedals. That’s 30 pedals a year for ten years. Now I’m like the alcoholic, who can say “I know someone who really drinks!”

Having fun is what it should be about. Do your thing man! Thanks Phillip for all your hard work.
Cool pedal! The Earthquaker Devices Night Wire is similar with a little more wacky features as well, that one is always kn my board.
The Nightwire is awesome.
Really enjoyed the pedal sounds and your playing, Phil. Thanks for all the great stuff you do and all the time and effort that you constantly put in. Hope your new year is off to a smashing start, and see you in Friday 😎⚡️🎸🙌
Your playing has got much smoother over the years, loving it cheers Phil

"...Life's the same, I'm shaking like tremolo..."
Gorgeous tone, and that Kiesel...wow!
Great pedal! All three fx together sounds really nice, I can see why this is a mainstay. Great series too, excited to see them all!!
THX and GREAT!! But what about hiss and background noise from this pedal?
I bought one a long time ago after watching your video. I think it was my second pedal.
This episode was super relaxing. The sound felt like a genuine Fender amp not a pedal. Already have 4 trem Pedals but if I was in the market for one then would have surely picked it up. Great Video 👍

That gain knob makes that pedal shine! Thanks for sharing I've never seen this pedal B4👍
I was hoping there was a series of pedals from the movie 300
For years all I had on my board despite having loads of pedals was a Rat a compressor and an EQ and I used the reverb on my amp, for the music I was playing at the time this was all I needed to get my tone dialed in

I like your converted Princeton head! That would make a cool how-to video :)

Good evening Phil you look sharp
Great sound from that pedal. Tremolos are a great effect

Enjoyed these last two vids. Is it going to be all 10?

Sounds more like a vibe than phaser; if there’s a difference.
Loving this series...

The pre amp on these is where the magic is, I wish it was always on and I could just footswitch the tremolo on and off.

thanks Phil
great job😃

Great feeds man, thanks 🤙
I enjoy this new series.
That first A minor chord he played sounded a lot like the opening to Radiohead's Subterranean Homesick Alien
Seems like it would be cool if the Gain could be on an expression pedal.
What a fantastic video have a good day phillip ❤😊

Sounds great!
Hey, are you still selling the wood guitar stand or has that ship sailed?
Would like to have heard this pedal with the speed slowed down a bit more. To see if it could do a Univibe type effect.
Sounds good 👍😊❤
Definitely can see the benefits of that gain knob.
Will it act as a chopper or cutter?
That one setting had a univibe vibe

That is like the Haggard tremolo

300 pedals sounds like a lot of pedals, unless you are Josh Scott. 😂
That switch down seems more univibe than phaser to me

Check out Mattoverse’s Tremstortion.
I think you’ll love it. You can choose where you want the gain on the whole signal or just on the “trails”. Also you can choose the waveform.
I like it!
300
Harmonic Tremolo is much more Uni-Vibe ish than Phaser ish .
Heavy tremolo makes me dizzy, almost seasick. Am I the only one?
🤟
I Got Rid Of 300 Pedals, but I have 412 guitars. :)
I got rid of 301 pedals and play like Keith Richards now. jk
Old design better
