My mom just walked into my room, saw me watching this, and yelled, "Is that Cookie Monster?!"
My sister did that. Funny how that works.
That's racist! >:-[
Ryan Severn Same.
NapalmMan10 HAHHAHA CINEMA SINS!!!
NapalmMan10 Everyone's a little bit racist, sometimes.
I do believe I just saw a blue puppet Nintendo UA-camr give a salute to the Wii U with bagpipes in the background.
What a time to be alive.
*Russian anthem plays*
Who was the puppet?
I think they might have ripped off Arlo.
Amadeus more like USSR anthem
*Scotland the Brave plays*
*Star Spangled Banner plays*
The Wii U isn't even Nintendo's least fun console. Just worst selling. It's a shame really.
FUgameCrue I agree, but here's a question, what do you think is nintendo's least fun console? (Besides virtual boy)
insanegamers134 The only Nintendo system I didn't very enjoy was the original GameBoy. It had some great games, though, but I'd rather play on my NES or SNES.
FUgameCrue
All thanks to them really😦
Oh jeez you're trying to get me assassinated by answering that. I like them all buuuuuut (cough)64(cough)
Mario 64 was great but they improved upon it later. It's like Mario 1 for NES. Great but it was the first attempt. Mario Kart 8 is better than Mario Kart 64, both Zelda's on the 64 are great but Wii U has Winder Waker, Twilight Princess, and BOTW so that kind of wins, Smash is better on the Wii U(Don't kill me!), and Rare was an amazing developer but besides that I didn't really LOVE that many 64 games. Even the Wii had games that I loved. Plus Pikmin, Nintendo Land(underrated) Hyrule Warriors, Splatoon, Woolly World, Mario Maker, Tokyo Sessions, and more! The Wii at least revived 2D platforming or so it seemed to me at least and it had Metroid Prime Trilogy and Mario Galaxies 1 and 2 plus 2 Zelda games(64 had better Zelda's to be honest)
I don't expect anybody to even read that
FUgameCrue I read it and I agree with 85% of it, honestly it hurts me to hear people overpraise the n64, it had some gems but even gems age badly, if I rated the Nintendo consoles personally, it'd go
Wii u
GameCube
Wii
SNES
N64
NES
haven't played enough Switch to judge just yet
I'll miss miiverse. The ridiculous stuff that would pop in on that smash stage and Wind Waker was great
Zack wind waker remakes will be around in the future :D
I wish they continued MiiVerse on the switch and Same thing with streetpass
Miiverse kinda sucked, the posts weren't funny
@@mariajimenafigueroa233 why yuck someone’s yum? Especially without any reasons
Breath of the Wild was truly the best sendoff for the console possible. Goodbye my friend.
That is true, but I believe BotW is the last Nintendo developed game.
It runs horribly though
Literalys
Breath of the wild: The WiiU's last 'breath'.
Jerrison Abrigo EYYYYYY
Ragnar Ahlman it plays exactly the same as the Switch dumbass
I just asked my WiiU if he is dead, he was very upset about it. Then I turned it on and it still worked, so mine is still alive. So sorry yours died.
Komory I sold it for the switch. I regret it so much. 😭
i got my wiiU in 2015 and well duhe it still works its nintendo
I still play mine. I don't have that many games on my Switch so I don't play it that much right now.
SuperSarahGamer I got the zelda pack in 2014 :D It was already discontinued at that point on so I picked up the last model available in the store for 80e cheaper than the launch model. Still have it in the living room. Im thinking of buying twilight princess hd and breath of the wild for it and super mario 3d world too because theyre amazing games.
Same!
Thank you WiiU...
_You were a great beta test for the Switch!_
Fulken Yep!
Fulken Exacly
Fulken
Hey o!
Fulken A, men
T O O S O O N
Nintendo Land was a lot better than 1 2 Switch.
Ray Revolta I'll have to agree with you there
Ray Revolta I Agree
WiiManElite Isn't it 60? If it was a pack in I would have played the heck out of it. I'm so intrigued by the marble game. The best implementation I've experienced of HD rumble so far is a crane minigame in Skylanders, believe it or not. I could feel how far away the crane was from the screen.
For me the best implementation I've noticed is the fact that it makes the coin sound effect when you get coins in Mario Kart 8.
Only sometimes though, if it's using the rumble already it won't do that.
Absolutely!!! They should released Nintendo Land 2 instead of 1-2 Crap.
*Arlo pops up on screen with a straight face* "The Wii U is dead.."
Arlo:2017
chu-pay XD Doesn't he technically always have a straight face?
chu-pay XD I LOVE YOUR PROFILE PIC.
DHMIS.
YES.
Amber Jackson lol thanks!!
It's a shame that the Wii U didn't sell well, as it is one of my favorite consoles that they have ever released. Mario Kart 8 is my favorite MK game to date, and Super Mario Maker is the game that made my good at Mario. Nintendo Land is also the one game that my non Nintendo friends would actually play, seeing as Mario Chase was the most fun that we had on the system. The library is also fantastic, so the Switch has a lot to live up to.
Now, if only I could get one...
Why is no one talking about ssb4?
Corny King I know right.. I'm getting a Wii u mainly for Ssb4, Mario kart 8 and smm
@@renelmk Oof, nowadays those games have switch ports or better versions on the switch.
Well now those game either have ports, or better sequels. (Like Super Mario Maker 2!)
We knew this would happen.
*Wii knU.*
HAHA that's good
The Malite stop
get out.
I don't get it what's knU?
XKINGX Gaming Think about how it's pronounced (Kne-u)
Wii U still had great games!
about 6 of them
Logan Gregg
Splatoon
Hyrule Warriors
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Zelda Breath of the Wild
Pikmin 3
Mariokart 8
Mario Maker
Yoshis Wooly World
Bayonetta 2
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
Wind Waker HD
Rayman Legends
Super Smash Bros
Super Mario 3D World
Darkloit yeah, countless games i spent hours and hours and hours in.
I can count at least 20 games worth buying
Exactly. My only gripe with that list is that Yoshi was kinda disappointing personally.
The Wii U will have great potenti- AND IT'S DEAD
Five years between the start and end of your statement, so not exactly a short lifespan there...
That was quick
lol before the sentence is even finished it's dead
Just wait in 10-15 years people will be praising the Wii U just like they did with the dreamcast.
I'll be here in ten years
SuperSmashMaster43 idk about that. The Wii U was pretty much a failure from start to finish and most of the games worth playing will be put on the switch in the next year or so
People hated the GameCube when it was released
didn't we did the same thing with the gamecube?
runman besides smash bros I've never seen anyone playing a GameCube over a PS2.
I'm kind of mad that Wii U didn't emulate DS Games. Everything was setup exactly for it! The dual screens, the stylus, the touch screen!
TheUntamableDogg They had DS virtual console but they only had gimmicky games on it. I wish they included bowser's inside story, some Megaman spinoffs, and other good games.
GameNotes Piano yeah it would be cool with HD ds games!
What are you talking about?
I guess PiT is gimmicky as fuck then.
MrGuy Well, most of them are.
So much wasted potential. It pisses me off how fast the Wii U died.
Steelsoup Exactly.
Steelsoup Nintendo messed up with the poor power of the Wii U and the lack of 3rd party support even doe the Wii was a less powerful console then the PS3 and Xbox 360 it still had good 3rd party support
axoplax It was more powerful than the PS3 and Xbox 360, and less powerful than the PS4 and the Xbox One
The Wii was also the best selling console of it's generation. Over 110 million units.
Steelsoup Probably y the switch has alot of bugs cuz he switched died quick and made nintendo rush the switch (guess)
I will always cherish the Wii U(/3DS) era the most out of any system. I'm 15, so I grew up mostly with the Wii.
However, Nintendo really started "connecting" with us in a way that gave a strong sense of community during the Wii U period.
I'm not sure exactly why, but maybe because the Wii era was mostly E3 centered and the coming switch era is too new with only a few notable games so far.
Yet the Wii U had Nintendo directs that always pumped me. I remember when they announced Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8 and Smash in the same year. That was a pretty great time, especially with all the Smash speculation.
I don't know where I'm going with this, but I will always remember the Wii U very fondly for the games, the community, and the memes.
I agree. The Wii is very nostalgic for me, but the Wii U was really when i fell in love with Nintendo and its Franchises. The Switch is awesome too!
The Wii U may be dead...
But solid snake
But in all seriousness, I love the Wii U
Only true Arlo fans will get this one xD
I'm sad I don't get the reference. Maybe one day I will. :P
BaconStar watch his video on BotW spoilers :D
at first i thought the wii U was an add-on tablet for the wii, until i saw it in store. very bad marketing nintendo!
ZolidSnake true! It actually made me very mad when I finally figured out I had to buy a brand new console to get it
I never even heard of it for a long time but that might be because I was watching a lot of Minecraft
"Played the poop out of it."
"Excuse my language."
-Arlo, May 2017
Nintendo made a console, showed it's potential with Nintendo Land....and then never did anything like that again.
It was like...they made a console and didnt plan past the launch.
I mean, in a year we already had first party games that just left the gamepad entirely blank. (Donkey Kong)
And a lot of games that then used the gamepad just made the games worse. Wonderful 101, every-time it used the Gamepad...was horrid. Mario 3D World...game-pad was just inconvenient... StarFox... Paper Mario...
Like you say, it only really worked well for maps and item management... everything else... made the game worse.
I won't miss it.
yae ok goomba say what you wont but to me the wiiU is an awesome consile and i will always love it ^w^
It had some good games.
Mostly the ones that used none of the Wii U features and coulda been on anything :p
TheLonelyGoomba Hi lonely goomba I played a game of Mario maker and had to kill you friends
I agree with this completely! It had a great concept, but they just _never did anything with it!_
TheLonelyGoomba at least Mario maker used it well
Say what you will about the Wii U, it has the best Virtual Console.
+Link the Pringles Man I hope the switch's virtual console is better.
Link the Pringles Man I have to agree with that. I mean it even had DS/ GBA games. I hope the Switch gets a better VC. Maybe a all in one?
Link the Pringles Man the gamepad made for excellent DS vc
UmbreonInvaderz omg I see you every video
Marcos Moutta Whoa, really? I knew emulation exists, but I didn't know FUCKING EMULATION exists. :)
Wii Will Miss U!!! 😢
The Wii U will be missed.
When I am a adult I will look back at the good times I had with it.
Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros 4 was not mentioned because...?
SwedenTheHedgehog he did not have them
smoothie gamer what did he have then???
Xenoblade chronicles x also tho
And Paper Mario Color Splash? Arlo may not like it that much, but I adored it.
SwedenTheHedgehog this was his experience with the wii u.
Arlo is a tresure in this dark world.
*treasure
reversalmushroom - Good to see your still alive.
I feel like Arlo would be a good mascot for Best Buy.
BarKnock He would hold a sign, "Yes, we have Wii U's available"
im still playing the wii u with my girlfriend. We are currently playing mario 3d world.
alfasilverblade What World are you in? That's a really fun multiplayer game.
Average Fanboy 1128 we are redoign old stage with differant character to get all the characters stamps.
nice
Wow, you play with the controller while you comment with the keyboard? Man, that game must be easy!
Víctor Silva their is something called a pause button.
my favorite games of the Wii U:
Nintendo Land,
Wind Waker HD,
Mario 3D World,
Splatoon,
Breath of the Wild,
and Super Smash Bros. 4.
Not gonna lie, I kinda miss the Wii U and the good things it stood for. R.I.P.
It's funny how a handheld (The 3DS) outlived a console (The Wii U)
Ultra Arceus pokemon did it
nintendo handhelds generally have a long life span... even before pokemon
A lot of Nintendo Handhelds last long, ever seen the Original Gameboy? That was popular for a long time!
Gameboy outlived basically every console ever. I think it was sold for something like 13 years?
No the 3DS is dead the Wii U lived longer
Now if u count the 2DS then the 3DS lived longer
But arlo smash isn't on the switch yet.
Smimi -SmoiSmoi key word yet
yeah but I what am I supposed to do until then.
Smimi -SmoiSmoi unless you got a time machine wait.
Smimi -SmoiSmoi play with the cubegame duh
yes we also need smash melee bros super on switch nintendo on console virtual
The Wii U is dying someone call the ambulance! WII U, WII U, WII U! Nevermind, it's already dead.
I thought it was a handheld too, then I unboxed the thing and was pretty dissapointed that it wasn't. The switch on the other hand does what I hoped for.
Proud Goy See shitty marketing does shitty things
JEC03 This comment brought memories of Kung Pow.
JEC03 Nice one sir😆😆😆
Oh my fucking god...........
R.I.P Wii U, hopefully SSB4 gets a deluxe version on Switch.
SSB4 > Melee
Or perhaps a new game entirely?
Heck I actually want a melee deluxe more than SSB4 DE. But then again a new game means we get totally new everything so its a hard choice.
What would even be the point of a Melee Deluxe? Why would Nintendo go back and add to an old game that people still play when those people play it specifically because they don't like the changes and additions from the newer games?
SSB5 > Melee Remaster & Deluxe SSB4
I feel like if the Wii U had more 3rd party and sold better nobody would say it's bad. It seems like most people see bad sales and say it's bad. Then there's the minority who say it's bad for reasonable things.
Tearatzu I'm on PC(not s fan of modern consoles) and I would never call the Wii U a bad system. I didn't like the Wii, but the Wii U was a step in the right direction. It has better exclusives than PS4 or Xbone. Botw alone makes it a decent console. Nintendo just marketed it terribly, the price was to high vs performance, and the game droughts really killed the thing.
I don't love the wii u for the wii u. I love it for virtual console and wii backwards compatibility
I have played THOUSANDS of hours of Mario Maker on my Wii U.
In my house my Wii U was a Mario Maker machine.
In my house, the Wii U was a smash machine after my 3ds version stopped working
Mario maker 2... BUT MM1 HAS AMIIBO SUPPORT!!!!!
Poor Wii U. That is honestly my favorite console to date, just from nostalgia alone, because it was the first console I ever hacked
SAME HERE
The Wii was my first. Heck , I still use it as an emulation machine lol.
I did all 3. The Wii, Vwii and wii u. Until i bricked the vwii xD
Honestly, the hacking made the Wii U so much better.
Hacking does what Nintendon't.
Exactly, it gives a entirely new way of thinking. Instead of "This is what the wii u does" its became "What can i make the wii u do"
The Wii U had the most exclusives that I felt were truly fun when compared to the Xbox one and PS4.
WiiManElite 'Half of them doesn't work'.
Only mentions one example.
Xenoblade X, Bayonetta 1&2, Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD, Poken Tournament, and Reverse Compatibility with most All Wii games!!!... yeah! I still have reasons to play and re-play my WiiU!
NerdRage 36 and smash bros 4 the only reason most people got a Wii u
NerdRage 36 Dont forget Ssb4 and Super mario maker.
Also the original Xenoblade, EarthBound, Mother 1, and Metroid Prime Trilogy on Virtual Console... that was a big one for me.
don't forget Hyrule Warriors!
What do you mean "almost" all Wii games?
And then Arlo’s WiiU was never seen again.
"We played the POOP out of it. Pardon my language." -Arlo 2017
Arlo, I love how the epitaph is:
"In liking memory" and not "In loving memory" xD
If Nintendo named it the "Wii 2" instead of the Wii U, it still wouldn't have been a huge hit but it probably would've done better to the point that Nintendo wouldn't have had to release the Switch until November 2017 instead of March 2017.
MrSRArter should had named it Super Nintendo Wii or something else beside Wii U.
MrSRArter Wii 2: Reloaded
Wii 2: Electric Boogaloo
The Wii started with a Zelda game
And the Wii U ended with a Zelda game
The Wii started with Wii Sports
Too Bad Waluigi Time - and a Zelda game
@@toobadwaluigitime6402 and zelda Twilight princess too,
The GameCube ended with a Zelda and the Switch began with a Zelda
idk why but i feel like i was the only one who loved the wii u
I did, too.
I love the Wii U
I love the Wii U it’s awesome 👍
Prismatic Maniac I liked it to
Me too
I don't personally care about "specs" or whatever, all I care about is amazing and fun games. Mario Kart 8, Splatoon, Mario Maker, Smash 4 (My first smash game), wow. I also played that Lego Undercover game, which was fun. The games were fun, but my biggest problem was the virtual console. Mario 64 looks like a gloomy day...
Megermen the Roblunt That's so true I don't know why it matters so much about the console itself and not the games I got a Wii U because it's a new console and the concept of how it worked was amazing so I got it and I played Super Mario Maker, Smash Bros, and Mario Kart just because I had fun not because of the "specs"
some of my favorite memories came from my wii U
Stephen Parente yeah me too
How old are you?
Stephen Parente yet no one asked, child who shouldn’t own a UA-cam account.
TweekPark69 lol, it's pretty funny how you're replying in multiple comment chains on this seven-month old video, and most of them are just hate comments. Like, here you're responding to Stephen's comment simply by saying "Who asked you?" and calling him a child who shouldn't be on UA-cam. And you responded to that one guy who has the top comment who wants a Zelda Maker simply by saying "I have no word for how stupid this comment is," with no logic or reasoning to back it up. Pretty funny and sad.
Volvonics the fact you know this is incredibly creepy and if this is what you’re doing with your time I suggest a long look in the mirror
I have Breath of the Wild for it, my Wii U is going to stick around for awhile.
Wilfred Cthulu in my opinion you should have got a switch. You could get a switch, then buy breath of the wild, which gives you the option to play even more new games like the new Pokemon tournament, splatoon 2, odyssey,Mario and rabbids and other great games. The wii u is dead. It’s features are being stripped, and the switch has so much third party support. I hope you enjoy breath of the wild.
Wilfred Cthulu k
The Wii U is my fav... sad to see it go
A lot of people forget that the Wii U did asymmetric gameplay really well. Nintendo Land and ZombiU were perfect examples of that, but they were just a taste of the possibilities. I couldn't wait to see what they did with it next. But then... they just completely threw that concept away forever and ignored the second screen for the rest of the Wii U's life. They put so much effort into that second screen (it was the main distinguishing feature of the console!) but then abandoned it as if they had no hope in it. Then again, it's pretty obvious they lost hope for it when they named it after the previous console...
I'll always hold Affordable Space Adventures as the best WiiU experience.nothing beats playing that game with other 2 other people
Arlo is the best most honest youtuber I mean when he talks about nintendo he doesn’t cover up the bad but he does show the good and he is perfectly kid friendly too. If you like anything nintendo you should subscribe to Arlo he gives opinions with good reasoning and he basically reports on everything big that relates to nintendo within like 2 weeks.
this blue man look like grover without a nose

"You know what it is"
Me: Smash?
"Pikmin 3"
Me: oh
I said the exact same thing lol
Unpopular opinion:
I liked the Wii U more than the Xbox One and PS4.
Mario Denu I agree
Mario Denu not very unpopular
I liked the PS4 better, but the XBox One sucked.
No, it is very unpopular once you consider how people voted with their dollars.
I am a Nintendo fanboy and I can't even defend the Wii U.
Mario Denu I think on this channel that won't be an unpopular opinion.
I personally liked the Wii U more but the graphics, game library and price made it one of the worse Nintendo systems ever. Buying every great game for it wouldn't cost you too much
Mario Maker for Switch?
How would they do that? You would HAVE to use it in portable mode.
No Normal Dog The technology is there.
It would only really work in handheld mode, so probably not.
MrGuy no they could use the joycon as a wiimote which isn't as good as a stylus screen but you can still build really easily
Kyle Netherwood people want it but.... it would be incredibly awkward to use.
IMAGINE A WORLD WITH A ZELDA MAKER!!!!!!!!!!!
AND NOW IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN :(
Ever heard of the Nintendo Switch?
What about the switch?
Zelda Maker? that’s stupid lmaoooo
WE still have the 3ds
Kirby Maker.
heh, you know what's funny? I still want a wiiU, always wanted a wii but never got one till this day.
Get it at a pawn shop or something. The Switch is a better deal right now.
Jorge Gutierrez I would but there isn't any around where I live :/
I know switch is a better deal but there are some unfinished business between a few sequels and i that needs to complete **ahem 3d world nsmbu, dk tropical freeze, color splash, and captain toad**
i say get yoyr self a wiiU its backwerds compadabul with the wii so you get too in one basikly
SuperSarahGamer
I so hope you did this on purpose... Seriously.
so u got the original Wii not Wii u but I still want a Wii u
The wonderful 101 was very underrated
mine is just a mario maker machine now.
Splatoon is ocd person’s nightmare
Me and my daughter (ten years old at the time) beating Super Mario 3D World together is a memory I"ll never forget. Thanks, WiiU!
"Even before the Switch came out, Nintendo said the Wii U is done"
How many people remember the article where Nintendo said the exact opposite of that? The one where they said the Switch and Wii U would run together and the Switch won't replace the other? You don't remember that? Here, let me help. www.gamespot.com/articles/nintendo-s-new-console-nx-is-not-a-simple-replacem/1100-6427326/
It is not a "simple" replacement for Wii U *or* 3DS.
It's both. He's such a troll. He worded it like that on purpose.
You earned a cookie
Yep, I remembered that...
The Wii U will actually be done after the servers die.
why'd u have to bring that up ur making me regret buying a 3ds now
+_Galaxia_ I wonder if Nintendo will shut off the WIi U servers when they start charging for online. One last F.U. from Nintendo to all the loyal Wii U Mario Kart 8 owners.
Juan The Pokemon Master Why? The 3DS isn't. going anywhere anytime soon
Ill use my wii u for years to come!
Still lots of game ive yet to buy, and others ive bought ive still yet to play!
And i bought Breath of the Wild there so that will last me years!
Still play lots of smash bros, lots of bayonetta, lots of mario maker!
Simply LOVE the system!
Not to mention i can play my ENTIRE wii catalog there.. and lots of virtual console games from the nes, snes, gba, n64, ds and wii!
YOu can play almost the ENTIRE zelda catalog in the wii u!
Then theres starfox zero, wonderful 101. donkey kong country returns tropical freeze, pikmin 3, zombi u, catain toad treasure tracker, ario kart 8, hyrule warriors, wind waker hd, twilight princess hd, and the AMAZING Xenoblade Chronicles X. So many great games.. I just got Yoshi's Wholly World!
Same, for me it has the some of best party games ever, (Mario bros, Smash, Mario Party, Mariokart, and all the Wii games.)
get a switch, loser
Breath of the wild lasted me 3 months (not including dlc) because I binge-played it non-stop
CaptainHairball you're just saying that because you can't afford a Switch and you're mad about it
R.I.P Wii U..... Wii will all miss you dearly.... especially Mii.
I'm going to miss the dual screens even though they would've made the Switch a clunkier device.

R.I.P Wii U 2013-2016.
The fact that you didn't even know the right years speaks volumes about the system
Cars2RCool Sorry
Cars2RCool Don't judge me I don't know EVERYTHING.
wizdome02 it's all good it was just funny
I got a Wii U as my main console and I have absolutely no regrets. Except for persona 5.
MetaAxe 1456 my regrets are monster hunter 3 and cubelife
Rundas monster hunter is really good. I've only played 4U and gen tho
those games are just solid to me I'm not that much of a mh fan
Goodbye Wii U all of us will miss you! Some people... but I am not one of them it will be deep in every gamers heart ❤️
I still use my wii u pretty often actually. there are a ton of great VC games on it and I'm currently playing the prime trilogy. I don't really use the actual wii u but it's nice to have those options.
Wii U might be dead but the Wii is still alive
@Jawsome Playz But the Wii is dead also.
@@bigblujay9729 just dance is still coming out every year
@justadoggo I know that.
Oh dang... I haven't used my Wii U ever since the Switch was released. I'm gonna play it one last time and then put it away in the attic. Maybe if I have kids they'll play it.
DeathSoul V-yola I still play my Wii U now and then for Mario Maker, Smash, and Bayonetta 2 mostly...I don't think it belongs in an attic collecting dust. I don't think at least any Nintendo console should do that not even Virtual Boy 😂😅 Also, just imagine what the Wii U and N64 will look like in comparison to the future systems your possible kids might have 😰
Christian Berthiaume Same. I still play MK8 (not anymore because of 8 Deluxe), Smash and Splatoon on the Wii U. Once Splatoon and Smash get on the Switch though, I'll probably never use it again. :/
I don't have a Switch :(
Phantom Drags all u need is sb now lol
DeathSoul V-yola I live in the attic of my house, so my Wii U is always there anyways...😅
Farewell to my second favorite Nintendo home console (#1 being the Super Nintendo).
Yeah, the Wii U was marketed poorly, had a weak launch lineup, lacked third party support, etc., but for me, who only really has time to play a handful of console games seriously every year, the Wii U featured a modest lineup of what I consider some of the greatest games Nintendo consoles have ever featured on their consoles. Smash 4, Splatoon, Pikmin 3, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, Super Mario Maker, Nintendo Land, Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, Rayman Legends, Pokken Tournament, just to name a few off the top of my head. Good games are all I really care about, to be honest, and quality over quantity.
And yes, the Wii U Gamepad was somewhat impractical and expensive but damn if it wasn't cool, and led to some serious improvements for certain games that I think will be sorely missed.
Arlo gushed about Pikmin 3, and for I agree for good reason - Pikmin 3 is a perfect example of a game that I really feel was MADE for the Wii U. Part of what makes that game a huge advancement over its predecessors is the ability to delegate the orders of 3 different commanders at the same time using the touch screen map - allowing you to focus on the actions of one commander on the big screen while leading the others on the gamepad. The multitasking capabilities in that game are crazy. I hope they can think of some replacement on the Switch for "Pikmin 4", because it feels like doing away with this would actually be a HUGE step backward for the franchise, honestly.
Splatoon uses a similar map direction feature with Squid Jumping and Inkstrikes. I mean...I guess you could select a teammate to Squid Jump with analog controls, but the touch map makes it very obvious where you are headed to in a very short amount of time, allowing you to make fast, strategic choices necessary in that game.
As Arlo mentioned, Rayman Legends made clever use of touch controls with the Murfy's Dungeon auto-runners. I'll be honest and say I never liked them any more than the tight controls of the actual platforming levels, but they were well designed and in there just rarely enough to be an amusing diversion.
There are other times where the gamepad's touch controls aren't strictly needed, but make things a lot easier. The level designer of Super Mario Maker would be less intuitive and efficient without touch controls, Smash Bros uses it to interesting effect in its Stage Builder, while the Zelda remakes use the touch screen for efficient inventory management, just as an example. Talented artists on Miiverse (of which I am NOT one) also use the Gamepad to make some real cool stuff (though, still nothing compared to a real drawing tablet).

One thing I think the Wii U deserves more credit for us allowing us to have the best Batman video game experience ever. Arkham City: Armored Edition perfected the game, made it far more immersive, and blew the original version away entirely. The game pad was Batman’s personal navigation and inventory management device, the costume upgrade was absurdly cool, and like you said with other games, having the map right there in your hands streamlined the game experience and just made it all the smoother and better. Not to mention how cool it was to use the gyroscope function in the Game Pad to explore crime scenes and search for clues by physically looking around you, not maneuvering your gaze with a joy stick, was seriously cool.
It was really cool, but.... It wasn't my favorite. I still think the best Arkham city experience was when I first played it on the Xbox. It impressed me so much that every time I play it, while I love it, it's just not the same, even on Wii u.
Rayman Legends was my all-time favorite game on the Wii U. Loved so much about it. Hell, it was probably my favorite platformer in the last decade.
Wii U, an HD system.
A High-Disappointment system.
ChromeVault LEAVE EVIL SONY/MICROSOFT/PC FANBOY
Super Gengar Gamer I'm honestly more of a Nintendo fan than a Sony one. Even then, I can still say the Wii U wasn't that great.
Super Gengar Gamer dude let it go the system is dead we burned it at the stake
ChromeVault Ok. I'm not saying that it's the best system of the last generation but the amount of hate it receives is too much to let's that joke slide. Sorry.
ChromeVault What, you mean thre weren't good games?
The Wii U has some great games! I will probably play on my Wii U again some time.
yeah but solid snake
Yea solid snake
Fuck off.
FUCK YOU SPAM!!!
ok I will, just get me a switch with breath of the wild, a ps3 with the ratchet and clank hd collection and future trilogy, cancel teen titans go in favor of a Steven universe, regular show, and we bare bears marathon, get rid of all fake channels, get me a bunch of nerf guns, and then I will fuck off
Keith Gould this isn't spam. I'm making a reference you idiot
"I'm done bashing it." ~Arlo 2017
cries bc i like the wii u and still play it all the time because i have lots of good games for it
I actually liked the Wii U.
It is in fact, the peanut house. please stop your salty fanboy/girl-ism.
I will never understand why the Wii U was hated on so much. Just because the Wii U was a "Failure" does not mean the console was bad. The Wii U's GamePad tablet controller was not supposed to be portable. The GamePad acted as a controller, it acted as a TV remote in order to switch between TV inputs, turn your TV's volume up or down and change the channel with the GamePad's touchscreen, the GamePad allowed Wii U owners to draw pictures on the GamePad's touchscreen with the GamePad's stylus and post their artwork to the now defunct Miiverse, you can play your games on your Wii U's GamePad while somebody in your house is watching TV, the Wii U was backwards-compatible with Wii and Wii U game discs, it was compatible with Wii Remotes, Wii Nunchuks, wireless arcade sticks and other Wii and Wii U accessories, the Wii U only had one third-party game and that game was Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition which had third-party options such as using the GamePad's touchscreen to perform the Tekken character's complicated button inputs that you could never normally do on a regular controller or an arcade stick, Tekken Ball, dress up your favorite Tekken characters in Nintendo character costumes and so much more and the Wii U has a huge library full of Wii U games that non-Wii U fans will not do their research on and the Wii U is superior to the Wii, the DS series, the 3DS series and the Switch because the Wii U does not rely on friend codes. Plus, the best model of the Wii U is the black 32 GB deluxe model because the original white Wii U only had 8 gigabytes of flash drive space, which is not enough space for your Wii and Wii U games. Also, like the original Wii and "Family Edition" Wii, the Wii U can save game data to it's flash drive or on an SD/SDHC memory card. And one more thing: the Wii U is NOT dead. Miiverse may be shut down on it, but the online servers on the Wii and Wii U games still work.
Preach, brother
My Wii U light blinked while I was watching this.....
Wii U was my first console, it has a special place my heart!
Mario is like water
Got it Arlo!
Darkloit we need it it's everywhere it rains from the sky it's clear collects mold exists and can swim in it?
What do you mean exactly?
Darkloit if he becomes too much of it, IGN will give him a low score
Darkloit it might be why Mario is in a rainforest in Odyssey... :P
yoshi's wooly world is the only real reasons to have the wii u
It's not dead until I get my copy of Darksiders Warmastered.
I still have a wiiu and I still play it this made me sad.
I find it weird that the Wii U is dead but the Wii is still (barely) alive and kicking. The fricking Just Dance games wont let the Wii die honorably.
Where's Smash?
just2good imagine making a comment 3 years ago as a verified youtuber and only getting one like lol
Oh my god you watch arlo!
Ninjago season 6 skybound
The only nintendo system I never had wow...
Lol
*sigh* farewell wiiU it's been a nice long 5 years...
I'm actually going to miss it, a lot
When I was in high school there was a K Mart across the street from my school, all throughout high school my friends and I would go there after school fairly regularly to buy energy drinks, snacks and sodas before football games or just for the hell of it. The last time I went there I had just gotten my first ever tax return and the K Mart was going out of business so they were clearing out their inventory, I managed to pick up the Wind Waker Special Edition Wii U for a decent mark down and I had some good times with it. When it was new I wasn't buying a lot of games for it but I had a few, nothing compared to what I was buying for my 3DS, PS3 and PS4 but I had some great games, I said goodbye to my high school friends with the Wii U, Mario Kart 8 came out the week before I graduated and we set up my Wii U at a friend's house and for the last week of school our schedule was to go to school for the 3 hours we were required to be there, go get lunch, go to my friend's house we'd play Mario Kart for hours, those of us that had jobs would leave to go to work and everyone else would keep playing Mario Kart, the night before graduation everything had been unlocked every track, race, cup and difficulty had bren finished snd we sat in my friend's living room did one last race and then I packed it up, went to my parent's house and then graduated the next day. That was the last time we all hung out as a group and the last time I saw a few of them and my Wii U was there for the whole thing.
I loved the wii u but I came into UA-cam too late to play it on video.
Force Deitie never too late, man. If gamecube games still hold up as things to lets play, then good wii u games are always welcome
also ik u

As far as I know, the Wii U is getting at least one more retail game. The Darksiders 1 remaster is coming out on May 23rd, even though it got pushed back a lot and folks just assumed it was canceled.
+That Edward Good to see a developer follow through on that.
Agreed. They certainly didn't have to, and I doubt they are making a lot of copies. Thinking it will be hard to find, especially later on in the year.
There's also going to be a Cars 3 game, so at least the Wii U can end off with a KA-CHOW!
Wait this is from 2012? Nintendo stop making me feel old.
you feel old i was born in 2000 and i grow up with the wii and the ds and i will still love all my consiles
You talk like you were born in 2009.
SuperSarahGamer I was born in 02 and I remember as a kid thinking the 64 and GameCube graphics were great and now GameCube looks retro. Making me feel old all the time
I thought the n64 had the best grafics but now its just plain retro 👌
The Wii U is alive... in my heart
You forgot Captain Toad! Such an unsung classic!
I will dearly miss the Pikmin 3 machine. Hopefully Pikmin 4 is revealed for the Switch at E3!
Yeah, it'll probably be announced next E3, if not in a Nintendo Direct at some point between now and then.
MrGuy r u sure about that
The Wii U wasn't a bad console in my opinion. So many great games to play on it. Nintendo just didn't utilize the console's potential well enough.
