    I used to call back in the day in mechwarrior online. Originally my friends and I were all part of a clan with a very micro managing leader on a power trip. At first we tried to help and come up with strategies but he took that as a power grab instead of what it was. When he started “throwing his weight around” and chastising my friends for helping we all decided to leave. We formed our own group where we had a very loose power structure and encouraged people to play what they wanted, built how they liked their mechs outfitted. I as the main caller had veto power anything I said was the plan unless changed on the fly. However if someone had a play or a target of importance everyone was encouraged to call a play when they saw one for the area they were in. My job was to make it fit with what everyone else was doing and see the big picture adjusting as needed. Not long after we left our old clan we ran into them in game 12 vs 12 we had a few legionaries as we had just formed. It felt so very good to wipe the floor with them. His rigid micro managing approach vs our loose dynamic style. He had accidentally countered my play in the beginning so I adjusted it and set up an anvil, the other flank became the hammer while my friend took over calls on that flank and swung around on our opponents. It perfectly illustrated our differences in leadership, I heard later that he was beyond pissed and was yelling at everyone after the fact. The best part was that I filmed it, and they got to see exactly how it happened.

    Getting back into the game after a 3 year break and became the caller/trainer of a new clan.
    These videos are perfect for me to not only refamiliarize myself with the basics of the game and calling in general, but also great reference material to show my clanmates to help them improve.

    Great video. I'm looking forward to more on this topic in particular as I'm the combat officer/caller on my largely inactive clan of under-skilled players. Due to lack of practice fighting with/against coordinated teams I'm hoping this type of video will eventually help fill in the gaps.

    Not by any means an F.C. myself but I sure hope our clan callers watch this. Another great video dealing with topics other creators don't. Just in time for another round of clanwars too. You be one shotting these Yt videos, knocking stuff out of the park. Thank you for all the time this stuff takes to produce too.

    Not really a clan player, but I had joined a more "competitive" one from my region in 2020, but the callers were extremely toxic and were searching for things to blame when we were having a bad run, or were talking about a bad play from a teammate, so I left, they were good players but I couldn't stand their toxicity at times, so I left. A lot of things you said about psychology and stuff didn't really apply to them. I actually had more fun in clan games in a "player-wise" inferior clan, not the best strats or players, but we didn't make it a big deal when we lost, even if against "worse teams" on paper, but we were like "Fuck that, we will get them next time". Def the most important point you made "remember to have fun, this is a video game and you are not a pro"

      Its common to have players getting blasted for mistakes at least for clans ive played with they want to win. Otherwise why are you in the clan.

    • @Gyrosmeister
      @Gyrosmeister 3 роки тому +2

      @@_esco_6790 Obviously you should make them aware of their mistakes, but things like "what the fucking hell are you doing" are not good behaviour, remember that you don't really make money out of these clan games, we are not pros, you want to play with other people and have fun. Obviously you want to win as well, but in my opinion winning in a completely toxic environment is not fun

      @@Gyrosmeister i agree i shouldve stated my opinion is based on competitive clans ones that at least are more towards advances and cw, in casual clans the type of behavior you or most see from some top clans with callers just ripping on players should never be allowed in a casual clan

    Altho I'm not interested on being a caller, this was still very helpful as to how be a better player during calls, thanks

      Ya best tip is to just listen as a player even work with the caller on strats even if youre just listening to the strats between callers and others to better get inside the mindset of the caller that in itself will help alot in battles

      @@_esco_6790 do you f.c.?
      I have been reading your replies and for what it's worth I disagree in some areas. I am in a clan and regularly score high in amongst my peers according to the H.o.F. I play solo mostly though because of toxicity from certain clan mates re. Cw.
      I feel it's a loss for me and the clan but playing after a days work I don't need to subject myself to another's rage when things go pear shaped. Our f.c often confuses the situation when calling leading to a repeating vicious circle. I hope someone points this video series out to him. I feel if I did he wouldn't appreciate the gesture.

      @@paulrigby4475 i called a few times when needed 8s&10s. I spent most of my time as an XO and worked with our main caller on strats because one thing most callers forget is the players they take into advances, you can come up with the best strategy but if the players cant execute it then whats the point. Im from NA and ive had sessions with callers and players from top 50 right up to top 10 over the years and learned alot. Way i see it you got 2 types of clans casual and competitive you can stay in a chilled clan no biggie but i strongly believe they should never do advances or cw its not worth it pretty much a credit sink and it will demoralized the clan and players after the losses especially the caller and his support group.
