Good to see Barking Riverside Railway Station now open! I enjoyed my visit the other day!

This has been stalled for ages! Read an article about the first residents who moved in over 10 years ago and are basically completely isolated from transport, schools, shops and other amenities, despite living in what is a part of London

Can you please remember the people who died in the Princes Alice disaster in some way in this new housing development.

My son moved into his first home in September and its a lovely place to live. Yes its ongoing and new properties are being built ,its has a lovely riverside walk not far at all which we did and saw many birds and we spoke to ecologists who are working with the developers and its been well thought out ,and plenty of green space has been included all over and will be added. The communal garden in his flat is really beautiful , I’m a keen gardener and nature lover and careful planting has been done to benefit wildlife, there’s a lovely pond on the original first area developed which is worth a walk too,
Because its a huge area you don’t feel cramped, the transport links are already good with frequent buses and the train station will soon be finished.

Thamesmead North.... Except Thamesmead looks a lot nicer. Looks incredibly cramped with lots of spaces perfect for inviting crime.

Not really I love right next to it and there’s barely any crime here it’s all families with kids

There’s literally only a GRAPH of a place and you’re predicting the amount of crime?!?

That development looks denser than nigel forage!

It’s not , and once finished will be even better. You have the river walk 10 minutes away through green space with large communal gardens , remember its London not a rural village. If you want space move to Scotland. They are providing homes but looking after the green spaces too ,

@@Elephantlover1943 ok no need to get rude Helen. Just because its east london doesn't mean we should let these developers get away with designing apartments that don't achieve a decent amount of daylight. Some of those units look as if they would be single aspect north facing units . Whats the quality of the green spaces like will they be shade most of the year ? They're selling apartments in barking at approx £500 per sqft which means they're roughly doubling their money on every sqft. I suggest you take a look at the barking and daggebham architectural design guide before telling me to look at less dense areas. I think you and this scheme have something in common 🤔

I actually don’t like seeing any developments , nature and animals pay the price for buildings on their habitat. We are building houses and ruining our country
I know how tiny they build flats and houses not just in Barking and Dagenham but compared to some these are much better and environmentally better with a green waste system
I meant no offence-sorry you felt I was rude

We need high density housing with immigration levels being so high.

What does "affordable home" mean? Shared toilet between ten households? More interestingly, what would "not affordable" be? I think the devil will be in the detail.

@@lostgleammedia yes they have a great size communal gardens only accessible to residents, with careful planting for nature in it, they are adding many green areas ands the riverside walk is lovely. Right beside the Thames, you can see seals and boats and we saw lots of wildlife. It’s a ongoing project which has only just restarted. My sons flat is the same size as my 2 bedroom terrace house in Hampshire , good sized bedrooms ,en-suite to one. and large kitchen diner and living room and a huge balcony. I was pleasantly supervised at the fact it wasn’t tiny myself because usually they want more properties which equals more profit but its not. It’s eco too with everything focused on being more environmentally efficient,
