Congratulations Paul! The new saw will be quite the upgrade, I’m excited to see some videos on it. I won’t say anything more as I don’t want to give it away!
Hmmm, I ordered at the show, but every time I added a dado blade or changed the sliding fence, etc. My order was re written and I lost my place in production. My K945S is supposed to arrive Dec. Since you're saying January, I bet you bought same saw a few days later. At least they had an AD9-41 in Texas. That arrived last week
The production runs at Felder can be a mystery. My profil 45z x-motion was delayed by 6 months because of the shift from the old control panel to the new one.
Salut, je suis impatient de voir la nouvelle machine que tu as commandé, moi si je devais changer ma Felder KF700SP, je crois qu’il n’y a que SCM qui me ferai changer de marque, Martin est trop chère !! 👍👍🇧🇪
Good morning 🌅 Paul , I sure you have made the right decision, I personally like to see the machine and be able to use it before I purchase, I have always done that in the past I sooner go to a place and look at something , then buying something online, And we all know nowadays that these types of machinery are very, very expensive , like buying a car, As for electronics, not a great believer in it , Though saying that my thickness has got a distal readout on it, and I have had problems with that, there has been a lot of controversy, however the electronics on some of the new HD bikes, A lot of people do not like it as you need to take the bike to the main dealer to have any work done it, people have even had the screen go blank which means you can’t start the bike, And I heard over the weekend there’s been 40,000+ bikes being recalled , to do with a wiring issue, Good luck with the rebuild look forward to seeing a bit more of that , and obviously look forward to seeing the new machine in the New Year, I think we all know what it is , 😂, From France
Maybe I should have a poll... Electronics have taken over everything. There are no cars anymore without them. Part of life I guess. I do value the old stuff. At The Alpine Workshops, Joe has some older manual machines from Martin that are really nice and bullet proof - Just analog.
Your story seems almost exactly what I went through earlier this year. I looked at the Martin but couldn’t get the features I wanted unless I bought the T77 and it was at the higher price end - a good saw for sure but with limited support in my location. The Altendorf was good but just too expensive when compared to SCM, Felder and Martin. The SI3 from SCM had everything I wanted and was a good price so I had settled on it but at the last minute Felder came in with an offer on a PCS fitted Kappa 550. The Kappa 450 was missing some features that pushed me to look at the 550. So for me the competition boiled down to the SI3 and the Kappa 550 on predominantly features and price. Also in the back on my mind with OH&S becoming more prevalent it would be easier to sell the PCS equipped machine should I no longer be able to use it. Funny how the thought processes have lined up although all of those machines are very similar in many ways. Cheers
Initially I said a Martin T77 but I'm going to change to the T75 as it has the features you want without the huge additional costs. You skipped over the SCM which makes me doubt my pick but I can tell you research your purchases and I really doubt the pivot on the outrigger on the SCM and I think you would too. BTW, I agree on the safety stuff, expensive to be a guinea pig. Also, why do you have a Kundig sign? Is there some more new equipment coming?
You are very observant. Do not count out Felder and SCM. The Felder x-Roll crosscut system is stout and the SCM 'Full Support' system is too. I know you are doubting the L'invincible, but there is more to it. The Altendorf is also a beast and their parallelogram outrigger is much like Martin's. The Kundig Uniq was in a prior video. I have had it for about 10 months or so. An amazing machine.
The Felder is the cheapest of the four for a reason. High production people are best judges of machinery and in the EU and UK, big factories tend to buy Martins and Altendorfs because they will take punishment in the long term
@@pkwoodworking I cannot comment on the United States but over this side of the pond, production companies might buy lower grade spindle moulders etc but not panel saws. The “Go to” are Altendorf and Martin except in some Mediterranean places where they buy SCM. Felder sell well in the one man, DIY market . Just ask a qualified engineer to compare the design build of the Altendorf slider to the Felder.
can't wait to see you tour us with your new saw!
I am excited to make a bunch of videos
You go through machines faster than I go through bacon. 😂
Well, I have had 5 table saws in 5 decades. Getting my 6th next year. Yeah, I get it, I should stop... agreed
@@pkwoodworking I never said you should stop. Keep going until you get what you want!

Hi Paul. I am sure you are looking forward to delivery of the new saw. Sorry I missed you at the IWF. Steve
Steve, I am bummed that I missed you this time, I could have spent some time talking Hoffmann Dovetail stuff.

Awesome video

My guess is Kappa 550
Hard to beat for the price
Strong pick.

Agreed. The Kappa 550 is a nice machine. Huge capacity and the parking feature for the outrigger is super cool.
"That's not a jointer, THIS is a jointer" 😂
I feel a down under vibe there.

I have heard similar thoughts. But I am often shocked to find really basic machines in higher end shops lasting a long time.
