The AC on my 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 was stuck on defrost. It turns out I had a vacuum issue. Once I repaired the problem everything went back to normal.
I will have pictures of the items I used in the video. No links.

Awesome video. I thought I had a bad actuator under the dash. After watching this, it was only a broken vacuum line coming from the firewall. Lucky for me I had about 2 inches sticking out so was able to stick a hose to it, buy a connector piece for the other end at the check valve. 7 dollars and about 15 minutes of work. I dealt with this problem for a year now, works like new again. Thank you so much.

These were exactly the hints I needed to hunt down a vacuum leak. Great video.

Great video. Thanks for slowing down and not being shaky. Wish I could have had more slack from the old line.

Nice video dude. I have the same truck. '98 Ram 1500 with a 318With over 260k miles on it. And I have a broken dash as well lol and a similar problem with the AC, but I believe I am missing a thin vacuum line coming from wherever it's supposed to come from, not the one going through the firewall. I have no idea where to reconnect the thin line. A retired, ex-Marine mechanic reconnected it for me once, but it broke or came out and I guess I should have been paying more attention to what he did. It was so quick and simple that I was amazed, and now I am not sure how to do it. BTW, you should have blurred out your insurance text dude. Some of it is visible in the video. Don't want to dox yourself.

Watched this video & showed my husband & he found his wasn’t attached at all, must’ve come loose with previous owner. We have not yet got a connector for it. Check engine light came on this morning, do you know what that would be from?

So mine seems to be broken on the cone end of that black vacuum line. Any way to fix that without having to buy the whole assembly from dodge?

New hose and vacuum line what size?! And I have a similar problem except the ac and heater both work and the defrost function doesn't everything comes through the dash vents on the front of the cluster bezel and dash pad vents,I'm thinking I would feed it through the firewall so I can reconnect it cause I tried getting ahold of the line with a mini pair of needle nose pliers but I can't get a grip on the line to fix it.. the one that goes up to the cowl is fine, but this one it's a t fitting and goes to the firewall where the ac hoses are..

"second gen dodge." They've been making Dodge trucks for 100 years now. The Dodge Brothers made trucks for Henry Ford before making them for themselves.

UA-cam has made me realize a long time ago that most mechanics are scum..Its just as risky to do the work yourself until you get it right.

Thanks man lol , I accidentally broken mine , I already bought 30’ of this line cuz I accidentally broke the cruise control vacuum line 2 months ago And I already located the last vacuum line that goes behind the windshield plastic guard it’s on the passenger side as well .
