I watched the movie the first time last night. I did not sleep. Mind you, I do not have nightmares and things usually do not scare me. I've been walking in fields with grass up to my knees in the dark, when I turn my flashlight on only to see the little white orbs of some unknown creatures eyes rushing straight at me many times. It used to startle me at first, but it doesn't anymore. Those sirens from the Tripods though... that is nightmare fuel.
I really found Spielberg remake of the Tripod sound very fitting, just by putting sirens alarm sounds in background, a radio guy speaking about something happening, gunshots in the distance, a storm and the tripod sound can be really terrifying, That’s the real success of this remake using the base novel.

The place your at is quiet empty due to the mass extermination of humans and then... in the distance you hear that sound. Starts quiet at first but increasingly get louder as it gets closer. Imagine the sheer ptsd humanity went through after the Alien invasion. Having to helplessly watch their loved ones be taken from them, either used as nourishment for the tripods or just zapped to dust right in front of them. I’m sure just the sight of a dead tripod would set someone off. I can imagine a survivor of this catastrophe having a nightmare which is just them waking up in their bed, frozen and unable to move like sleep paralysis and this is all they hear outside. Gunfire and Tripods.
I agree! In the book, one fighting machine, the last to die, is left to stand on Primrose Hill, and people can have picnics under it. They even display a martian in the natural history museum. But anyone that survived the two weeks of Martian occupation would have severe PTSD, like the journalist did.

For me the most terrifying thing about the Tripods, aside from the way they kill humans and their visual terror, is the noises they make. There is something about the sounds a tripod makes that is horrifying. It sounds like it is both alive and a machine. The horn is intimidating as hell. And while they are obviously harvesters/slaughterhouses the sounds they make when they move give you that same feeling. If you were to hear a tripod approaching, without actually seeing it, you would get the feeling it is some kind of horrifying harvester.
Imagine being in a basement like in the film, stormy, with these noises in the background. If it was me i'd be in complete fear but awe at the same time, id watch out of the top window bit, and if they came for me, bullet to the head.
Yes if some tripod broke into my house ill surely like to kill myself with a gun, cuz single human cant fight a tripod if those airforce and tanks cant stopped them
You know I always wondered with the 05 tripods if buried weaponry would've taken them out. It's implied on the hill scene that the tripod on fire stepped on mines, meaning that they could be damaged from below, and we already know that Ray took one down from the inside. So I wonder if foxholes would've been effective against them. Or going Empire Strikes Back style and trying to trip them up. The shield certainly wouldn't have stopped damage if the tripod fell over
This is F$@#ing terrifying just imagine you live on farm(by the way this before the aliens make themselves known)your watching TV it's raining pretty hard outside but this just a thunderstorm you think so you paid no mind then suddenly the ground begins to shake like an earthquake but your nowhere near a faltline then the shaking stop and you hear something outside so you go look only to be frozen with fear as a robot bigger than anything on earth steps across the land and than it makes a sound that shook you to the core "oh god" you think to yourself "it's staring right a" but you never even finished your thought as you were blow to ashes your last moments on earth is the horn of a Tripod

For some reason I accidentally put auto play on whilst I was listening to some forest ambiance when I was going to sleep, woke up at like 3am to this playing and nearly shat myself...
I'm listening to this to sleep imagining a scenario which i dreamed: You're a kid, lets say 16 years old, minding its own business, until one day on your way home from school, a portal opens in front of you and a headcrab appears. Not knowing what to do, not knowing what the fuck is that thing, you run home, only to see that no one is home and the TV shows an emergency alert that an alien invasion is occuring. After some hours, your dad comes home, full of alien blood equipped with a shotgun, fully desperate and tired tells you that your mother is now alien food and both of you need to evacuate to an extraction point which the military organized, so you take what you can and leave. Weeks passed and you are in a fortified part of the city, still traumatised you try to get over it and accept that this reality is real... until one day, the sirens go crazy. You feel like fainting, panicked you run in some direction not knowing what is happening. You made into an abandoned apartment, waiting to die eventually. You get scared of a radio picking up some transmission and as you tune in, you hear this: "*static noises*... We have information about another alien invasion that is far more advanced than those alien creatures that we are fighting over a month yet, we don't know how much we will last... *static noises*... we got a message from them that says "prepare for the 7 hour war", what the fuck is that supposed to mean, i... i don't know... for those who hear our transmission, wish for the best of the humankind and stay safe... *static noises*... *the guy forgot to end the transmission and you hear this right before it ended*: i think we are doomed" you start to cry, having a panic attack, you don't know nothing about what's happening right now, you only hear distant half life zombies roaming the streets and your only hope is that they don't find you it gets night, you found a kinda comfortable spot to sleep. as you look through the window, you start to accept the fate of the humankind. after some time, you hear this sound, the alarms, the tripod distant sounds coming closer and closer, and you just stare outside, ready to die and having nothing to lose. you know that this is the end and can't do nothing and at the same time you are calm but also desperate, kinda the fight or flight response. as your heart rushes and the tripod coming closer and closer, you close your eyes and hope it will find you and kill you as fast as possible... after that, it stops... only for you to get blinded by a powerful light.
@@ExodusProto33 You're welcome; truly spectacular theme upload 👍 *Btw the Tripods likely found any hiders eventually; they've their probes; and aliens themselves Come to inspect at the end :D I still remember the Usa army versus the Tripods scene; 0 damage to the alien -war- exterminator machines

@@ExodusProto33 btw i meant that not all the horns are quiet and distant. just some of them to make it actually sound like an invasion all over the place not sure if i'm making sense tho lol
While I can appreciate the premise and its originality for its time, in retrospect it seems rather silly that such longtermist space farers with superior technology would fail to account for germs and other pathogens. If the martians had such a great period of time to prepare, they should've been able to work up some sort of series of vaccines, sterilization procedures and purification equipment. I understand that such things were outside of consideration at the time and kinda undermines the point of the tale, however its definitely one of those sci fis that become more and more fantastical overtime. Another thing that always bothered me was the actual design of the martians as described in the book, they just dont seem feasible to me and I feel it falls into the trope of " Hurr durr, aliens couldnt possibly evolve into anything even remotely humanlike, therefore all aliens must be blobs of flesh, cephalopods, mulluscoids or some other lifeform that would very obviously have difficulties creating advanced technology." If the laws of physics and chemistry are universal, then please be consistent with the laws of biology, as they are restricted by physics and chemistry the same we are. There is no evidence for any non terrestrial lifeforms developing humanlike or even subhuman cognitive capacities, and just because we dont know exactly what all is at the bottom of the ocean doesnt mean that we should just assume that there is some advanced civilization down there. Sure octopi and dolphins are intelligent, but its not human level or even close. They are intelligent for the environments and niches that they occuppy. Like modern alien designs where all the creatures in no way resemble a lifeform that could do what we do is equally as implausible as the depiction of all aliens being humanoids. I feel its an overused trope perpetuated by people who love lovecraftian creatures and eldritch horror. I feel we should consider that humans look and operate the way we do because it is the most fitting form that we could come up in our environment, and thus far the human form and other complex terrestrial lifeforms seem to be the only beings that approach the required threshhold to establish advanced technological societies.
okay, only thing...in the movie it was a dig on how there were no emergency alerts during 9/11-- when they're driving in backwoods jersey or ct or wherever and it starts an emergency alert on the radio...only for them to say "this is a test, if there had been an actual emergency-" y'know? otherwise... :) mmm sweet tripod-y scary goodness! ty

Very nice, these war machines are utterly terrifying and enraptured death itself
An ordinary night in April 2020
Lol Yes
Imagine pausing the video and still hearing the tripod noises.
Aliens are so scary
Holy crap the chills I got when the tripod hit
I'm listening to this to sleep imagining a scenario which i dreamed:
You're a kid, lets say 16 years old, minding its own business, until one day on your way home from school, a portal opens in front of you and a headcrab appears.
You get scared of a radio picking up some transmission and as you tune in, you hear this:
"*static noises*... *the guy forgot to end the transmission and you hear this right before it ended*: i think we are doomed"
you start to cry, having a panic attack, you don't know nothing about what's happening right now, you only hear distant half life zombies roaming the streets and your only hope is that they don't find you
it gets night, you found a kinda comfortable spot to sleep. as you look through the window, you start to accept the fate of the humankind. after some time, you hear this sound, the alarms, the tripod distant sounds coming closer and closer, and you just stare outside, ready to die and having nothing to lose. you know that this is the end and can't do nothing and at the same time you are calm but also desperate, kinda the fight or flight response. as your heart rushes and the tripod coming closer and closer, you close your eyes and hope it will find you and kill you as fast as possible...
after that, it stops... only for you to get blinded by a powerful light.
I can imagine in the book (Act 1, Chapter 10
: In the Storm), when the journalist is going to Leatherhead and he stumbles upon a Martian Tripod
This is truly *Amazing!*
A video of Sheer & Absolute Terror
Hyperadvanced exterrestrials versus the military marching to their assured deaths
If I heard these sounds outside my window I would be hiding in my closet with a mirror lol. Thanks For the Nice Comment!
@@ExodusProto33 You're welcome; truly spectacular theme upload 👍
*Btw the Tripods likely found any hiders eventually; they've their probes; and aliens themselves Come to inspect at the end :D
I still remember the Usa army versus the Tripods scene; 0 damage to the alien -war- exterminator machines
should have added people screaming off in the distance with the tripod lasers being fired off as well
also add more reverb to the tripod horns and make them quieter sometimes to make them sound distant as well
Alright, I'll do that in the next one ty for the feedback
@@ExodusProto33 btw i meant that not all the horns are quiet and distant. just some of them to make it actually sound like an invasion all over the place
not sure if i'm making sense tho lol
@@ihavenoname4139 Lol I see what you mean
Not gonna lie, I can agree on that
okay, only thing...in the movie it was a dig on how there were no emergency alerts during 9/11-- when they're driving in backwoods jersey or ct or wherever and it starts an emergency alert on the radio...only for them to say "this is a test, if there had been an actual emergency-" y'know?
otherwise... :) mmm sweet tripod-y scary goodness! ty
I'm gonna buy a speaker and play this at full volume
0:40 phone eas starts
0:47 alarms start
1:05 eas ends
1:32 tripod horns start
1:50 walking starts
1:58 machine guns start
2:14 sirens end
3:00 people begin to realize there not doing anything
The coolest thing for me is that in the last 3 minutes the sounds of gunfire become smaller, and at the end of the last two minutes they stop altogether, which means that the military lost...
Perectly creepy, awesome
Thx!
Love the ambience of this video.
I recently watched the BBC adaptation of War of the Worlds. I was a tad disappointed that it didn’t follow the book as closely as I had hoped. I was hoping that since it was set in the late 1800’s they’d be more faithful to the novel.
1:31 What you were harvested to this precise location for.
i'm listening to this while editing and i'm not even sure why lol it's honestly pretty cool
0:17 this is the coolest image that u have
THE SOUND OF HORROR FANTASTIC
I wanna get a giant speaker and play this when it rains
I would love for this movie to be remade again with 2020 new filming technology!
It would be simply amazing.
They are making a new one, but it sucks more than a pornstar
*happens in real life*
And a better plot, with less screaming children
Ah some nice peaceful sounds to fall asleep too
everybody gangsta until they realize that there device is muted
The sound of the horn makes my very expensive headphones rumble haha
I wish I could make a series of shorts following different people trying to survive the attack
