  • This is a re-release of one of our earlier videos which was taken down due to a misunderstanding. We thought it was important to repost since the comments on the previous version of the video indicated that it really resonated with much of our audience. Thanks for watching!
    -------
Today I'm sharing our story of moving to the country. We dreamed for too long of moving out of the suburbs to start a homestead in the country.
While I was dreaming of moving to the country, I watched channels like
@Arms Family Homestead , @Outdoors With The Morgans , and @Buckin' Billy Ray Smith to keep the dream alive. If you're dreaming of moving out to some land, I hope this video inspires you to go for it, too!

Man oh man!!! This video hit me in my soul when you mentioned the "freedom of owning rural land." That is exactly what I am talking about. It was truly in my heart to be a land owner in the country and I had discussed it with my wife a million times. It got to the point where she told me to my face "if you are serious about owning land then you need to make it happen." I replied " roger that and started calling the real estate agent and then onto the land owner." Low and behold we went out to the property and my wife opens the passenger door of our truck and says "oh its beautiful here." There we go and the rest is history. We purchased 4.25 acres and are now in the process of having a shop built on the land. Early next year we will putting our home in the suburbs up for sale and then relocating to our property in the country. Thank you for this video. It is pure inspiration.

We were living on the West Coast and didn’t want to raise our young son there. We got rid of most of our possessions, sold our house and spent about a month looking for the right property in the Midwest while living in our travel trailer.
Found 14 acres with a big new house, a pond , two streams, some woods and a one acre pond. We bought it and couldn’t be happier.
We’ve started an orchard, a chicken coop and run, this fall we’re putting in the start of a vineyard and we’re two years into restoring the soil so that we can grow things. Oh, we also in the process of starting bee keeping.

I think that I watched your Homesteading playlist backwards, because most of the questions that I had previously have been asking, been answered in later videos. For example, my request for UA-cam Channels similar to yours.
How did you move out the country?
    Those outtakes are funny.
How do you go from constantly watching homesteading videos and living vicariously through those UA-camrs and transition into doing it yourself? It is such a big step. How do you handle it in bite size steps?

I'm glad you're finding some helpful stuff on the channel. You're right. It is a big step. I'm sure you have a lot of plans and dreams for your homestead. It can be too much to try to do all at once. Do what you can with your time and resources, and be content to grow slowly. We are 4 years in and are still growing, adding, and tackling projects that we have been dreaming of since the beginning. Doing too much all at once can cause burn out. Maybe you can make a list of things you want to do on the property and then prioritize them by order of importance or by order of difficulty, so you can tackle the easiest ones first. For purchases, you can also make a prioritized list so you know what order you want to make your purchases.

My wife and I currently have 3 boys ages 7 and under and we have been dreaming of owning our own land since we met 10 years ago. We have slowly been working our way toward that goal but it still feels so far out of reach. I too tend to live vicariously through other people’s channels but we are in constant prayer that if this is what the Lord wants for us, then it’s what we will continue to work towards. Our biggest disire is to have a place for our kids to grow up on and have a life on and to be able to bless other people through our land. Right now we live in a downtown city where it’s stuffy and loud and just not a great place to raise a small family. But we are plugging away. Thanks for sharing and for being open about your journey.

Keep praying and working towards your goals. God will make it clear if you continue to look to Him for guidance. Thanks for sharing your story. This right here is why I started this channel, for people like yourself. God bless you and your family!

Your message is so real. I feel the same way surrounded by houses. If it wasn't for my best friend Winston, who has 100 acres, his tractor and the two of us cutting firewood, I would have lost my mind. Like you, I had to provide and keep the kids close to school and work. But I need to make a change in the next 5 years, to be realistic. You're a smart man Glen, you made a smart move❤
