This was a bit of a sad project for the homestead. These two beautiful oaks were perfectly healthy. I hate to cut down healthy trees, especially when we have lost so many trees on the homestead in the last two summers of drought in Texas. However, in this case, it was necessary.
Since we are adding on to our house, the carport had to come down and be rebuilt on the other side of the driveway. These two trees were right in the way of where we will need to pull in and out of the carport. So, as much as I didn't want to cut down these trees, I needed to.

Didn’t expect you to skid them with the truck when you’ve got that Kioti tractor! Did you have to touch up the driveway after that? Looked like the trees turned up the gravel pretty good.

Yea. It probably seems off for me to skid them instead of hauling them with my tractor. I've found that when I'm bringing them down to the woodyard, I would have to cut each of those trees up several times to bring those trees down, but instead, I opted for a little driveway rework instead of making a mess near the house. My brush/burn piles are down by my woodyard. I'm also planning to redo my drive anyway after a construction project I'm currently working on at the house.

It's been great! I love it. I feel much safer hauling equipment and materials around. I'm very thankful to have it.
