Thank you Filbert. This was the first review I've seen for which the videographer was well prepared and had read the manual more or less. The others were largely guilty of throwing sh*t against the wall to see what sticks. To FSDreamTeam, and other developers out there, please send free copies of MSFS 2020 thingme's to FilbertFlies for proper reviews in the future.
A little bit of aviation trivia for you: The vehicle you referred to as a "scissor lift" is actually called a "main deck loader". Tip of the hat to my Dad (now passed) who used to manage Hongkong Air Terminal Services Ltd. (aka HATS), the baggage handling company at Hong Kong's old Kai Tak airport back in the day.
Oh thank you! I'm rubbish with proper names for airport vehicles & equipment - I had to look up what ULDs are called, even though I've been told hundreds of times!
Not aimed at me as I'm a casual who only flies GA VFR, but this looks incredible. I love the ever increasing immersion this sim offers. Great video as always!
It’s been a decade since I worked on the ramp side of airline operations, but the catering service looks a bit off. I don’t recall the walkway from the catering truck ever moving as that would make it difficult to move carts from the truck to the aircraft due to different heights. It’s usually fixed in place and a guide person helps the driver position their vehicle right to the aircraft. The side rails are then moved forward to provide a little safety. In this program you have a floppy ramp without side protection. If the real world worked like this you would have catering staff and their carts falling onto the ramp, probably taking out some baggage handlers in the process.
@Ryan Stevens also the loading process is off aswell, we usually start loading by the front and then finish to the back. I don't understand why the bus is in the middle side of the aircraft ,it should be close to front stairs, but for the rear stairs I saw some airports doing this soo. To see that again on the Autrian A320...not happy with they've done
Thanks for the review, you really gave a good insight in the functionality. Having used this addon long ago in FSX, the quality for msfs is rather dissappointing, was expecting way more polish. I'm no developer, but i can imagine it is hard to make characters look realistic etc. For 40 euro's i just expect more. If it will be released in this state it doesn't do much for immersion for me and it's hard to see the value.
Thank you for making such an informative video, at $46.40 CAD I am having a very hard time justifying the cost, especially given the fact that you were having issues with the parking brake for deboarding with the A32NX which is my primary aircraft. I hope this issue is resolved because that is a deal breaker for me. *Subscribed*
Nicely done preview thanks. @devs - hope the minor glitches are resolved and echo the desire for a "toolbar" pushback like mouse based interface for the path edits.
As always, thanks for the review. GSX refueling is trick to use with PMDG 737 by default. However, when using a SimBrief flight plan (be sure to read the requirements to make that work on p. 60 of the manual), it will behave correctly and do a progressive refuel. You still have to manually set the required fuel on the fuel page when it asks, so you will immediately be fully fueled as far as the airplane is concerned, but the fuel truck will "deliver" the fuel in real time, so it is mostly realistic. I can't remember if I have the always use progressive fuel option checked (flying right now, so can't look), but anyway, that is how to get it to work for the 737-700. I think you can also set the starting fuel value, call the truck, and then set the desired fuel and it will give you the correct time adjusted fueling period--though you won't see the fuel increasing on the gauges provided progressive fueling is turned on.
EASA refuelling and boarding at the same time has its own rules and mostly forbidden in hot air conditions so Whenever possible, passengers should be disembarked prior to the commencement of fuelling after flight arrival and boarded for departure after completion of any necessary refuelling.
That fuel truck was a bit worrying. The last thing you would want to pump into a jet engine tanks is AVGAS 100LL. That is 100 octane low lead fuel for piston engines. JET A1 as shown on the FENIX is correct.
@filbertFlies I cant quite remember what it looks like, but was the GPU with the Fenix the Fenix one or the GSX? The PMDG one doesn't work with it, seemingly, from what I've seen.
Thank you for a really informative video on this! I have used GSX in FSX and the GSX 2 Expansion in P3D and am familiar with it too. It's great to see it finally making it to MSFS! However, I will perhaps wait until the bugs are ironed out. Vehicles driving through the aircraft, Fuel Trucks parking under the wing to fuel (not allowed - they usually park just outside the safe area marked by the cones and run the lines up to the wing before connecting to start fuelling) and the Signal Man on the ground talking to you without any obvious radio! (usually they are connected via their headset and a long line to the aircraft plugin - it would be nice to see that added. Can't think it would be too difficult). Interesting that the GSX Jetways actually penetrate the skin far more than some of the addon sceneries I have reviewed where they have custom jetways (do these GSX Jetways fully remove any custom ones as well as Asobo defaults? Can the defaults/custom ones be restored should you need to?) The people animations are really good, but maybe getting the signal man to "bend" before he walks though the aircraft skin would be a huge reality improvement. And they really need to simplify the Customise Pushback option - it's far too complicated. But like you, it will be so much better when users start to fill the community with custom airport GSX setups! Thanks for this video. It is perhaps one of the better ones I have seen. And I have subscribed - something I should have done ages ago, sorry. All the best - Lee
I've got to be honest, the bugs you mention have been in the P3D version for years. Having been brought across to the MSFS version, I don't hold out much hope for them being fixed now. Interesting insight on the headset connection - I expected this to happen, but wondered briefly if they were all wireless now. Anyway, i'd say you should get it in spite of the bugs - it adds so much to the experience. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the feedback. :-)
@@FilbertFlies I may yet buy it, but not yet. And I have sat on the ramp in my airside car and watched hundreds of pushbacks - never have I seen a signalman use Wireless to talk to the cockpit crew! Normally he’ll walk alongside the tug about 2 metres away holding the cable which plugs into the box on the front of the nose gear leg. Thanks for a very informative video. Lee
considering all the other reviews I've watched so far about this product, I must say I was a bit surprised by yours. I like the idea of GSX but not too impressed by the implementation or the pricing at this point. Maybe when they roll out version 2.0. Thanks for your review as always, love the channel.
thanks, this is what i called a proper review, not just a product placement or a way to get views. You missed the part concerning to deicing though. But overall a great review.
Yes, there was a lot I didn't cover. I originally wanted this to be a 10 minute video, and when it got to 40 minutes and I'd spent 9 hours on it I thought 'that's enough now'! Deicing is cool, as is custom paths for passengers to the terminal, as is modifying stands and pushbacks. But I wanted this to show the main features that people will use every day, and the exciting potential for adding VDGS to every airport, and I feel it did this.
9:20 I think the problem here might be, that the doors height above ground change with the weight of the aircraft. And as far as I know the stairs of GSX can only dock to one fixed height per aircraft, depending on the configuration file.
Oh that's an interesting thought actually. Hadn't occurred to me. You may well be right, and this lowering of the aircraft as it gets heaver didn't exist in P3D IIRC.
You're In for a fun time. I also bought it thinking it was gonna be like the P3D version...I was wrong. So many bugs and unrealistic animations and unrealistic wait times it's insane. It doesn't take 3 minutes for a pushback tug to connect to an aircraft. It's horrid. Wish I could refund
Great review, thank you. Can you use the mouse in the custom pushback feature like you could in P3D? That makes some of the actions a little easier. Otherwise, it looks good and I am sure that the bugs will get ironed out quickly.
Would be nice if we could use it on IVAO or VATSIM the followme and edit the txwy and directions for taxing ourselves given by the ATC on the network…. Just something GSX could look into!!
@@FilbertFlies thanx but not exactly the same thing… i can also use msfs without gsx if we go by that thought 💭 but i also know what you mean… not the same thing i meant …. 😆
Yesterday I purchased the gsx pro for msfs and when i press the installation button it starts to download after that nothing changes. Also t can't find the cuatle 64. Any Ideas how to fix it?
Awesome review, very thorough. 👍 Thank you. One thing that's very important to me is to see how the custom jetways behave at night, in fact it has become a huge pet peeve of mine. Some dev's have been adding exceptional realism into their 3rd party airports by adding amber rotating or flashing warning lights on top of the jetway or near the wheels. Additionally, dev's have been adding white lights that illuminate the entrance of the aircraft as the jetways approaches the final docking stage. I'd be interested to know if the GSX custom jetways have incorporated this feature? Additionally, how do the GSX jetways affect some the gorgeous jetways that some 3rd party dev's have already incorporated into their airports?
I haven't actually seen what they look like at night yet. Will check this out on a stream soon. But yes, as Smeagol says, you can choose not to have GSX replace the jetways as any airport you like, which is particularly useful for the best 3rd party airports with good custom jetways.
@@FilbertFlies That's great they won't interfere with well modeled jetways from 3rd party airports with the exclude feature. Okay, very well if you could , pls let me know if the GSX Pro has night lighting and warning lighting during night time. Thanks.
@@FilbertFlies after watching a few more reviews and visiting the FSDT site, suddenly my wallet jumped out of my pocket 😉and I’m happy to report the answer is a big YES!!! My pet peeve has been remedied, the jetway lights are all working like a charm.👍
Dear FSDreamTeam, can you not do something easy and intuitive for custom pushbacks like Better Pushback does in XP11, with a top down view, where you just create the path of the aircraft with your mouse? This is akin to Toolbar Pushback for MSFS and is so much easier and faster.
Sadly a year later couatl still never initializes properly (always have to start it manually) and I have to click GSX menu more than once to open it. The fuel truck also keeps getting stuck at the end of the fueling cycle and never leaves which holds up all the other services. If anyone know how to fix this, let me know. Overall I do enjoy the product but it does not work at every airport. Custom airports must be customized to utilize GSX. A lot of stands are "too small" even though they are not but you can manually customize. Thanks for posting!
I get it. But I don't. It adds immersion but that immersion is broken because people and vehicles clip through stuff and other random things. Thanks for the preview though!
I haven't yet tried it on the CRJ. Whether or not there's a default profile included, it will be possible to customise the aircraft config to make it work.
Whenever i do operate stairs instead of start boarding first and then try board it tells me that my left forward entry door is closed but its open, this is for the pmdg 737 800. Am i doing something wrong?
Hey Filbert, great video - I'm signing up to their forums to ask this but any ideas why my GSX Pro would be crashing to desktop as soon as passengers start to board? Thank you :)
Maybe you should do a follow up video of your most recent expereinces with this program and the assistance replies you got. Just read and commented on your FSDT thread.
I have considered it. But at the same time, it'd be another day's work and I've devoted more of my life than I wish to this programme already. Also, I don't think our experience is particularly typical. If people haven't used the P3D version, and installed this fresh, I don't think they'd experience what we've experienced.
@@FilbertFlies no I’ve never used p3d. I come from xp. I can’t get it to work myself. Invisible trucks and carts, invisible passengers. Now I get no buildings at destination airports. It has worked fine but next flight it doesn’t, it’s like it corrupts itself for me for no reason. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled more times than I can recall now myself. Many hours wasted and all the programmer does is blame everything wise except his really bad product that I paid $50 AUD for because everyone was saying how good it was. Anyway I too won’t be giving it anymore of my time. Cheers.
To use GSX in the sim, I have to first run the couatl scripting engine every time. It is a real pain. Any known solutions to have run automatically or transparently? I have it shortcutted to my desktop. One option might be to add to batch files to be run when opening MSFS through the MSFS Addon Linker.
How did you manage to get 2 stairs attached to your plane? Mine only connects 1, and even in the editor there just isnt a second chair. Anyway i can add another stairway?
It depends on the aircraft. Defaults (and their mods, like FBW, WT etc) only tend to have one door that works. PMDG, Fenix etc all have two working doors by default.
I'm not 100% clear on what GSX World will offer to be honest, other than that it's a cut-down version of GSX pro. It will definitely replace jetways and vehicles, but the manual is slim on details about what else it'll do. Best to wait for its release, or at least until something official is published by FSDT, to be sure of what it does I think.
hi, the pilots don't get on, only the passengers, why?often before I can call the pushback, I open the gsx and it tells me loading, without which I can no longer even use the pushback of the simulator, especially with the airbus 330 300 I stand still and I can't start, also the jetway, they are not all like the one you showed, with the fenix where you can see the passengers entering, for example in Malpensa, they are closed, and in others too, how can I get all the jetways like this with glass where can you see the passengers getting on?
I’m unfortunately met with “couatl scripting engine failed to start” or “Could not find valid AFCAD data in this position”. Havnt been able to enjoy it yet

I haven't yet tried it on the CRJ. Whether or not there's a default profile included, it will be possible to customise the aircraft config to make it work.
Surprised how GSX is coming out quicker than the QW 787 itself... :(
Whenever i do operate stairs instead of start boarding first and then try board it tells me that my left forward entry door is closed but its open, this is for the pmdg 737 800. Am i doing something wrong?
Hey Filbert, great video - I'm signing up to their forums to ask this but any ideas why my GSX Pro would be crashing to desktop as soon as passengers start to board? Thank you :)
None at all I'm afraid, but I've started having performance issues and sim crashes since flying with the release version too.
@@FilbertFlies Least it's not just me, hoping they iron out these issues, hearing many are having all types of crashes etc.
Nice!
Thank you for the great video! Do you know if GSX will have interaction with the Ai aircraft in the airports?
I'm not certain about this, but I don't think so.
Cheers.
Could your next video be one of how to install airport profiles
To use GSX in the sim, I have to first run the couatl scripting engine every time. It is a real pain. Any known solutions to have run automatically or transparently?
I have it shortcutted to my desktop.
One option might be to add to batch files to be run when opening MSFS through the MSFS Addon Linker.
guys the vehicles and passengers are stuttering on my sim thats since 1-2 month like that how can i fix it ?
The baggage handler's arent accurate as they aren't yeeting your suitcase upside down onto the belts xD
Just bought it but GSX does not show up in toolbar for me
If you change the parking size or airline codes, does it apply for ai planes too?
No, it's purely for you when you use that gate.
Could you tell me the difference between GSX pro and GSX world for Xbox? Thank you!
Read the manual.
are this is warking in b737 max8 ? end how to danloud GSX ?
Thx for the video.Do you know if is available for smaller airports and less known airlines?
It should work everywhere but I don't think you'll find any liveried ground vehicles for smaller airlines.
When will the full version be released? How can I get the BETA version?
@Filbertflies: Does the weight of the plane change as the passengers boared and deboard? Also same with luggage, fuel, other items and so fourth...
No. It doesn't affect the weight of the plane at all.
RIP filbert
I'm still here!
Is there support for multiple jetways on larger aircrafts? Like 2/3 Jetways Connected to a 747?
I don't believe there is, sadly.
@@FilbertFlies Thanks for the answer. Do you think this feature will be coming in the future?
Uh lol in my config menu i dont have passenger section i only have boarding and deboarding pls help
I'm a UA-camr dude. You should contact the people who make the software - FSDreamTeam.
Can't wait !!!!!
Anyone knows about the price ?
I’m unfortunately met with “couatl scripting engine failed to start” or “Could not find valid AFCAD data in this position”. Havnt been able to enjoy it yet
