if you scan out with your ticket to the smoking section, you can go hit up the bars just outside the park for $2 beers... used to do this all the time... watch the first inning, go to the bar and get sauced up,, come back for the 7th to watch the end
The Rogers Centre (Blue Jays) is just finishing a 2 year renovation plan. The 100 level seats should be much better for baseball now and will have this new innovation: cup holders!
My take: removing seats and adding bars and clubs will make these ballparks more accommodating to the fans with deeper pockets and less accommodating to the casual fans.
Boycott the mega prices for beer....not only in Cleveland, but all of these other stadiums also. After the game for the price of the beers you consumed at the park you and your friends or family can have a meal....at a restaurant of your choice.
Doesn't seem like it's an improvement but we'll see when they're done renovating. They seem to be somewhat butchering what was once a beautiful stadium !
It's going to be very strange to see the former Terrace Club as a construction site during this upcoming season. Regardless, I'm curious to see how all of the final renovations will turn out and how popular they'll be. Thank you for giving us an update on this project. From Erie PA, I commend you on another job well done, sir!
Right field open bar/social area and Left field a beer garden, appears Solar panels as well to be installed. I'm surprised they would leave a white tarp around the Terrance Club for the entire season.
Far cry from the days when Albert Belle's mammoth playoff grand slam was framed by screaming fans along the left field upper deck stands as that ball sped towards the packed left field bleacher seats. I even liked the old auxiliary digital scoreboard that gave folks watching at home the exact day and date the game was being played. As a Yankees fan, I recall seeing Derek Jeter's first home run framed by that left field wall telling folks it was April 2nd, 1996. Good old Phil Rizzuto on WPIX 11 calling the shot at then Jacob's Field. ❤
It’ll be nice in 2025 once it’s done but might be awkward for this year. Think the seating will about even out. They took out four sections in left and put back four sections in right. Lots of the improvements are internal (team offices, clubhouse, etc.) but it will be an improvement.
I keep seeing comments here and elsewhere that these renovations and other similar projects around the MLB are good for casuals and hurt the true baseball fans. I don’t understand this argument, if u wanna watch the game don’t go to social areas and watch the game. Am I missing something?
Red seats would look better. And I think it has too many bars. They already have “the corner”. I would’ve left the upper deck seats alone and just made the Terrence club a beer garden like they’re going to, I don’t think the ball club needs 4 - 5 bars.
I would rather stand or have a common area to watch a game. The seating has always been too close if someone is on both sides of you. You could barely eat your food in comfort. Plus always having to get up walking through the aisles.
I know that Guardians fans are kind of split when it comes to these new renovations. But consider what you had to put up with prior to 1994? Hang in there Cleveland.
Wonderful when the Indians were owned by the Jacobs. Funny how the Indians and Redskins both became woke teams and botched their renovations. Really sad. Shout out to the Chiefs and Braves and other teams who kept their history and names and didn't go woke. As far as the Indians....looks like it will be a stadium full of bars. And since the organization is woke it will be a free for all and anarchy...but no police, no crimes.
Oh no this trend is WORSE than anything else, aside from the awful rule changes. Removing ticket booths is awful. Its nwo anti cash agenda. That is SO Depressing. This was my second fav. After Oriole Park. Its been Gutted and trashed. Oh no. So sad
They constantly sell out the standing room only areas and its one of the most social and, imo, fun areas of the ballpark. Lots of young people eager to spend $$$ on drinks and a fun time at the ballpark. If MLB wants to keep fans interested, this is what those type of fans want
Terrace club was consistently under utilized for the last decade+ and will still include a unique viewing experience once completed. Look up renderings of what that area will look like.
I think this is evidence of MLB dying. IMO, don't be surprised if you see the number of MLB teams "shrink" in the next 10 years. I am an old guy, and IMO, the game today isn't as entertaining to watch. I used to long for baseball season, as well as every game. But, unfortunately, not any more. Every batter seems to want to hit home runs. The shift rules and bigger bases have brought back "small ball" (which I like, by the way), but still, IMO, the batters are still trying to hit home runs. They want the stats. They want the big contracts. The starting pitchers rarely make it past the 4th inning. They all want to throw 100+ miles per hour. Gone is the art of pitching. Sad.
Not necessarily, it’s just smarter to renovate to make the stadium look better. Look at nba, nhl, and mls stadiums are all smaller capacity and for this reason it’s a lot easier to sell out games. An avg mlb game is still attracting close to 30k per game, and especially this year mlb had its highest in attendance in over a decade. While you may not have that same passion for the game I can tell you me and many others still do. Maybe that’s just the kid in me (young 20s) but I still look forward to baseball every year

Just sad what this has become. Dolan bowed to the woke MLB and the comish Manford to drop chief wahoo and the Indians name to get a all star game which has upset probably 90% of the fan base. Dolan does not care about putting money into this team for top FA signings hence why the organization is taking seats out because more and more people are not coming! They can say they are making the fan experience better but in reality they are putting in standing room only areas, more bars and food to try and get people to spend more dollars from the less attendance they have experienced since causing all the problems. Mr Dolan should sell the team to the minority ownership and hopefully the first move they can make is atleast restore the name Indians! The Guardians name is awful and the second thing that should happen is go get some power hitting to go with all that pitching! If you put a championship caliber team on the field the fans have showed we will show out! 455 straight sellouts is all that needs to be said if we can get a good owner like Dick Jacob's was in the 90's. Until then it's mediocre finishes with low attendance!!
Way to go Dolan family now that minority woke left and Mainstream media are long gone... With the new drink areas, another 10-cent beer night promotion is in order... At least it would dull the memories of a formally great MLB franchise... Sad.
I think Cleveland should just build a brand new ballpark to seat around 40,000 fans, to me, they are wasting money to renovate a 30 year old ballpark, and I don’t think the renovations are going to work out that well either, sad, but true
