Y did you not place the anenome right side up with wave makers off wait for it to get foot hold and turn them back on bet it would have worked idk what the heck you were thinkin lol
That’s silly. I used a small turkey baster to feed my clowns brine shrimp. They would come up and grab the food. I would feed them near the nems. The nems would sting them, and over time got used to it. Over time they started loving on them.
Just got a magnificent anemone yesterday afternoon. Had 2 clown fish in my tank 220 gallon reef For about six months. They would not host anywhere except for on the right hand side of the tank near the return line from the return pump. I shut they flow off to the tank and turned off all the wave makers. Placed the anemone very close to where they were hosting around the return lines. After the anemone had its foot planted on the rock work it was time for the lights to go out. Woke up this morning and low and behold one of the clown fish was hosting in the brand new anemone. Less than 12 hours. I didn't do a thing but put it close to where they were hanging out in the tank already. The main thing is to turn off the flow until the anemone gets a good foothold. Then you can turn your power heads and wave makers.back on.
Thank you for this idea. I also have a new mag. My clowns hang at the bottom of the tank, so I was worried he wouldn't have enough light. I'm an idiot for not thinking about putting his rock close to them at bedtime.
I bought an anemone for my clowns last Saturday. I watched this video to get some ideas. The anemone took home near where my clowns would rest at night but they left that area for a while. The female would come up close to inspect the anemone but wouldn’t touch it. I remember in the video you said you tried showing a gif of a clown in an anemone but that you tried it and didn’t work. I said what the heck let me try and I I looked up a video and played it couple of times on the side of my tank. The clowns got close to the glass to where the video was playing. That same day which was yesterday at night when I came home I found the female hosting the anemone I couldn’t believe it. Now I’m not saying that was what triggered it but man I’m happy what ever it was worked. Unfortunately I didn’t document me playing the video or anything because I thought for sure it wasn’t going to work but then again I can’t say for sure that was what did it.
Thanks for the video, purchasing an anemome this coming weekend...i will def try this method, allowing AM to settle before letting the fish go...subscribed!
I’ve been feeding my black occelaris clownfish near a rainbow bubble tip and after a week it’s finally working! They are now hanging out by it a lot, hopefully hosting soon :)
That’s what I’ve been doing and I’ve seen results! My clowns now look at the rainbow bubble tip as a feeding station and my male and female both lay in it
@@codyshubin1073how long did it take you guys I’m still currently feeding my clownfish near my large bubble tip still not hosting yet but still search for food near the anemone they started since last week since I started
It took 7 months for my juvenile pair to notice my nem after I gave up the first month. I tried all methods mentioned here. On the 7th month I notice the pair started nipping together at my hand when I got to their "corner". I moved the Nem back there on that corner that night, and in the next 2 days, I found them inside the Nem. I think what helped is I didn't put my hand in the aquarium for a long time.
I’ve always said, the biggest danger to our reefs is ourselves 😅 we mean well, but keeping hands outside the tank usually makes for great thing happening like happier fish and corals
It’s a glorious day when your clownfish finally decides to make the anemone you bought its home :) Comment down below if you’ve found other ways to successfully host anemones folks!
I did exactly the same thing!!! He was fully in the anemone everyday until I released both of them to the tank, since then he’s just ignoring the anemone… been 2-3weeks now
Used my iPad on the side of my tank with my type of clownfish and nem on the screen with an hour long video then left. I came back and they were in the anemone
You need to turn your pumps off let it get established in a low current area then add the fish and turn the pumps back on I did it last night it took an hour and a half
My female is currently sitting in an acrylic tube until she figures out wtf an anemone is. My 7 males (harem tank) are all looking at her trying to figure out wtf is going on lol
Very easy. Get the anemone before getting the clownfish. When you get the clownfish don’t give them a chance to chose a random corner. Place a breeding cage over the anemone and trap the new clownfish inside the cage with the anemone. Keep them like this for a few days and they will host with the anemone. Can also buy the anemone and the clownfish at the same time and transport them together in the same bag.
Yea but the way I see it is they have that evolutionary instinct to live with anemone right? They don't need to experience that to go, "oh shit we symbiotic now??" etc. What I'm saying is, its so amazing that captive bred clowns just KNOW to swim into an anemone with complete disregard for safety lol
That’s the green mandarin! Love this guy 💪 I have a video on my channel somewhere that talks about the care tips for these guys. If you want a red version, look up the ruby res dragonettes ☺️
Hey I don’t have an anemone yet, however, I have this big frog spawn I want my clownfish to host. Do you think this video will help it host the frogspawn?
No guarantees with the frogspawn! 😅 in my experience, when clownfish choose euphyllia for their hosts, it’s usually by accident. I have also found that most of the time, the corals don’t like it, so i personally wouldn’t encourage it 😊
Sorry @Juan Jose Cid Herrera I just saw this! I imagine the more aggressive of the two clownfish is probably your female, and that happens all the time too
Y did you not place the anenome right side up with wave makers off wait for it to get foot hold and turn them back on bet it would have worked idk what the heck you were thinkin lol
🤣🤣🤣 someone else asked the same question, and honestly, I was NOT thinking 😅 worked out in the end though!

Its a hit or miss for ocellaris & percula. If you want a clownfish that have a higher chance of living in the anemone, get a clarkii or a tomato.
Great take!
I once posted the anemone pics around a 10 gallon tank and the clown jumped right into the anemone. I promise you, I am not a terrible person.
You’re kidding me! This is incredible 😅 did you get it on video??
I have done the picture and it has worked for me twice. Don't know why you think that is a terrible idea
I liked the video and shared experience. But, don’t add a caption “works every time” when you don’t know what’ll eventually work.
“60% of the time, it works every time” haha
This an excellent video man. Thankyou so much. Just started a 13.5. You helped way much!!!

You should turn off the flow when adding an anemone or else they fly around the tank
Amen, great advice which I forgot to add!
That just gave me a nerdgasm

I actually did this for two weeks. Every other day for about an hour. Today I came in and saw them both hosting my BTA. Couldn’t be happier
