Two issues I usually have with PaB. In store they never have what I need for whatever current MOC I'm building. It's always "That'd be cool to have for later I guess." And PaB online I've never run into it being cheaper than BrickLink. But I'm only buying for what I need for that current MOC I'm designing, and it's usually small numbers of parts. So, I guess if you're amassing 100s or 1000s of parts for large displays, than yeah...but you still have to compare. I currently need the grass from the Tallneck set for a big HZD display, and the 3 pieces I need x 50 is about twice as much on PAB online.

Oh yeah, BrickLink is definitely better than Online PAB. And Online PAB/ BrickLink is the only reliable place to get the parts you need for a MOC. PAB in store is just great to stock up on parts for down the road, or as I've explained in videos before, great to inspire you to build something!
As a kid I used to go to the LEGO store once a year and buy a few PAB cups and then come home and build away.

PAB, in whatever form (whether at the Lego store or a recycled brick pit in independent shops) is a boon to the MILS builder who constantly needs 4 x 1 Technic bricks, large plates, and 2 x 2 bricks where the color doesn't matter.

I have a stupid question... so I recently went to a Lego Store, (different one that I'm not used to), and I brought my Large Boxes to be used to refill, because being introduced the first time I was told to reuse my boxes for a discount... me and my fiancé showed up with boxes, and employee told us they no longer do refill discounts after March 29th... I can not for the life of me find ANYONE talking about this anywhere, no where mentions that refill policy was being discontinued, no where about other's coming across this news... they still gave the discount and let us do it this time around, but that just completely turned me off from ever wanting to purchase Lego straight from the store ever again. Yes, you save some money on some great hard to get more expensive pieces than to shop via online, but with prices going up constantly, and this includes the cost of living, Lego needs to come back off their greedy high horse and start realizing that people can't keep up with these expenses, and to remove a program that even gave any incentive to continue shopping with a discount is a really bad move. The question is, is this info accurate, or is there something more going on? (CA, USA here).

No not a stupid question at all!
I have heard from official sources who are not authorized to speak on the record that the refill program has indeed been discontinued. I don't think this change was communicated to anyone (makes sense, companies don't normally promote taking away a good service). I didn't hear that March 29 was the official date but I did hear it would be by end of Q1.
Sorry that happened to you- that sucks!

@@brickloverbrad Thank you for responding, I hope it doesn't get you in any trouble for speaking up about it also. I hope if Lego listens to the community that we won't be doing PAB for a while until they at least bring back down prices or possible return with the service (I literally went out of my way to preserve my boxes to use them again and again, because if they are forcing people to just buy new boxes, that's still a lot of waste, including factories that make paper goods are considered one of the higher polluters in the industrial world. some stats showed more pollution than plastic factories, mind it it depends on the plastic. surprisingly it's the less recyclable ones that are considered less pollution making than the paper products like bags and cardboard). So for an 'eco-friendly' and 'concerned' company trying to lower pollution, this discontinuation is doing technically the opposite of that. Most people don't know this info though, and I would say most companies bank on people not knowing so they can get away with saving themselves money while costing the consumers more. on top of the raising of prices... I'm starting to look into alternate bricks to fill my hobby and hopefully force a competition for Lego to start doing better, for a company that states "only the best is good enough." I'm really questioning what they define is their best, for consumer or for themselves. Sorry for the rant. I do enjoy your content, and looking forward to seeing more.
