Despite not enjoying DS3 as much as the other 2, I actually really liked Carver and always remember the line "Its gas that eats your face!" I hope if they decide to continue Dead Space after the remake that Carver is still there co-op or not.
To be fair. Carver was only made to appease the forced multiplayer that EA wanted. Isaac was to be the focus but they gave Carver something to say the least. That being said. Because Carver exists. I would of liked two full stories in DS 3 as well.
@@joshshin6819 Coop was always the original plan for DS3 it’s just that the evil Isaac got turned into John Carver to make the story more appealing to the broader audience.

Dead Space is really dark.
No, he's the descendant of Jack Carver from Far Cry 1 and 2, which explains why he's such a baddass! Haha not likely but still it's a pleasant thought.
According to John Calhoun in a USA Today article, during development his surname was actually Cooper, as a pun derived from Co-Op, but changed it to Carver for the fact a Carver, well, carved bodies, which is very Dead Spacey. It's probably also your point as well, but I haven't heard of that before, so if you wouldn't mind sourcing it. Knowing this fact, though, I like to pretend that his middle name is Cooper, giving rise to Sergeant John Cooper Carver. Edit: Odd, I thought Clarke's first name was from Isaac Asimov.

You’re almost right about Isaac’s name. He was named after Isaac Asimov (though Newton was not involved), but his last name is based on another science fiction author, Arthur C. Clarke.
Yep! That was story of John Carver in Dead Space Liberation comic before search Isaac Clarke in Dead Space 3 begin. Love it! I really love this both Carver and Isaac work together in dangerous mission.
Carver became one of my video game heroes the moment her said "There is more than one kind of right" and tossed the codex. He had lost everything that he valued, and was not going to watch Clark do the same. I'd hope I would do the same damn thing in a like situation. Thanks for this one and all your Dead Space Lore videos.
Or perhaps a video game adaptation of what happened on Aegis VII centuries before the CEC got there. Two bonus logs that haunt me: the one that describes the birth of a Leaper and one saying "the recombinated horrors now freely stalk the hallways". And how the Red Marker could be instrumental in neutralizing the outbreak. This would be a great video game adaptation.
Honestly, I do like Carver, he could had been interesting if he was properly implemented, instead of how he just disappeared about 99% of the cutscenes in DS 3, xd. And maybe is me, but I think DS Liberation should had been the prologue/chapter one, with Carver and Nolan as the protagonist, or even Ellie. So Carver gets a proper arc, and Nolan is something more than just a PoS
If you actually play in co op carver is in every cutscene amd has lines for every cutscene along with issac hell you even get side missions and they are quite fun honestly you get a to do the marker hallucinations much like dead space 2
Carver became an instant favorite for me. The man is just trying to make things right. I respect that. "Good men mean well. We just don't always end up doing well."
Nice video on Carver!! I always thought that he was misunderstood and underrated as a character in DS3. I loved his default suit's look as well Also Happy 13th Anniversary, Dead Space! 🖤
Carver was a short and personal favorite character of mine just because he had Isaac's back up until the very end and he always was on-mission. Without him Isaac never would've survived TV.
Honestly, Clarke and Carver's bromance (well, interactions, but ㄟ( ▔, ▔ )ㄏ) throughout the game was one of my favourite parts of it, to a point that it's bumped it up to my favourite entry in the whole franchise. Granted, I'm pretty sure this is due to some phenomenal acting that was present in a certain walkthrough I saw, but that's beside the point.
@Mister Majestic Only because of the bromance, and that one playthrough that enhanced said bromance. Having Clarke have someone to talk to in his constant immediate vicinity, especially someone as different in every respect right down to their stances, and go over anything that just happened or where they're going was... well, it was really endearing, much more so than the last game. And that's fun, much more so than Isaac constantly being mopey, which might actually be more Dead Space like but more horror games are remembered because they also have goofy aspects to them and maybe Dead Space really needed a little of that levity. Besides that, though, Dead Space 3 is still fun to play and the weapon crafting is neat.
To phrase it better; It's because when Issac "lost" Ellie back a few chapters ago when they finished building Rosetta, saw the true meaning of Convergence, and got the Codex, Carver sympathized. And when it was found out that Ellie was actually alive, albeit now captured by Danik and his soldiers, he thought it was Issac's second chance to be with her, to clear things up between each other (if you've known, the two have been in a rocky relationship after DS2-). Not gonna lie, very cool of Carver, showing that he's developed, and that he likely didn't want what happened to himself (losing his loved ones tragically) to happen to Issac too.
I hope we get Dead Space game through the perspective of a soldier in the first moments of a necromorph outbreak! Maybe we could see that after the Dead Space Remake
- hey let's introduce another playable character in DS3 and make the game a co-op flop ruining the nature of the franchise with pointless generic thirdperson shooting from behing cover! - we going to make spin-off game for the guy? like severed? or extraction? - lol no we dropping an interactive comic! big brain move ea... way to keep players interested...
What sucks is those speciffic missions for Carver are nonexistant in single player which essentially tially cuts out content for the sake of the co-op mode...which is essentially dead at this point. Its been years since dead space has come out but here's hoping someone was able to make those missions playable in single player.
@@TheBritishRunner I thought the primary reason was because of the terrible microtransactions implemented into the game itself especially the bot upgrades which were essential for resources.
@@RazuX5 The only microtransactions are a resource pack and there used to be a mk2 node pack but not anymore. The bot upgrades aren't necessary for getting resources are they. Just because there is a way to skip the gathering of resources doesn't mean you have to use them they are 100% optional. People will always find something to hate a company over. I've even heard the argument that the games resources were made to be scarce for people to pay for the resources but that's a weak argument as the game is labelled as a survival horror game.
Biggest mistake was killing off Gabe Weller. He should've been there instead of Carver (besides that coop was even bigger mistake). He's just uninteresting jerk.
I would love to be able to play as John carver for a dlc in the Dead space remake. It’d definitely answer a lot of questions for DS3. Or at the very least be allowed to do the coop missions as playable side missions.
Carver is an interesting character who really needed his own game. We needed a Dead Space 2.5 in between
or have it as an dlc campaign no. 2 for ds2 if ds2 also gets a remake.
Yeah like an Extraction or Ignition type game.
Considering that Dead Space might be brought back from the dead I would say that would be a good idea

My favorite was when he tells Issac "no one cares about your love life marker boy" or the DLC one when he tells him "lets go dead boy"
We may just get saved by aliens again just hit the damn button!
Yeah me too.
Carver's base armor is badass
