When I received my SS Karve I sold off my Brass. To me it looked like the job wasn't done if you know what I mean. After watching this video maybe I should have sent it off to be polished or maybe tried myself. Your Brass Karve looks sooooooo much better now! Cheers John and a HAPPY Christmas! 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
Thankyou Peter, I agree with you about looking unfinished, I'm glad the polishing worked tho, I'll polish more and show the results in my shave when I use it, have a great weekend mate 👍 👍
Are you using a polishing paste such as Brasso or Flitz, or a jeweler's cloth? I am curious to know your technique. I didn't think that Karve Brass razors came with any sort of coating from the factory. There are a variety of methods for forcing a patina, if one chooses. I am surprised that people don't send these off to be plated in bright nickel or gold. Plating would make these shine.
Hi ivor I used brasso 👍👍, I m not sure about the coating but I have kinda heard similar. About brass in general over the years so something just rung true about it 👍 👍, have a great weekend mate 👍
Howdy John, Angie, Sammie and Posse! Nice job on the brass polishing. You’re ready for the Queen’s own brass polishing crew. 😉 It should look like your obsidian bowl if it patinas correctly, huh?
A better option is stainless steel. Then when you polish it you won’t have to deal with perpetual patina & the hassle of removing it with a cleaning every few months.
Hi John, GREAT JOB. I have a Brass Aylsworth Kopparkant that had black spots. So I went to UA-cam and found A VIDEO using Ketchup (LOL) by Tobin Fetters - ua-cam.com/video/Qkv8bf9Iz88/v-deo.html. Well I tried it and I stopped laughing; IT WORKED GREAT. I USED A SMALL PLASTIC BAG, LEFT RAZOR PARTS BURIED IN THE KETCHUP FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR. THEN PULLED PARTS OUT, WASHED THEM IN WARM WATER AND USED SOFT CLOTH TO DRY PARTS. RESULTS WERE FANTASTIC! Thank you for sharing your expertise, may you be well. I Always look forward to your next one.
Wow! What a difference after the polishing. Nice job John !
Thankyou kim 👌👌🤓👍
What a stunning difference! 👍🏻
Thankyou randal, happy weekend 😁😁👍

That is a night and day difference, John mucker!
The difference is haw dropping Lee, but my cam didn't do it justice 👍👍
Wow! Brass changed into gold!
I also have same Karve Brass razor. Will Flitz Polish do this excellent job?
I have no idea hoon, I used brasso, some people whine about it but it did an excellant job 👍👍
I've used Flitz it works really well.
What did you use to achieve that degree of polish? I like what you did while others like patina and will accelerate the process with chemicals.
Hi finn I just used brasso and a micro fiber cloth, but maaaaan you should have seen the crud that came out, that cloth WAS BLACK!!! 😁
