I wouldn’t discount the possibility of the “Everyone Knows That” song having been recorded off the radio. Plenty of televisions in the 80s and 90s had built-in FM tuners. Just my two cents.
True. Even my current TV speaker setup has built-in radio, so it's entirely possible that it was simply playing on a radio station that just so happened to be playing through the TV.
My theory is that the song was made by a non studio. Basically someone made this song in their own home and its got spread via cd copys. And the song prob got popular locally thus was aired for a little bit on tv. But since it wasnt some big studio song, the song didn't get promotion to the point of getting recognized internationally or getting archived in some page. The song only lives with the artist and who ever remembers or has cds of the song. The op prob assumed a big studio was attached to the song or just assumed it was a little common so people would recognize if he played a short bit of it to someone.
I got hit by jump scare sites of that face twice in 2012-13, when I was a junior in high school. Only in the last few months have I been able to not have a mini-panic attack every time I come across it, and today (June 26, 2024) I've finally gotten to binge all the info about it being lost media. I know it was dumb, and I'm glad I'm apparently over it now. I'm glad my interest in lost media could help me in this way.
@@Skyguccipeppa The photoshopped image is funny. But that original image is so cursed that the power in my house would probably go out if I stare at the picture too long...
Something you forgot to mention about the Everyone Knows That song is that Carl92 stated that he is from Spain, and thus recorded the song off of a Spanish TV broadcast. I went to the Spanish iTunes store and searched up songs based on the lyrics (World of Lies, Ulterior Motives, Everyone Knows etc.) and came up empty. Edit: I came across a reddit post that debunks the whole Spanish TV hypothesis. Apparently the recording does not contain sound frequencies that would be emitted by Spanish TV broadcasts at the time. It is frustrating how Carl92 has been so vague with information. He should have clarified what country he was in when he did the recording.
Im spanish and honestly I don’t think it comes from here, mostly our commercial songs were in our language, not english, and same with radio songs. I fear is mostly unlikely
That would be a good idea- we could put the have you seen me posters for searches like that up- even people with no interest in the topic may see it and realize they have a lead. Great thinking!
Another piece of lost media I think has high demand, although more niche than “Everyone Knows That” is the MASA song “INTERFACE”, sung by Hatsune Miku and Kagamine Rin. MASA is infamous for deleting his old songs out of embarrassment, meaning there’s a lot of songs by him that are lost, and their only proof of existence were the nico nico daily vocaloid ranking bots that were discontinued in 2012
I’ve been contributing to finding the “Everyone knows that” song!! Thank you for talking about it! Edit: WELL- HERE WE ARE 6 MONTHS LATER FINDING OUT THE SONG WAS IN A NASTY MOVIE! Earthbound 64 has been my most wanted piece of lost media since I learned about it, and I feel like we found a lot about it last year. It's just that I haven't heard of any new finds involving it this year, so I can understand why it's not as high on the list now. Hopefully we'll find more of it soon, I would love to finally see it emerge.
@@drivforc7867 I might be entirely wrong about the timeframes, but I remember we found a disc that had some new footage of the game on it. It's also my top most wanted find. I adore Mother 3. It's one of my favourite games. And to see what it could have been before is massive for me. Even someone finding the demo would be amazing
I genuinely cannot wait for Everyone Knows That to be found, i absolutely ADORE the style of music it is & just 1980s music in general so hearing the full version would be absolutely amazing for me :D I don’t think this is a good theory, or even a theory at all, but it reminds me a lot of the 1980s Japanese “city pop” or “new music” genre & i recall hearing people say the singer’s pronunciation of some words sounded like the way Japanese people pronounce English words, so there may be a possibility the song is from that scene? PS: the one about SpongeBob’s episode Sailor Mouth made me wonder if there’s an uncensored version of the very similar Seinfeld episode called The Non-Fat Yogurt out there somewhere.
@@bean99 agreed, i'm not really hearing city pop from that little audio clip we have now anyway, and considering the quality of the audio itself it seems really unlikely that someone would be able to parse a specific accent from it in the first place. sounds a lot like most english-speaking 80s artists from that time period
@@ezpecially I'm 99% certain it's British Europop. A lot of male Pop artists in the 80's from the UK had a similar, whiney, androgynous sound. (Like Duran Duran, Dead or Alive, ABC, Culture Club, Kajagoogoo, Spandau Ballet, Tears For Fears, etc...) It was basically like a 80's version of Emo, but with more synthesizers. In fact, Emo was sort of a revival of 80's culture, but with 60's mop-top hairstyles.

Thanks for covering Everyone Knows That/Ulterior Motives, dude! This short snippet has lived in my head rent free since I discovered the rabbit hole. It's really groovy despite the mystery behind it. Edit: Holy fucking shit
I had never heard Ulterior Motives. Very cool story and very weird that no one has found it, especially for the time. You would think it would have popped up on LimeWire or Napster (attributed to fake artists or something). Also, I’ve mentioned this, and it may be futile, but I’ve been looking for a Downtown Disney commercial (for California) that has the song “Downtown.” Not sure if cover or original. Any way, awesome video, per usual!🤟🏽
everyone knows that is actually being searched for a community called lostwave who focus on "reverse" lost media (where you have the media or part of it, but no info on the media). it's actually a common thing for there to also be songs incorrectly misattributed to popular artists on such sites like limewire and a search for the true artist. in this case though there's nothing
Just look up "Downtown song writer" and then look up "[Writer's name] publishing company" and presumably if you call that company it's possible that someone there remembers licensing the song to Disney, which would prove the Disney commercial exists.
@@FigmentForever that would be awesome!!! So it would have to be from end of 2000 EARLY 2001 because the focus of the commercial was the opening of Downtown Disney itself and the rebranding to Disneyland Resort and not the opening of Disney’s California Adventure (which was February 2001). I hope that timeframe helps.
just a correction, EKT isn't confirmed to be from TV. the "pilot tone" is also the same sound made from every single NTSC CRT monitor to exist, so it's possible that it didn't come from that
so it could be recorded from some online radio station? That's my guess. Live365 launched in July 1999 so whichever station it was snipped from could be long gone and it would be hard to trace, not to mention being from anywhere in the world, thus making the song even harder to track down
Im really confident that we will find the me and my friends pilot. Ive been wanting this found for a while now and is wishing for it to show up soon. I dont think it'll be found this year, but if it does, this might take the year of lost media for me
I'm guessing "Me and my friends" will probably be found at the end of the year since some of the most wanted lost media got found recently, For example: Blue Prints, Episode 847 sesame street, and I guess I'll include the Super why pilot aswell, These pieces got found around 2021 - 2023 so it's most likely that it could be found before the year is over.
Nice pfp lol And yeah! It seems that is may be found before the end of the year or near the ending of the year. Even though it’s frustrating, we’re really close. And like some people said, it could appear any day now.
theres one piece of lost media ive been wanting for so long but NOBODY talks about it! i want to find more on monkey quest, it was a nick mmo where you played as a monkey and could go on missions, i vividly remember collecting all of the tmnt costumes and having a ton of fun on there! i need to find it somehow or at least more gamplay of it!
i knew a guy, who knew a guy, who knew a guy that worked on a "rewritten" version of this game! they got pretty far along to restoring it but ended up getting DMCA-nuked by nickelodeon, but the files to this game and a working build to it are definitely still "out there" to some extent! it would just be a matter of finding them all again and piecing them back together and not getting sued LMAO you just need to know where to look!
It feels hella weird seeing someone call this lost media cause I loved this game back in the day 😭 The Monkey Quest Rewritten project was literally how I got my discord account (I wanted beta keys)
A personal piece of lost media of mine is this little game my cousin and I used to play when we were younger (maybe early 2010s if I’m not mistaken, but I could be wrong). It’s like this game where you play as this little cute guy who has complete puzzles and stages in order to save his girlfriend who’s been turned into a bear from an evil witch. The girl’s bear form was brown and had her blonde hair (which was a bobcut) and a little pink bow, but for the most part: the girl(‘s human form) and boy looked like Pilsbury Doughmen, but with black eyes instead of blue. It was a super adorable game, but I can’t for the life of me remember its name. If anyone knows what I’m talking about, PLEASE let me know!
I think it’s most likely that the Me and My Friends pilot might be held onto by Nick or Viacom for copyright. As with Slamfest ‘99, I think the best case scenario would be if someone was at the event, recorded it on a camcorder and held onto the tape throughout all these years.

You might want to check out some music videos for that Jeff the Killer image. I vaguely remember a music video that had a section where each member of the band or the singer awkwardly sang down into the camera or forward into the camera that position looks similar to the image. So it is a possibility that the scene was grabbed and edited into it.
Its amazing how people lost and forget things... i found a music on one of my mother recording tapes, but i couldnt found it anywhere... i think i lost the tape as well, so i will never know what song is 😅... i just remember it was kinda of a pop rock in 80s style, just like this "everyone knows that". i was teenager when i listened to it and I didn't paid much attention to this tape.
@@Nakia11798 yeah, i will check it out when i have time for it, because my mom left more than 20 audiotapes and this music was in a random one in the middle of other recorded stuff, so i guess it wont be that easy to find... i remember now a little about the lyrics, the singer says something like "love kills", but I can't be so sure of what was said because the quality was very bad, like this "everyone knows" song Edit: doing a little search i could found that this music is from freddy mercury... is that exactly song, but in the recorded tape was a female singing, then i guess it was a cover or something. Idk why i couldnt find it in the time i researched for and i guess i will never know who did the cover, but still a interesting thing to share with. I bet i can maybe find something really lost listening to all the tapes.
totally understand that feeling, we had a cassette in the mid-late '90s that I listened to of instrumental music, sadly I lost it in 2001. left it at somebody's house and I've been trying to find another copy on discogs but nothing pops up. some of the melodies are stuck in my head. And I do remember the album cover but because I couldn't read back then I don't remember what it said
New to this channel, wanted to bring up my most wanted piece! That'd be the script of Celebrity Harvest, a cancelled film for the band Gorillaz. The script itself, written by Jamie Hewlett and Cass Browne, revolved around a disease spread around celebrities caused by developing too large of an ego, signified by boils appearing on their head. It is implied by transcripts from the book Rise of the Ogre that band's fictional bassist, Murdoc Niccals, would've developed the disease in question. There are other loose plot threads mentioned, such as Murdoc leaving Gorillaz to form a heavy metal band with eventual cannibals, the world being stuck in an eternal night, and Del, another character, quote "turning bad", but not much else in the way of details. The script came to a total of 360 pages, roughly 6+ hours' worth of content. The team pitched the film to a number of studios, and they were certain enough of the film's creation that the name was revealed in the CD booklet for the Blur album Think Tank, Damon Albarn being both a member of Blur and one of two Gorillaz creators. And eventually, the script was picked up by none other than Dreamworks--but that didn't come without its caveats. See, Dreamworks had wished to make the content family-friendly. As Gorillaz itself is not very family-friendly, and as such neither was the movie intended to be, this caused the Gorillaz team to walk out on the deal entirely, scrapping the film but ultimately reusing many concepts for the band's second phase. As such, the script has never been released in full, and likely will never be, at least for some time. This isn't even the only Gorillaz media left unreleased--there's a plethora of mainly songs that were cut and simply never put out there, resulting in their full versions being completely lost unless they were to be released (plus, about 200 cut songs for just one album!). The tone and aesthetics of the movie seemed impeccable, and as an enthusiast of the band, it'd be incredible to get a read-through of the whole script, however gratuitously long it may be. But alas, as it will most probably never get an official release, all a guy can do is dream.
I'm praying that the original jtk image will be found one day, Were getting a bit closer to solving it from the strong leads we have, All we gotta do is find the exact image used for it and this mystery will finally be put to rest
I have never been deep into lost media and especially interested in searches but Everyone Knows That has been on my mind ever since I came across it. It’s such a catchy song and it’s interesting to see how much effort has been put into finding its origins with nothing coming from it
I love lost media and loved seeing people get excited and hunt for it. I never had a connection to any of them because most are either too obscure or just something I wasn’t into. But Everyone Knows That has a hold on me. It lives rent free in my head. I’ve done a lot of acting and modeling work around the world 94-2007. There’s been a lot of trauma in my life that I don’t have many memories of that time. Hearing everyone knows that snapped me back but I’m not sure if it’s real or just feels familiar. It feels like if I find out that songs origins I can find some of my own. I’d even pay for it to be found. Lol
I need to find a song from a claymation TV show from around the 90's-2000 era. It had a scientist character singing a song about gravity where he sings "what goes up must come down" I've never been able to find even a fragment of the show it's from and that's the only detail I remember
A piece of lost media that I have no hopes of being found are who were the people in Valve's logo. Valve has no record of them and both were people pulled randomly off the street of Seattle, so unless those people or their families come forward it'll just remain a mystery.
I didn't know about this until you mentioned it, and now I'm super hoping they'll find it! I absolutely loved this film growing up, and upon looking into it, I recalled a lot of the scenes being also in the novel version I got from the Disney store when the film came out! It'd be amazing to see a cut of these moments for sure!
You’ve got to cover Cookies Bustle! It’s actively being erased from the internet by this guy named “Ukie” due to copyright claims and it’s really sad! It’s a old 90’s cd game with a lot of charm and love put into it, even having the voices of Doraemon and many other notable Japanese VAs. I can’t find any of the cutscenes or gameplay on UA-cam or ANYWHERE.. vinesauce played the game but that was taken down and he even made a video about that… PLEASE BRING THIS GAME TO LIGHT! We can’t have it lost to the void and your dedication to the topic is admirable!!
What if the Everyone Knows That song is actually just a troll from the original guy claiming to have found it and it’s just something random he recorded himself?
Hi I was the one in the livestream who went to homecoming. Turns out there wasn’t a drug bust, Some dumbass freshman ran to the woods behind the school and started a small fire. Thankfully no one was hurt and they didn’t have to call the firefighters but a police car was there when I left. A gazebo in the woods was damaged so now it’s partially lost media ig? Fun memories watching this channel 😀
I think the best idea for the Phantom Blood movie is to maybe see if we can scrounge up who worked for APPP? Hopefully some kind of editor would still have a copy, since I would think someone in that situation would go "Hey, I get a free movie." if they helped make that movie.
So I feel the reason people think they’ve heard ulterior motives song is because it sounds pretty close to smooth operator by Sade. The beat matches the chorus pretty well. That’s just an idea.
I think my most wanted piece of lost media is the song "La Cancion De Alicia" otherwise known as "Under The Stars". I first heard about it last year in a video Goose Boose made on the topic and have wanted to find it ever since. The only clip of it currently availible is in poor quality and from unknown origin, but I fell in love what you can hear of the song. I really hope more people cover the topic so the song has a better chance of being found someday.
For me, the song has this eerie feeling that only gets stronger knowing it's lost. It feels really whimsical, especially with the Alice visuals, who feel like a really old 2000s song that a teenager made and sent to a radio station in order to be popular, but no one paid attention to it and eventually got lost, probably the creator is still out there doing something completely different to this day, idk it just feels to out of this world for me, truly an experience.
I know I’m late but just making sure you guys know the song was found? Granted not the absolute original full clip but the guy who sang the original re-recorded it in HD and it’s even on Spotify now lol
One thing that has popped up for me is the documenting of Plug and Play console music for arcade games because it uses different chips then the arcade machines and achieves different quality rips and sound fonts.

There’s a small community of people that’s attempting to find the comprehensive list of Muzak that played at the World Trade Center prior to and on September 11th, 2001. There’s a long list of lost media related to that of course. They’ve actually found one of the musicians that made a Muzak song which played in the World Trade Center plaza on 9/11 while the towers burned above. Really eerie stuff. But they’ve been able to find some interesting songs from miscellaneous home movies shot in the World Trade Center, and inside the Mall below the WTC.
As for the lost music section of lost media, I would expect less music to be lost, but there are lots of lost music. I discovered this because I wanted to look more in the "Everbody knows that" song
I need to get back to it but recently I watched an old tape to look for lost media. I used to record the most random stuff even until 2009. I haven’t found a certified lost thing yet (some ads that might be??) but I found a commercial for Sunday Shorts, which is a lost thing that I swore I never knew existed lol
My holy grail lost media would be Me and My Friends and CR6. The first because it’s the most perfect example of blursed ever. The second is just an acid trip of a story which I still can’t figure out if it’s an arg, a creepy pasta, or what.
CR6 is my most wanted as well! The whole time he was saying how they'd tried contacting people for the Me and My Friends pilot but they would stop short of talking about giving them a tape made me think of the way the cast members in CR6 would refuse to talk about the show and Chris haha.
I've also wanted to get into lost media, but I am busy with school and other things... I have one thing I wanted to tell someone, but idk the name of it. I can just give a description. A blue Plato man and a red Plato horse idk the show, but I remember it when I was a kid... :/

True. Even my current TV speaker setup has built-in radio, so it's entirely possible that it was simply playing on a radio station that just so happened to be playing through the TV.
it also sounds really 2020-ish, 'cause 2020 songs have a bit of 80s added back, It may be a prototype of a newer song

The frequency is from an American broadcast. It can't be from a Spanish TV
I think people were saying it was on MTV

I genuinely cannot wait for Everyone Knows That to be found, i absolutely ADORE the style of music it is & just 1980s music in general so hearing the full version would be absolutely amazing for me :D
I don’t think this is a good theory, or even a theory at all, but it reminds me a lot of the 1980s Japanese “city pop” or “new music” genre & i recall hearing people say the singer’s pronunciation of some words sounded like the way Japanese people pronounce English words, so there may be a possibility the song is from that scene?
PS: the one about SpongeBob’s episode Sailor Mouth made me wonder if there’s an uncensored version of the very similar Seinfeld episode called The Non-Fat Yogurt out there somewhere.
@@bean99 agreed, i'm not really hearing city pop from that little audio clip we have now anyway, and considering the quality of the audio itself it seems really unlikely that someone would be able to parse a specific accent from it in the first place. sounds a lot like most english-speaking 80s artists from that time period
not every song that sounded like that was japanese city pop. almost all pop sounded like that in the 80s

@bean99 true but I feel like the singer 100% has some sort of accent (Spain possibly)
@@ezpecially I'm 99% certain it's British Europop. A lot of male Pop artists in the 80's from the UK had a similar, whiney, androgynous sound. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

GOOD NEWS IT WAS FOUND! It was found in adult video
My personal most wanted is Eurovision Song Contest 1964. It's so close to being found, yet so far.
Former Imagineer here! Can you tell me what year it’s from? I’ll look in my tons of hard drives
@@nothingcankilldagrimace I will look into it asap!
just a correction, EKT isn't confirmed to be from TV. the "pilot tone" is also the same sound made from every single NTSC CRT monitor to exist, so it's possible that it didn't come from that
so it could be recorded from some online radio station? That's my guess. Live365 launched in July 1999 so whichever station it was snipped from could be long gone and it would be hard to trace, not to mention being from anywhere in the world, thus making the song even harder to track down
EkT has been found it was from a corn video!

Mine is Encarnacion Bechaves

For me, the song has this eerie feeling that only gets stronger knowing it's lost. It feels really whimsical, especially with the Alice visuals, who feel like a really old 2000s song that a teenager made and sent to a radio station in order to be popular, but no one paid attention to it and eventually got lost, probably the creator is still out there doing something completely different to this day, idk it just feels to out of this world for me, truly an experience.

@@kasaneoverdrive9217 title?
One thing that has popped up for me is the documenting of Plug and Play console music for arcade games because it uses different chips then the arcade machines and achieves different quality rips and sound fonts.
i love music and i love music related lost media so much. idk i just like the thought that music field is endless for us to discover, and that it's not just top 40 tracks with millions of streams
I recently archived the entirety of a partially lost cartoon called Dad'X on Internet Archive. It was extremely inaccessible (With the english dub only being available in the UK and being oddly expensive) and obscure. It's become my favourite piece of lost media ever because it's so bad it's good.
I’ve actually heard of “Dad’X” before.
It’s an obscure French animated TV show about a cartoon Santa Claus and his friends as they save children from a Dracula-like character called Striker.
@@mutatedkraken. Nice, where did you hear about it?
@@Stibly When I was searching up other obscure cartoons.
One has been finally found and what we know for certain is that Carl was *NOT* munching on chips, IYKYK 😏😂

EVERYONE KNOWS THAT WAS FOUND ITS FROM A NSFW MOVIE!!
dude, literally today i was watching videos about jeff the killer and listening to everybody knows that, and then you upload and I see the thumbnail literal perfect timing. love the video!
I think this year has been great for lost media almost every Kanye West grail has been leaked Nick Gillard is releasing his training footage for episode 3 and many other things have been unearthed
Keep up the good work for the lost media wiki also happy Halloween!🎉
JK it’s early
The psyco Teddy song, used in those animation memes years ago is also lost media apparently. I'm rlly interested in it
There’s a small community of people that’s attempting to find the comprehensive list of Muzak that played at the World Trade Center prior to and on September 11th, 2001.
I discovered this because I wanted to look more in the "Everbody knows that" song
its sad to see that no one actually talk about the "airship" boss of cuphead that only have 4 uncomplete recordings of it and the game demos
I forgot to comment but, Thank you for using my flyer about EKT, I'm hoping that this song would be found by the end of this year!
Well, sure hope you're happy now.
@@googleruinedyoutube Yep, but damn I didn't know it came from an adult movie 💀
I need to get back to it but recently I watched an old tape to look for lost media. I used to record the most random stuff even until 2009. I haven’t found a certified lost thing yet (some ads that might be??) but I found a commercial for Sunday Shorts, which is a lost thing that I swore I never knew existed lol
My holy grail lost media would be Me and My Friends and CR6. The first because it’s the most perfect example of blursed ever. The second is just an acid trip of a story which I still can’t figure out if it’s an arg, a creepy pasta, or what.
CR6 is my most wanted as well! The whole time he was saying how they'd tried contacting people for the Me and My Friends pilot but they would stop short of talking about giving them a tape made me think of the way the cast members in CR6 would refuse to talk about the show and Chris haha.
is it just me or when people mention lost media it sounds rly scary? idk its just the idea that something is lost to time never to be found again.
THE VIDEO THUBNAIL SCARED ME SO MUCH LOL GREAT VID!
One of the reasons why I like the search for Phantom Blood, is that unlike media like Saki Sanobashi, it has decent chance of being found
if we don't find that "Everyone Knows That" song im gonna lose my mind soon... i NEED the full song. more than i need air tbh. it's SO GOOD.
Every one knows that is stuck in my head, repeating over and over.
Mr. Krabs totally says that Spongebob is "Making a total jackass of himself" in the movie
I've also wanted to get into lost media, but I am busy with school and other things... I have one thing I wanted to tell someone, but idk the name of it. I can just give a description. A blue Plato man and a red Plato horse idk the show, but I remember it when I was a kid... :/
I don't believe it is lost, just a show I want to see again, and I don't believe there were voices in the tv show
EKT was found today!
We're getting closer to finding the original image. And who knew after all this time and all of these findings and advancements.
