Cool tip I just learned if you don't like the paint smell in your house during and after painting you can add a tbsp or tsp of vanilla extract into the paint and mix it up. It won't affect how the paint looks or dries. It will just give you a vanilla smell instead of the paint smell. I heard it on a diy radio show. Can't remember if they said tbsp or tsp though so maybe try the smaller first. Thought it was a cool tip.
Looks fantastic. The first time I painted kitchen cabinets, both inside and out, were in an 1890s house in 1974. White in and out. No imagination? The pulls were peach colored!
I am in the process of wanting to do my kitchen over and this was exactly the video I needed to see. You make it look easy and doable. Thank you for the inspiration. And yours looks phenomenal!❤ huge difference in the before and after with you and I’m hoping I get the same or similar results
I love it! Love your color choice, hardware choice and it goes great with the countertops! Question: What are your cabinets made of? If they are mdf...what is the face made from? (Laminate, veneer, paper veneer etc...)
Looks great. I would like to know if you notice any chipping or s rat hing on the paint after a few months or a couple of years. I think what made the biggest difference was the new countertop. It's gorgeous. What material is it and who installed it?
Gorgeous 😊 I love the colour. My cupboards have thermofoil covering them but you've inspired me to just go ahead and strip that and paint them up. Thanks 😊
@@LaLadybug2011it is not istagram its correct color combo. Black should be with lighter colors and med to dark colors should have gold tone that why she said in Brass/gold pop and look nice. You always chose either light cabinet and light/dark counter. Dark cabinet best stick with light counters be too dark even with lighting or sunlight.
Haha my cabinets painted white when got the house but had ugly blue laminate made dark. I did soft grey subway tile made the room lighter. Really just depends on the room size and sunlight and ceiling lighting. Yeah the whole house is beige 🤣
@@Kt-cn2rq I painted my kitchen cabinets green, the walls mustard, and did a broken pottery backsplash of cactus and a sunset. And just recently painted my pantry door a blend of blues, greens, coral, yellow, white and purple
just curious, you didn't sand before painting? I was under the impression sanding was a necessary step to give the paint something to adhere to and prevent chipping and stuff
Yes, you are right is better to clean the grease first, then sanding, then 1 light coat of primer and 2 coats of finishing paint. My cabinets are melamine which is super smooth and had to sand inside and outside really good with 60 grid sandpaper.
i’ve don’t this to a few kitchens even after telling customers it’s a terrible idea and can guarantee you it will take forever and look like shit. let alone will not last a year without scratching off all the corners.
Yeah but anything that can scratch the paint off will. Sooner or later there will be spots that you can see the pine again. If that were a movie set it would be good enough.
Not much better. Coulda kept it the old way. It went from warm, to feeling cold. Warm tones in the kitchen are good; that’s where folks congregate to eat and feel warmth.
Wow that paint also changed your countertops, truly transformative
It was like magic.
He'd didn't painted cabinets it's just a different kitchen
@@CasualBuilds May I ask what did you do to the countertop???
@marquitajackson-rk7nk I primed it with white paint, added some gray lines to mimic marble, then poured epoxy over it.
@@CasualBuilds thank you 💜

Oh very cool tip!
I've been doing this for over 30 years... Just a couple drops is all you need.
It just put a small bowl of vinegar out on the counter or in the room that you're painting in and the vinegar absorbs the bad smell.
I love vanilla gonna do it !
I painted my kitchen cabinets green, the walls mustard, and did a broken pottery backsplash of cactus and a sunset
Along with new countertops and appliances…looks good
Beautiful color on cabinets 😍
Love how the wood grain is still visible, just a nice subtle detail
Yeah for sure, the look I was going for!
Those cabinets look amazing
Beautiful color and finish. Love! ❤
Looks amazing! The colour is gorgeous. I’m surprised they call that colour sage though 😂
It's blue sage...

Nice!!
I did this three years ago, with no problems with chipping. Cleaning is easy.
The new white countertops also helps modernize your kitchen. Love the color combo. Cabinets look beautiful. ❤
Beautiful color.
Love love the color . Amazing what paint, hardware and elbow grease will do. Beautiful work. WOW.
I love the color!
The paint color is a beautiful contrast to the natural wood floors.

Looks like 90s wood. 😂
Wow‼️🤩 That’s gorgeous‼️🤩 Absolutely beautiful shade of blue!!!
Very nice transformation. I love the sage colour. It totally works!👍
This is right on time! We're trying to figure out what to do with our cabinets with these exact doors.

So far so good with the paint. I did the counter top with a marble epoxy kit.
I’m about to paint my cabinets in their color London. I also love the color you picked too.
Love it ty for sharing love love that color

Did my kitchen cabinets, china cabinet. chairs and table using rethink junk paint, no sanding nor primer. Wow what a difference it made...
The no sanding and no primer paint is getting good!
Wow, drywalled the pantry in too huh
LOVE the color!! Great job!
Thank you!
Wow. So beautiful!!!
Would look more high end with square brass handles.
If the Instagram gold look was his preference-but it isn't. Black is timeless also, and his preference.

Beautiful. Does that TSP stuff cut grease?
Love the color. Elegant.
Love the color. So tired of black, white, grey and beige.

How did you changed the countertop marble colour?
Ef whomever made those gaps above cabinets. Top cabinets for vertical lines!
Gorgeous ❤
Great job!
Nice work looks amazing ❤❤
No primer and no varnish at the end? Is it lasting?
Nice color. Moving away slowly from gray. 👍🏻
He didn't go over how did the countertop change 😂
Yeah, did that too.
Did you mean spruce? I can’t see the color sage in the link you provided.
Oh noooo, you’re right. I coulda sworn it was Sage, but yeah, looking like Spruce
Hermoso color! 🎉
So nice !
I looooooooove the color!!!!!!!!!!

Love the color. Did a great job. I can still see the wood grain though. I think you need a second coat.
Thanks! I wanted the wood grain to pop through.
I love it
Checked out the comment section on this paint. Lots of 1 or 2 stars. Many complaints of bubbles and long drying..4 layers needed 😢😮
I love the old look 😮
🫢
This is really beautiful. Do you have a full video on how you redid the counter tops and floors?
No, I wish. I had a company do the floors and the countertops was a marble epoxy kit.
@CasualBuilds gotcha 👍🏾 I hope you continue to enjoy it. I'm truly inspired ☺️

I did not, thanks!
It's blue sage..
What about the countertops? U do that yourself too?
How old is the house?
She had a white

Which brand paint is this
Heirloom traditions.

I’ve got 3 young kids being crazy in there. It’s holding up.
@@CasualBuilds One day.. But so what. Some might look at the marks that accumulate as history. Something to look at in the years to come and remember.
What color is this? So pretty ❤
Sage
Spruce!
You don’t need to prime the cabinets before painting when using this brand of paint?
Nope! Just clean and paint - literally says that on the can.
Is that spruce?
Yes, misspoke in the video.
So you painted the cupboards and got new countertops and flooring. Okay
All of it, yep.
Why do you brush first and then roll? Why don't you just roll the paint and forget the brush?
Brush is better at getting the paint into everything. Roller for smoothing it out.
Fyi heirloom chips it doesn’t last.
This color looks darker than Sage….
Misspoke, it’s Spruce
Maybe wear some gloves when you use the stripping/cleaning chemicals?
Q color es?
Sage
Spruce
What is that weird drawer under the sink lol
For sponges!
I have those little drawers in my kitchen too! Prior to buying this house, had never seen this done. Pretty cool!

Hmmmm, the natrual wood looked better.
Looked good with the old countertops and flooring. Looked weird with the white counter tops and grey floors.
I love the color!
