I think "Hyperdeath" refers to the fact that he traps you in an infinite loop, so every time you get killed and come back, he can kill you over and over. At least I think that's what his intentions are, but the fact that your heart "refuses" kind of ruins his actual plan, which is to do what he does as Omega Flowey and save over your file, so every time you load up the game, you're trapped in battle with him.
+lusteraliaszero While that may not be totally untrue, I personally believe the term 'Hyperdeath' is in reference to the level of Asriel's full power. Flowey as he was, even in his 'Omega' form could only (I say 'only' like it's not a big deal lol) create and manipulate Save states and had control over that, but not the complete destruction of the world itself. He owned your Save file and everything in it, but he couldn't outright blow it up. Once Flowey had absorbed all the souls to regain his form as Asriel, he is now implied to have had the power to totally tear down reality and bring it all the way back to nothing, making failure to defeat him the theoretical trigger for a perma-death Save file in which nothing can be done to correct it, making it something more devoid of life than mere death, hence 'Hyperdeath'. Just a thought. I could be overthinking things, but that's how I see it.
lordofthesmash Well, I guess that's a theory, I definitely think it's just a reflection of him being a child, notice that all his other names are also extremely childish in nature, he has a very exaggerated design, is a huge reference to FF final bosses with all the technicolor, and children and teens at that age really fancy themselves things like sephiroth. I personally also like this theory better since it reflects on asriel's depth of character. It's also implied that IF asriel won he'd just have done a normal reset, after all, he just wants to keep playing, not destroy everything. as an aside, I heard a funny theory. in one of the tablets it says that it would take all the monsters in the underground to rival a single human soul, so maybe the reason your hp goes to 0.0000001 is because napsterblook was really not feeling up to it.

This is my favourite fight in the whole game. The music, the actual fight, the premise and circumstance of the fight, what's at stake...Everything is so well-paced. I love it. I love Asriel. What a character! This game is amazing, no matter what.
+Thr³³ I was a little disappointed when I later found out that there was no way to lose it, cheapened the DETERMINATION I felt when going through it for the first time just a little retroactively... but it's definitely one of the most emotionally-charged fights I can remember from any game, even moreso than the last boss of Mother 3. Of all the characters in the game, Flowey was the absolute last one I expected to make me tear up a little.

Second phase dying doesn't "mean" anything, you just feel a bit blegh for not being flawless. Interpret how you will.

They're all too kind, too innocent, too misunderstood. Like a bunch of lost children in a Tim Burton universe. I think that's the appeal this game has for me; it targets my fatherly instinct: Love, Compassion, Protection. It takes a really remarkable game to do that... Bravo Toby.

that moment you realize that the music box music from waterfall is playing, that moment you realize that the stone the music box was housed in looks like a goat head. That moment you realize that its his gravestone...... least thats how it came off to me. brought me to the verge of tears when I thought about that lonely music box in that stone statue that way.
+franchised1 I believe the story behind the statue is a bit more... cruel. It was originally built as a remembrance to Asriel and was the original statue that was in the MTT Resort Inn. Listen to 15:16. Sounds familiar? If you go to the Mettaton fountain statue in the inn, you see that it was put in "last week." And the Asriel statue is near the garbage area, if I remember correctly. Lets just say after no matter what happened, Mettaton is forever on my shit list even if you you do a complete full pacifist run. He's probably the only "boss" i'd have satisfaction killing in the genocide run, especially when you find out what happens when you spare him (and kill toriel [you fucking monster] and Undyne) in a neutral run.
+snuffypop Mettaton becomes ruler, and basically makes the underground worse by not taking care of it and brainwashing everyone with his TV show. Anyone who doesn't obey him suffers. Basically it's a dystopian future.

He is one of the best antagonist that has been ever been written imo.

A week after finishing the True Pacifist, I finally decided to start my genocide run. I´m now stuck in the Sans Fight. It really felt bad to kill Toriel, Papyrus, Undyne, and Mettaton tho...
It’s literally been 3 weeks since I’ve finished the game, yet watching this still makes me cry. This game truly is powerful and is the best game I’ve ever played.
It's sad to see how Asriel basically acts lead by desperation and jealousy in some way. I don't think there was a real enemy in all this story, all of this was born because of a human misunderstanding, as usual happens also in real life. Little mistakes that can lead to wars. I strongly recommend everyone to play this game. PS: To people who saw FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood, if you think about it the Ishvalan war was also born too because of a misunderstanding

Whenever I need to cry, I watch this. Poor Asriel, all he wanted was a soul so he could feel love and compassion again. But he was forced to live a life without one, turning him into a sadistic monster.
Well Pokemon is kinda the same thing over and over again too. Oh look! Monsters called POCKET MONSTERS! Oh wait they're called Pokemon. Ok. So here's the storyplot. Meet a Professor who is so called "good at pokemon facts". He/She asks if you are a male or female and asks you your name. He/She gives you a starter Pokemon and a Pokedex. Then you have a rival. Then you just start your so called "adventure". Defeat Gyms. Defeat the Pokemon League. There's some random organization called Team ______. You stop them from trying to take over the world. Catch more pokemon. Hunt some shinies. And... That's it. Well I think Pokemon's storyplot is mediocre compared to Undertale's. But that's just my opinion. (i'm sorry if i offended anyone)

Well, true, when I saw Mettaton, I felt like I Mett-a-ton of hotness, he's funny and entertains you, and I like him. Still, I like Asriel more because of the the backstory (my favorite backstory of all Undertale characters) and feats, like how he messed up with the timeline, he tried to take full control over it...and if you consider what Asriel really is, he's a kid, but he turned into a GOD to reset everything. The only Undertale character that I have almost a tie between who I like more is Asriel and Sans. I like of Sans because of his puns, but Idk who I really like more between him and Asriel.

I am shocked that nobody noticed the way sans lines up during asriel battle prologue until 2018 Asgore = He's already in the line (Even before Toriel knocks him away) Toriel = Walks upwards to get in the line (To interfere Undyne and Alphys' romantic action) Undyne = Walks upwards to get in the line (To talk to Asgore) Alphys = Walks upwards to get in the line (To get close to Undyne before moving to the right) Papyrus = Walks upwards to get in the line (After hearing a bad joke) Sans = Walks downwards to the bottom edge of the screen, appears from the top edge of the screen and walks down to the gap between Toriel and Alphys. So the point is, Sans used a 'shortcut' to get in the line with other monsters. Notice that he's the only one who walks downwards to get in the line. I'm pretty sure someone will reply "I think he's going around the screen for that". I know, but it must have taken longer to get around the screen, he's definetely teleporting.

I honestly preferred Flowey's fight more. He broke ALL the rules and fucked with the game personally, yet Asriel doesn't really do that at all, in spite of being one and the same. I loved both fights, but Flowey's left a bigger impact that Asriel's couldn't match.

to be honest this might be my most favourite boss fight in any game ever

I was a little disappointed when I later found out that there was no way to lose it, cheapened the DETERMINATION I felt when going through it for the first time just a little retroactively... but it's definitely one of the most emotionally-charged fights I can remember from any game, even moreso than the last boss of Mother 3. Of all the characters in the game, Flowey was the absolute last one I expected to make me tear up a little.
+JadKni i actually loved that the fight had no way to lose, just because it makes you feel like you have become so powerful that even your soul resists death itself, and just adds to the fact that you are filled with determination
+JadKni Well you still "lose" if your HP hits zero but instead of the game backtracking you to your last save point on the map (got that'd be terrible) it instead sets you back 2-3 turns in the first phase of this fight. Second phase dying doesn't "mean" anything, you just feel a bit blegh for not being flawless. Interpret how you will.

I honestly couldn't bring myself to go any other way than the true pacifist rout.. I don't care that the characters are fake, I can't hurt them. They're all too kind, too innocent, too misunderstood. Like a bunch of lost children in a Tim Burton universe. I think that's the appeal this game has for me; it targets my fatherly instinct: Love, Compassion, Protection. It takes a really remarkable game to do that... Bravo Toby.

I believe the story behind the statue is a bit more... cruel.
It was originally built as a remembrance to Asriel and was the original statue that was in the MTT Resort Inn. Listen to 15:16. Sounds familiar?
If you go to the Mettaton fountain statue in the inn, you see that it was put in "last week."
And the Asriel statue is near the garbage area, if I remember correctly.
Lets just say after no matter what happened, Mettaton is forever on my shit list even if you you do a complete full pacifist run. He's probably the only "boss" i'd have satisfaction killing in the genocide run, especially when you find out what happens when you spare him (and kill toriel [you fucking monster] and Undyne) in a neutral run.

It’s literally been 3 weeks since I’ve finished the game, yet watching this still makes me cry. This game truly is powerful and is the best game I’ve ever played.
It's sad to see how Asriel basically acts lead by desperation and jealousy in some way. I don't think there was a real enemy in all this story, all of this was born because of a human misunderstanding, as usual happens also in real life. Little mistakes that can lead to wars. I strongly recommend everyone to play this game.
PS: To people who saw FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood, if you think about it the Ishvalan war was also born too because of a misunderstanding

He/She asks if you are a male or female and asks you your name. He/She gives you a starter Pokemon and a Pokedex. Then you have a rival. Then you just start your so called "adventure". Defeat Gyms. Defeat the Pokemon League. There's some random organization called Team ______. You stop them from trying to take over the world. Catch more pokemon. Hunt some shinies. And... That's it.
Well I think Pokemon's storyplot is mediocre compared to Undertale's. But that's just my opinion.

Well, true, when I saw Mettaton, I felt like I Mett-a-ton of hotness, he's funny and entertains you, and I like him. Still, I like Asriel more because of the the backstory (my favorite backstory of all Undertale characters) and feats, like how he messed up with the timeline, he tried to take full control over it...and if you consider what Asriel really is, he's a kid, but he turned into a GOD to reset everything. The only Undertale character that I have almost a tie between who I like more is Asriel and Sans. I like of Sans because of his puns, but Idk who I really like more between him and Asriel.

I kid you not, the attack at 15:50 freezes my computer every time it happens. Initially I thought it was part of the fight, but after 10 minutes I realised nothing was happening... I'll never be able to fully finish this amazing game! 💔

I am shocked that nobody noticed the way sans lines up during asriel battle prologue until 2018
Asgore = He's already in the line (Even before Toriel knocks him away)
Toriel = Walks upwards to get in the line (To interfere Undyne and Alphys' romantic action)
Undyne = Walks upwards to get in the line (To talk to Asgore)
Alphys = Walks upwards to get in the line (To get close to Undyne before moving to the right)
Papyrus = Walks upwards to get in the line (After hearing a bad joke)
Sans = Walks downwards to the bottom edge of the screen, appears from the top edge of the screen and walks down to the gap between Toriel and Alphys.
So the point is, Sans used a 'shortcut' to get in the line with other monsters. Notice that he's the only one who walks downwards to get in the line.
I'm pretty sure someone will reply "I think he's going around the screen for that". I know, but it must have taken longer to get around the screen, he's definetely teleporting.

I honestly preferred Flowey's fight more. He broke ALL the rules and fucked with the game personally, yet Asriel doesn't really do that at all, in spite of being one and the same. I loved both fights, but Flowey's left a bigger impact that Asriel's couldn't match.

+Moonswirl ᅚ They are both different fights for different ideas. Flowey represents in a way the spoiled rotten child who is determined to win, even by cheating. Asriel represents the lonely child that is afraid to be alone again, so he tries to make you stay.
