Very few people will apreciate it but this tuner/electronics guy is a friggin' beast
Mike at BPM is the man. He was a huge help on the project.
Thank you!!
I’m a bm tech of 20yrs. Very cool these dudes know what they’re doing.
The tuner talking about all of the different computers makes my head spin! It is awe inspiring how dedicated some people in the aftermarket are. I bet that tuner knows more than most BMW ECU engineers about how everything works together.
Thank you! We have done programming in the past for BMW Engineers ;)
That’s why you hire a tuner! They know what their doing.
@@MBenvo Yes I was wondering how you got the configuration settings for the different features.
How did you Get rid of all the U1000 DTC's
@@justinmickelson6579 they're
They're some incredibly smart tuners out there, could have been doctors etc if they wanted too but decided tuning is their passion.
Well done , I appreciate the build .the subframe creation 🎉. The custom braking and diff to
Gearbox upgrade. Also , wiring and harness . Overall 11months was abit long and 2 years planning. However awaiting 2.0
I love how modest and informative these guys are about this build. Not a bunch of cocky assholes trying to show off to "drift nation." Classy vid fellas, thanks. And the build..AWESOME.
Wow,wow,wow...... Beautiful build and yes I agree with Mike it's beautiful underneath the car,and for Mike to be so humble and complementary about this build says a lot. Crazy attention to detail and really beautiful craftsmanship.
Also a great cause.
Thank God not another LS swap!!!
Hahaha
Great vid. Super impressive custom vehicle. My e90 M3 has a BPM tune on it with a full Akra Evo system. Great performer and absolutely trouble free. Top tuner - respect.
Awesome build! Getting all of those modules communicating together in a potentially smoggable car, amazing!
I remember as a young lad Mike replying to my email about my Sentra Spec-V spring rates. I was thrilled he replied
Thanks Mike for putting out quality content on MotoIQ that reminds me of the old Sport Compact Car days.
OE tires were 205/55/15 (!) This is a hell of a build guys. Nice video too.. really gets into it. I'd like to see and hear this car at the track.
Serious quality video, super interesting! Really impressive build. Not sure why you do not have more viewers/subscribers, but you totally deserve more. Thanks for video!
We agree
Can’t wait to see the video series.
the tuner is a genius.
its a dream car setup. nice work. Super great content
Very impressive engineering effort.
Listen I am not sure if you are aware but the GROUPE-A DTM front wheel arch/body panel is wider than what is on our factory street E30 M3s so you could run 18x12x325 square
I'm sure you know this, but others may not. Fenders varied by year in DTM. Early DTM cars were running modified stock fenders. Some later teams used modified EVO 3 fenders. Some home-brewed wider ones themselves, but may not have been legal in DTM (or so the story goes). The so called Group A fenders had openings that extended further forward and back for more sweep, but supposedly the same width. There may have been others, but I don't know for sure.
its this kind of build that makes me want to burn my "build" to the ground. Spectacular. Oh, Hi Mike.
txchris_z06 thanks man
Look Beautiful Not Gonna Lie
Buys the car from mentor... car was neglected and abandoned.. such a great mentor!
Lol, yeah that sounded awkward. This wasn't the mentor's only E30, just a project his son and him didn't get around to restoring. It was also neglected and abandoned before he got it.
& runs & drives! I love it!!!
Sure does :)
put in a dry sump and free up the space to improve the subframe geometry and be able to fit power steering
This is a repost from another comment with the same question. - A few reasons why we didn't use a dry sump. 1. It wouldn't have bought me any more clearance to the steering rack and subframe. The front of the pan already sits right against the windage tray with no way to reduce height. No clearance would have been gained. 2. The S55's oiling system includes a primary and secondary pump with provisioning for turbo oil scavenging, dual pickups, and an electronic volume controller. Trying to replicate or package that inside a dry sump would have been a compromise with little upsides. 3. A dry sump would have added weight, packaging issues, and failure points to an already very tight engine bay. - Checkout the S55 tech document to see why the factory system is so good. I think you'll be impressed by it s3.bimmerfile.com.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/S55-Engine.pdf
informative video. but the big question is. does it run? hate to spend almost an hour on a clip and there is nmo engine sound let alone no driving.... this sucks....
wait what? Damn it, I'm at the start of the video.... I wonder why they didn't start the car up or drive it.

This build is definitely worth the e30 M3 chassis
Why bro standing like that when they was talking about smogging the car lol that’s why he got a cramp 🤣🤣🤣
Sweet! Awesome build. Subscribed 🤙🏽
You could buy e30 m3 evo3/sport evo front fenders.. they are made to fit 18’’ 😊
But anyway, this build is way more extreme than i ever imagined..! 😅👌🏻
Thank you
Awesome video and awesome car 👍🏼
Solid video and build. I'm wondering now if my E46 M3 convertible has all the chassis stiffening components like the E30 convertible did. It weighs 500lbs more than the hardtop so assuming some of that weight might be from that. Cool stuff.
is the build video series available somewhere to watch?
No
How to get involved, I really wanna get into the car modding field
im getting a cramp in my leg
Yaa yeet yaaa yaa yeet yaaa
Why no dry sump?

If he wants an OEM approach to fitting a larger tire he can use the E30 M3 Sport Evo front fenders.
The limiting factor is actually the rear wheel wells, bumper bracket, and upper fender support at this moment, but evo fenders would definitely help.
Some is rolling in cash because I see thousands of labor hours
Dream car
Jesus! What did this thing cost?
Next do a LS swap on a Porsche 993 GT2 please!
can someone swap that into E46 Wagon
Dat caster...
hotshtsr20 looks funky on camera. It is around 9 degrees and close to an e36 m3 suspension geometry.
Cory Rowan ‘‘twas a compliment sir. :)
@@hotshtsr20 On camera it looks crazier than it is :)
I'm just throwing some stuff in the wind, but I'm guessing it is a $250K car
lmfao more like 30-50k on the used market
some of the rare limited edition versions are going for 100k+ i forget what theyre called. evo sport i think...
30k for a clapped out e30 M3 and 50k for a clean driver.
There's an EVO2 for sale at EAG right now for $125k with 106k on the clock
yes. But no ac and no power steering.
ugh so beautifully complicated. If i was given that time and money I would have made a dtm replica e30
Thank you
normaly on the f80 it's mounted just in front of the radiator...........not only on an f80 m3 bro, like basically with all cars lmao, weird place for a ic, could get damaged easely. Sick build tho.
I think you are referring to the oil cooler. the IC is on top of the engine. The oil cooler sits above the underbelly pan and no lower than on an F80.
@@coryrowan4553 ow ok thats the oilcooler, damn thats a monumental oilcooler than. Like i said sick build.
@@swansmeister Many thanks friends
Plug and play they say.
Just lots of plugs and months of playing :)
"Yeah, that's from a factory F80."
The drawbacks of doing V8?, I hope the guy realizes that this is an I6
He said drawbacks OVER, not of, doing a v8
no start wtf
If u need any spare parts from egypt with a very good price, just hit me up
How's the balance of the car? The reason that they put a 4 cylinder in the M3 was for the balance of the car, in instead of a 6 cylinder . Do you think that BMW motorsport division didn't thought about that wen they developing the car?
I have the impression that they thought there were modifying an old American car, a lot of power but a lack on balance and stability on the road like all American muscle cars.
Let this old beautiful car in his glory like it is.
The all-aluminium 6 cylinder S55 is shockingly light compared to the original iron block S14. The large cooling system does add weight, but we did a few things to make up for it. After experiences with many iron block 6 cylinder E30 builds (s50, S52, S54, etc) I assure you balance can be had.
Lol. I can fix anything with money too
"i lifted this motor with my bare hands" 😑
No power steering and no A/c. No thanks.
First
and?
@Ira Brook You're the coolest for being First!
