300 plus horsepower out of a naturally aspirated 4 cylinder is amazing even by todays standards. High revving/high strung N/A engines are truly an art form! Stunning piece of BMW Motorsport history!
@@JEDIXXXXX I do agree, but the reasoning behind this choice stated in the video is perfectly fine in my eyes. I don't mind it, I'd rather see and hear it more often than it sitting in the garage or needing repairs :)
People complaining about the paddle shift don’t seam to realize that the DTM car had a sequential gearbox, similar to the Drenth box he had installed (guessing it’s a DG350). The pneumatic paddle shift controlling the sequential will avoid a bad downshift and being able to keep your hands on the wheel will minimize the risk of losing control of the car in high speed and high G corners.
I had the privilege of driving the 992 GT3 # 6 car with RSRSpa the day this video was shot. For me, this E30 was the coolest car there, well driven too, what a fantastic day that was.
I'm a bit late to this Paul, sorry. Your car is beautiful and sounds amazing. Hopefully we will meet at some time as I instruct for RSR at Spa and Nurburgring. All credes to you, you said it like it is 🙂
Hy, you have a very beautiful car, exceptional, et I am so happy to see cars like this. I remenber 2 of these cars (but not DTM) made for endurance races, from a famous garage of Marseille (I beleive), cars which went on the same meeting like me, but in other category. I remenber the sound of these engines, UNFORGETTABLE. Great remenbers !!! Enjoy your car. Kris
Just love the sound nice to see a full onboard. Great to see some makes the dream come true wish I could do the same. Also for mee same car the dream care and spa is also my favorite
Congrats on this amazing build and most importantly for actually enjoying it at a special track like this. I hope I can race my e30 around spa one day too!
Wow this is my dream also just don’t have the cash right now but working on it. Love what you have done and your upgrades make perfect sense. How do your lap times compare with 1989 ? I would think even being down on HP the paddle shift and newer tyre tech would see you close or better. BTW mean no reflection on your driving the hot lap looked great. But for me I would love the comparison of those times. Thanks for this I loved it 👍
What a car! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

It achieves 310HP at 8500rpm, the engines at that time ran at 10500rpm in the race and had an output of 370HP
E 30 M3 is a dream of a car
congrats what a great project ….!!!!!!
paddle shifters in a 90s DTM is sacrilegious!!
100% agree with you... And where is the RPM STACK??? Beautiful car, what a pity.

So happy for you man. Follow your passion. What a car ......... Dear Santa
cool story!!! and super M3 :)
He raced yesterday in the Oldtimer gran prix at Nurburgring. Great to see this feature today. Thanks for the lap around Spa.
Lovely race car build! Only think is I would have definitely kept the H-pattern.
Wow!!! Beautiful M3 Dtm! I remember seeing Christian Shappa driving one in Hanau Germany in 1989!
Gorgeous!!
If my driving instructor was in the car, he’d be slapping his wrist yelling “9 and 3! 9 and 3!”
awesome car, nice story
Sensationell , mit schaltwippen 👌🏽

My car is even envious.

Amazing story and amazing car, but why change to a paddle shifter ? I still prefer the dog box..... Lucky the sound makes it all good !
Seit wann hatte der BMW E30 in der DTM eine Automatikschaltung ? Ich kann mich nur an den Schaltknüppel erinnern.
how can i get the paddle shift box in my e30? i want one.
there's some stuff, just to know you'll never have a single hand on it till your time's done... life is soo cruel (on some specific point x) )
what gearbox?
Not correct. In 1989 rhey ran 2,3 Liter engines. First in 1990 BMW start with 2,5 Liter engines
should have just beat up a regular e30 and kept the M3 nice
