The only sunscreen I can recommend given the certifications are La Roche, Neutrogena, Kaya ( I use all of these)
Ma'am I wanted to ask u something. I received detoxie vit c serum today. It is slightly yellow in color. Has it oxidized. Will this affect the efficacy of the product?

@@trishamondal4516 please check Rubinas latest video on sunscreens she Post yesterday. It should help clear your doubts. I understand Neutrogena was in a study on Indian Sunscreens and it cleared
10 or 20 years ago we were perfectly fine with our spf 15 and daycreams with spf which gave a good glow and nourished skin. Today with all these new suncreens we still get sun damage and darkening of skin 😂

But 10 or 20 years ago there was less pollution and dust.
Also the UV rays were also weaker back then.
Because now ozone layer is much more weaker now so the effect of uv rays are much more stronger mixed with pollution in the air, obviously today despite high spf we have bad skin

This video was a huge eye-opener to me. I have been using sunscreens for years but haven't really given it much thought beyond checking the SPF 🤦♀️
I am as guitly. Because of my pigmentation I used only la roche and neutrogena but when i started using reequil something didnt feel right in the past few months...so i started checking..one thing lead to another. I studied some 30 odd sunscreens for this video but shortlisted just the most requested reviews.

100% agree with you.. I have been fooled by many product reviews of so many influencers (not their fault).. We need more rigid regulations in India, I wonder how so many products are releasing in India with almost everyone SPF 50+ and PA4+.. How can we trust these products blindly?

Lotus Sunscreens are misleading. Their spf 50 matte gel have only one UVB blocker which means it doesn't block uva at all which are responsible for aging, skin cancer, hyperpigmentation and tanning.
Jovees spreads so well on the face , and less white cast too ..thanks for an affordable option!! Got the kaya too- spreads well again , would use jovees for indoor use and kaya for outdoor use.

Hii guys all the Reequil sunscreens are certified , I just had a word with them and they have sent me the certification papers ..

The Purito was certified by the an FDA-like agency. So using that as your criteria for whether a sunscreen is good doesn't make sense. The FDA itself is VERY behind on sunscreen research and filters compared to the rest of the world. You cant just mistrust all sunscreens. Check if they burn and reapply often. It's not that hard. Or if you really have an issue send it to a lab yourself.

Just want to update, I had asked reequil for the ppd rating of their sunscreen and they responded saying it was 22. Also, the la roche posay sunscreen has alcohol right. Alcohol is necessary to increase the penetration of certain ingredients.. but still it can cause free radical damage which means accelerated aging

Alcohils are completely safe in skincare ...these were also victims of clean beauty movement like parabens oxybenzene....there's of course the question of formulation integrity but that's not something that we can check wirh application or use. And that's for every product.

So glad you made this video. It was really informative! I've been using the Re'equil sunscreen but I guess it's time to switch. I've tried the Jovees SPF 60+ matte sunscreen, but I didn't particularly enjoy the fragrance (just my personal preference) and it was pilling. Would you recommend the Kaya SPF 30 or the SPF 50?

Lacto calamine and jovees are both boot star certified and affordable.. you can check her previous video where she has shared the link to article on boot star certified sunscreen
All the products on Jovees' website don't have all the ingredients mentioned. Moreover the sun defence products including their premium sun lotion mentions only carrot seed oil, wheat germ oil, milk thistle extracts etc. as their ingredients. How are these products providing sun protection? The website doesn't mention any UV filters, hence curious.

Thank you for all that you do! The research that’s gone into this video is incredible. I do hope we get easier access to testing labs in India, so we can know what goes into our sunscreens. For better or for worse, the Bello suits me well and has been recommended to me by my dermatologist, so I’ll wait for my tube to get over before switching back to good old Neutrogena :)

Appreciate the lady's effort, but you need to do some responsible research! Quoting a few numbers might sound intelligent to folks who are not well informed. As a molecular biologist I can assure you that doing research wrt the ingredients is not enough. At times, the articles themselves are flawed and not right scientifically. The right way to choose a sunscreen is depending on your skin type and to understand your skin in the first place. Secondly, to see what does your skin require the most and your daily skin care routine. For example, Kaya's niacinamide is of no use if you are coupling it with a vit c serum/ cream, worse if you are whipping it over anything containing AHA unless you want your skin to flake out. You do not want to choose a highly photostable, chemical sunscreen that will continue to burn your sensitive skin steadily for hours together!

Ma'am, the new Earth Rhythm sunscreen with spf 50+ claims to have followed some COLIPA guidelines. Is it reliable? Also, the sunscreen by la Roche posay is retailing for 4k in Amazon. Is Avene a suitable substitute?

Hey the video was so much informative but i wanted to say something alongwith sun protection I don't want my sunscreen to give a white caste like the white cast makes me shy away from reapplying the sunscreen which is dangerous since we need to reapply and also put adequate amount on our face to protect it. All this time I was using la shield one.. I am worried😥😥 now. And recently bought Bello Photostable one after seeing shivee's video. In jovees sunscreen there are many variant which one to go for. All said I am still in shock what damage I have done to my skin by using the wrong sunscreen all this years 😪😪

Also what are your thoughts on cheryl's pharmaceutical sunscreen spf 30? Actually it is a liquid sunscreen spreads easily even on the eye area.

Cheryl's is a very respected manufacturer and they actually manufacture for quite a few brands I think even for derma Co. I have not tried the sunscreen though

Hi … my dermatologist suggested me photoprotect fusion water sunscreen….I have a sensitive and oily skin….and this is excellent sunscreen for me….only thing is it is expensive for me…it cost around 2000 for only 50ml ….can you give me the dupe for this sunscreen… looking for water based hydration for v oily skin

I used Lotus fr a long time! The hyperpigmentation around eyes n mouth ( due to teenage rebellion against sunscreen and mum) was not stopping even after reapplication.
Switched to reequil. And it has stopped worsening ( with retinoid).
I reasearched on incidecoder and was surprised to see lacto calamine and jovees had basic good ingredients and less irritants. I'll try them next because they are cost effective and will ensure reapplication.

What about Suncros and Neutrogena??? I have been using suncros ( spf 50+ , pa +++, as per their claim) through this winter months ( my skin is normal to dry) and m loving the feel and moisturization that it gives. But with the summer approaching i m thinking of switching to Neutrogena. Now i really want to know ur views on both of them regarding the protection that they give. I really hope suncros is good as its a medicated product.

I hope I am wrong and we do have the brand sharing that these sunscreens are indeed certified cause there are so many of us who just dont know whether its safe.
SOmeone from the community shared yesterday that she had used a sunscreen prescribed by her dermat for a year and her pigmentation went from bad to worse...she then switched to neutrogena and the pigmentation improved.

I shwetha, currently the only way to know if a sunscreen is certified is when the brand declares it. If the brand does not declare it - then its not certified. It costs money to get sunscreens certified and if thebrand is spending that extra money they will definitely crow about it of course :)

@@trishamondal4516 it smells like fevicol bt does it's work perfectly. Initially it gives white cast but after 10 minutes it absorbs completely. I'm medium skin tone.....People with darker skin tone might feel a little white cast.

Sunscreens are not suppose to stop the skin from burning so tan does happen. Some of us are more prone to tanning than others. its just best to wear protective clothing or stay out of the direct sun.

Hey! The Neutrogena sunscreen has sunscreen filters which are bio accumulative in nature. Is it safe to use it still?
If you are referring to Benzophenone-3 which is also known as Oxybenzone it has been deemed completely safe. For it to have any damage to a human body it has to be used continuously for 277 years non stop. Which means its very safe :) (this informatoin is from a research paper quoted by LabMuffin who is a PHD scientist)
There is a so much of information and so much different aspects that its easy to get confused...I do too...

Another sunscreen I have been in love with recently is Forrest Essential SPF 50 . I have gone a couple of tubes of through Re'equill SPF 50 as well (after your and Jovita's recommendation)
Is it certified? I could not find any certification for Reequil...I will give the Forest essential a look...

Hi could you please reply where do you buy the la roche posay sunscreen from? The one you showed it in your video, is the one I have been using for years, but i need a new tube, and the few websites selling this, I am doubtful of them. I used to get mine during travel, because of the obvious reason, can't travel, it would be really helpful if you could share from where to buy that particular sunscreen, and which website could I trust.

How and where to check the certification?? I have been using La Shield gel and ROC Soliel Protect. Recently bought Truderma Sunscreen Gel.
There 8a jo system...brands have to get it certified. Roc US is FDA certified.
