2" Blinds Won't Tilt Open or Close? Here's a Fix.

  • The blinds in the video are 2" faux wooden blinds that have the pull cord to tilt them open and closed. They came with the house when it was built. 6 of them have stopped working. I finally learned how to fix them, which I share in this video.

Thank you SO much! Excellent instructions and video. My husband has Alzheimer's but wants to do all the things he used to do. Since I know how important it is for him to feel useful, I'm learning to undo what he has "fixed" when I can find some time alone.

We bought our house a year and a half ago. About a year ago this happened with several of the blinds in our house. I'm usually intimidated by even the smallest home projects but lately have felt motivated to go out and try to find instructions on how to fix things. I can't believe it's this easy and I've put it off this long. I just saw this video this morning at work and now I can't wait to get home and get to fixing! Thanks!

WOW! I knew this was fixable, just didn't know how! Well shot, easy to see all the necessary parts! Now when I open and close the blinds, I will make sure both ends of the cord are taut and pull slowly, and I bet this will prevent it from happening again.
    Thanks, Chris!

Absolute legend! Managed to fix my blinds which were 'broken' for years, in just a few minutes. My problem was the rod running through all the components wasn't reaching the wheel, so as the wheel moved the other components and the blinds wouldn't. I'd never have even thought it was possible to open them up and fix it myself if it weren't for you!

Fixed my apartments blinds in about 15 minutes with the help of this video. Mine must have never been touched because the metal piece was realllly hard to pull off. I ended up not forcing it, just using tweezers and feeding the thread through to get some room to fish the line back onto the roller. I even wiped out the dust it collected and they’re back to normal!! Thank you!!!

Solution was perfect for the problem i was having with my blinds, thanks for the video.
One comment, while fixing i accidentally moved the rod that connects the three twisters and one of them got misaligned when i put the rod back in, this caused the blinds to not actually turn even when the pulley was moving perfectly. Took some time to figure that out, posting the comment just in case some one else also did the same and was trying to fix it.
