I think it’s dissonances that lead to „proper“ chords that always sound amazing. But I have forgotten most of my music theory knowledge. Also the strange beat makes it stand out, can’t tell if 3/4 or 4/4
it feels like 6/8 or 3/4 to me. i reckon 6/8 because each group of 3 beats feels like it has a pair (second half of a 6/8 bar as opposed to a separate 3/4 bar) and because of the significance put on the first and fourth beats. also it’d be awfully fast to conduct in 3/4 lol (i’m hearing about 180bpm ish). imo one of the reasons it stands out so much is because it’s literally a sax coming out of nowhere, you could debate whether the very start of the trailer is a sax or clari (paired with vocals as well) but this is unmistakeably a sax bending the hell out of the first note and absolutely ripping through the theme. of course it’s also contrasted by the sections before and after which adds to the effect, and the explosive percussion and accompaniment of the sax is brilliant too. i can’t get enough of it lmao 😅 gonna have to work this into a band solo at some point
@@robert19 I think it might be 4/4 with triplets. It sounds really close to being 6/8, but the quicker set of 3 notes that start playing at around 2:16 would be in a really awkward spot for 6/8, but fall right on beat 2 for 4/4.

The trailer opens with a vast swaths of Hyrule as the we break through the clouds. It feels as though the peaceful quality in the first segment is a calm after great exertion, a hard won peace and rest. The natural sounds and slow breaking of dawn swells into the heroic person who brought it about drops into view and the Title card makes its first appearance. Tension whisps in the air and is being actively combated by Link's heroic efforts, you still see him roving about the land as it's protector. The piano notes are high and light and the chorus is also strong and high, you get the sense that the land is rebuilding itself and there is hope after the events of the last game. Then in the transition. Several soft piano notes play, cautiously, expectantly. Then there's a resurgence, a lingering evil that bursts forth from beneath to destroy that calm. But it's distorted, the sounds are uneasy and hard to listen to, something is very wrong and unfamiliar about this evil. There's a discordant clash between drums, the piano is struggling to stay atop the score and a strange alien sound thrums as the drum beats the piano into submission. Ganon was underestimated by the Kingdom as the result of thousands of years hundreds of cycles of rebirth and defeat. But this is different, evil is the strongest it's ever been, Zelda falls into darkness her light swallowed up by the depths. The frantic tempo of the following scenes as Link races against challenges new and varied. String notes and trumpet blasts are fast paced and tell you that there's urgency and a struggle. The chorus climbs in pitch as Link rides into battle on horseback. The chorus deforms and is twisted, as Link rides up an ancient elevator then beaten back by the slam of the drum and the reveal of some unknown creature. Those musical thoughts reach a pitch and die away into... Confusion? The sight of a renewed Hyrule Castle and the arresting of the music almost tell us that there's more going on that we might not have guessed at but we don't know what it could be. There is a tired refrain of the strings as the unknown narrator begins to speak. Good did not prevail in this first encounter with Evil, strong and strange. It was unequipped to deal with the menace. But the voice speaks to Zelda after the defeat, there is a hope that's still out there somewhere. Link is their last line of defense, he _must_ find a way to overcome. Zelda's realization of this. The horn instruments and singers rise again from the calm, but now something new is in play, we see a display of Link's new powers, his competence in tackling these new trials as the saxophone enters the mix, this is a new take on old challenges, the saxophone gets adopted into the score in the same way Link has to adopt these new abilities to stand amongst the chorus. The scene changes and there's a moment of quiet reflection by Zelda as she grapples with the burden of responsibility. She rose to the occasion in the last battle with the Calamity, but this setback has reopened old insecurities. She knows what she must do, and quietly resolves to play her part.. Ganon is not impressed. He orders you to witness his glory. The drums of war burst onto the scene and come to the fore as he assembles his minions, it marshals forth to battle the hero. Increasing in tempo the as though a large army breaks into a calvary charge. The saxophone also returns now, and a measured beat of the drums as the heroes also charge forward to meet this threat. Link is not alone, and Good has risen up. The main them of the series plays in a fresh remix. The familiar glory of the Chosen Hero crescendos mixed in with this new iteration as the Sax supports. There is history in this tune, it carries with it the adventures of many heroes before it and the Hero of the Wilds carries that legacy in his own admirable way. A single refrain carries through the Title card as the music fades away. Zelda implores Link to find her. It sounds expectant, we don't know what became of the great clash that just happened, what was gained and who was lost. The piece ends with three, single, piano keys in the tune of Zelda's Lullaby but also perhaps hinting at the triune nature of this cycle of violence at the center of all this. The Powerful Evil, The Wise Princess, and The Courageous Hero.
I love the introduction of the saxophone from 2:08 it's a new addition but it suits the song so well. Edited: I can't wait for the live orchestra of this.
I love how the music of Breath of the Wild felt so quiet and lonely., reflecting a defeated hero and a crushed populace trying to recover from a devastating calamity. This music by comparison perfectly accompanies the revealed story beats of the populace and the new champions rising up to stand with their hero. The callbacks to the main theme and the jazzy flair add a note of hope and joy in opposition to the menace of Ganon’s theme.
You know what I absolutely love? Seeing this whole comment section come together and agree that the music is amazing, it almost brings a tear to my eye.
this entire track just grabbed my soul, chewed it up, spit it back out, chewed it up again, stepped on it, then hugged the crap out of me. I’m so wound up in my feels i don’t even know what to do about it.
Soundtrack and artistic style is such a major thing for me when it comes to video games, and Zelda always delivers. But this is something else, can't even begin to describe how perfect 2:08 is. Along with the rest of it. The game looks INCREDIBLE in every department, and I know it's early to call just from a trailer, but I genuinely don't see how this game doesn't end up being game of the year (or more).
0:17 to 0:20 you can just barely hear this growly low noise and it sounds exactly like the erratic and chaotic music that plays when fighting a shadow beast in twilight princess
1:37 with the vocals and then the low brass kicking in is so incredible. Then of course the saxophone at 2:08 what an amazing display for this game. I can’t wait for the sound track to come out
Breath of the Wild was about the tranquility of defeat, as symbolized by the silent princess and the blue energy associated with the Shrines. Tears of the kingdom is about the chaos of victory, as symbolized by the green energy of the Zonai trials, and the thorned thistle and dragons.
I love the almost robotic and chirpy Zonai vocals, its fucking amazing. They made a new written language in the first one(Ancient Sheikah?) and now a spoken one(Zonai)
For me, the hype builds up at @2:48 combined with the Legend of Zelda Original theme song @3:03. Its giving me the evil vs hero vibes. Whoever the music director was, I think he/she is very brilliant. That was a cool transition, for me.
Exactly this is what I'm saying bro. 2:48 is dark and intense, almost creates suspense. And then the break with those amazing trumpets oh my gosh sweep in at 3:03 with the main Zelda theme. It's like a hero popping in to fight the boss to save the day. And it's composed to where it sounds very epic. A lot of people been talking about 2:08, but 3:03 is where it's at for me.
2:08 it's the, "You ruined my day, absolutely decimated my entire life, but more than that, you pissed me off and now I'm going to have to ram this sword straight down your throat, even though I only come up to your kneecaps" motif. Also known as, "oh, you son of a bitch," or "you done fucked up." Some songs tell a whole story without speaking a word.

It’s a real shame that, as far as I know, this plays nowhere in the game. I do hope they find a use of a variation of the saxophone in a dlc cutscene or something.
There also seems to be the themes of many different Zelda games in here. I heard a touch of Twilight in there even.

You know what I absolutely love? Seeing this whole comment section come together and agree that the music is amazing, it almost brings a tear to my eye.
WE GETTING OUT THE DEPTHS WITH THIS ONE 🔥🔥🗣🗣💯💯
@1:19 it plays the first four notes of Midnas desperation from twilight princess. Could totally be a coincidence but it’s never a coincidence with LoZ
Zonai's desperation now.
Not the same notes
It’s actually closer to TP’s hyrule field theme
@@sonymicronin correct… but 3:31 DOES have them
@@gordo8354 omg you're right!
The saxophone is what makes this stand out for me, would never have thought to hear it in a Zelda game but it frikking ROCKS!!!
On my opinion best parts are 1:19 and 2:08
Your opinion is fact
True!
I AM IN LOVE WITH THE PARRY SOUND MAKES MY HEART HAPPY EVERYTIME!!
this entire track just grabbed my soul, chewed it up, spit it back out, chewed it up again, stepped on it, then hugged the crap out of me. I’m so wound up in my feels i don’t even know what to do about it.
Old fans come for the music references, young fans come for the jazzy part
everyone comes for the jazzy part.
Both hit so insanely hard
When Ganondorf screamed, so did the rest of us 😂😂
These trailers STILL give me chills
The soundtrack makes one of my favourite trailers ever better.
as always the pv music is breath taking. the massive use of suona (chinese saxophone), erhu and a bit of pipa at the end just make it sounds epic.
It's just an Alto Saxophone.
It's not a suona it's alto sax with erhu. Trust me I play alto sax.
@@jackcollins87 Hello, fellow sax player
Can we just admit that this is one of the best, most epic trailer songs of our time? Maybe best ever?
2:08 was definitely my favorite part of the entire trailer such a good part of the theme!!!!!
THe part at 1:37 does something with me
You getting possessed by malice
Soundtrack and artistic style is such a major thing for me when it comes to video games, and Zelda always delivers.
But this is something else, can't even begin to describe how perfect 2:08 is. Along with the rest of it.
The game looks INCREDIBLE in every department, and I know it's early to call just from a trailer, but I genuinely don't see how this game doesn't end up being game of the year (or more).
Nintendo does not miss with Zelda’s osts this is just beautiful
Bro the 2:08 is absolutely insane I get chills everytime I hear it
playing the game and understanding the significance of some of the musical choices feels SO GOOD
0:17 to 0:20 you can just barely hear this growly low noise and it sounds exactly like the erratic and chaotic music that plays when fighting a shadow beast in twilight princess
oh wow you are right I can hear it 😯
1:37 with the vocals and then the low brass kicking in is so incredible. Then of course the saxophone at 2:08 what an amazing display for this game. I can’t wait for the sound track to come out
Bro that saxophone is so SAXY
Absolutely love the vocals at 2:35 they sound reversed, such a nice vocalization to accompany the main theme
They made a new written language in the first one(Ancient Sheikah?) and now a spoken one(Zonai)
they managed to make a saxophone sound eerily like a singing voice
2:09 THIS is what I've been waiting for
what an incredible song
My favorite part is the melody that starts at 2:08 and the parry with the music at 2:12
For me, the hype builds up at @2:48 combined with the Legend of Zelda Original theme song @3:03.
Remember when the music of the final trailer for BotW was REAL fire?
Well imho, this thing hits 100 times HARDER and i'm most likely understating it.
2:08 it's the, "You ruined my day, absolutely decimated my entire life, but more than that, you pissed me off and now I'm going to have to ram this sword straight down your throat, even though I only come up to your kneecaps" motif. Also known as, "oh, you son of a bitch," or "you done fucked up."
Some songs tell a whole story without speaking a word.
Beautiful. Takes me back to the hype of 2017
this is such a masterpiece of a trailer, and one of the greatest trailer soundtracks of all time. i have been listening to this nonstop for the past 2 days. thank you so much for the W music video!
1:53 The reversed voices sound they say “It’s for you”
This sounds so fucking cool. The music made this a trillion times better
The music for this game is already just amazing on its own, my favorite parts especially are 2:08 - 2:41 and 3:03 - 3:20
I avoided watching the trailers for this game, i was always gonna buy it, but this song turned me from being excited about this game to not being able to think about anything else
2:08 this part had me tears
i'm such a huge music fan and i've started to become a huge zelda fan after last year as well. this trailer is epic and the music is just so much more amazing. my insides melt everytime i hear these and i love it
Giving me chills all over again
2:08 feels like they compressed every single journey into one sound. im talking about from the first game up to totk. it makes me cry because of how epic it is.
It’s a real shame that, as far as I know, this plays nowhere in the game. I do hope they find a use of a variation of the saxophone in a dlc cutscene or something.
The Midna's Lament motif and especially the sax go crazy in this, what an outstanding trailer theme
This is what a good trailer looks like, the previous trailers only got me worried about the game but this one got me excited.
Jesus the sax at 2:08 is amazing
The music is so good 😭😭😭!!
At 3:04 trumpets go to another level, the brass and the sax section went hard for this piece
I swear, my soul ascends to the heavens at 2:08.
The heavy synth at the end? Ugh it’s so GOOOODDDD
There also seems to be the themes of many different Zelda games in here. I heard a touch of Twilight in there even.
So at my school there's an annual event that simulates UN debates, and the organizers are students. Today they presented a trailer for the event, and they used this soundtrack!! The absolute best way to make me hyped to discuss the oil crisis
Damn this theme is WILD 😮
So excited to get the game 😊
2:08 to the end is probably some of the BEST orchestral music I’ve ever heard in my life. The Zelda team never ceases throw our expectations into a massive bonfire of incredible content.
do you know the name of the song ?
Just “Tears of the Kingdom Final Trailer Soundtrack” 💀
This song makes me hope we love Tears of the Kingdom.
Simply beautiful.
2:08 Bro I just yeeled on this part what is this fucking masterpiece
It is TO GOOD
Hearing Zelda's Lullaby made me feel hyped and nostalgic at the same time. What a nice detail by Nintendo.
thanks for breaking the mould and working on something your channel doesn't usually cover
Thanks to all of you for your support!
I can already imagine the game awards orchestra going off on this one
The Sax is killing it
The transition from Ganondorf to the main theme always hits me hard, its incredible! Thank you for this video!
