      To true, I was considering buying a 3500X to benchmark it because I wasn't happy with what I was reading (to much variation) but getting stuck with a £100 CPU didn't appeal. Now, with this video I have all my benchmarks done for me, close enough for me anyway. A 2700X is going to be fine against a 3500X so I am not going to get hammered by people undercutting me by £40.

      PSU --> cx 550
      RAM--> Trident z 8x2 3200MHz
      Cooler--> hyper 212 black
      This is what i am using with my 3600

      Being from South East Asia myself, I leaned towards AliExpress recently this year for their cheap shipping. Of course, I was also skeptical so I'm still sticking to smaller purchases, like the wealth of affordable OEM keycap sets, keyboard coiled cables, 60% Keyboards like the Anne Pro 2 (which I think is a local Chinese brand anyway [Obins]) etc. So far, no issue for me. I stuck to the vendors with more reviews, the way I do with Amazon.

      @jeremyniels 4 роки тому +3

      My best tip is when you look at ratings, , select the 1 star ones and read them carefully. Too often ive been disappointed by a product with only 5 star ratings of 1000+ , people really are clueless . Also dont buy random cheap usb sticks they are 100% a scam ... while 99% of ratings of thousands ppl are positive, the usbs are 10000% fraud . Reviews are FAKE , after testing them i went to read the few negative reviews and it became clear i shouldve done this sooner. GL

      Look at the numbers of orders and reviews. If the guy sold hundreds/thousands of CPUs and if the CPU has a lot of reviews, that 99.9% of the time means the product is ok. But remember, if you find a seller who sells way cheaper than others and you think it's too good to be true, it probably is.

      Which is why they won't I think. I can't see where it fits in the UK (if I was AMD). Let them buy up Zen+ stock, the APU, or the 3600 would be my attitude. I wonder if rather than the 3500X what we might see at some point id the 3500G. So a 6 core APU based around the 3500- but then what price? Already (UK) I can get a 3600 for £170 0n a good day so what would a 3500G sell at. Is anyone going to pay say £220 for an APU?

    • @twmbarlwmstar
      @twmbarlwmstar 4 роки тому

      Yes but he also ignores the fact that Ali is pants for us, the shipping and duties/taxes are very different. Just an example bevcause it is real, I bought an Atom Pi from the USA to UK and by the time I get it then it has gone from about $35 to £70! That is taxes and shipping. I imported from Aus, even with a bit of dodgy, I still ended up with about £30% taxes and shipping. Not beating the guy up about it but everyone needs top consider those prices because they don't translate- in fact people can help him out, if they have the prices for their region stick them up in comments. What makes total sense in say NZ will make no sense at all in Germany. In the UK you can get lucky as the vendor will mis-value, but if it goes missing you just lost that 'widget' that was actually £500 worth of IT (and of course you are technically a criminal). In the UK if it isn't via the EU then the prices are eye-watering.
      Going back to those AToms, even if I imported 100 I still would have had to sell them about £70 to make a few £ profit. The much better Latte Panda can be had for less than £90 as it has come via Germany- although all the extras don't so you can get hammered on those.

It is too complex, that is why I suggest it would be good if people do it for him. A great deal for someone in NZ might make no sense in France for example, because of taxes. I know AUS has really low import taxes compared to the UK so importing from China makes lots of sense- but in the UK it is painful to import outside of the EU.

    i have the x4 860k on my system. the cpu is fine for light gaming such as csgo and simple multi-tasking. but you really start to see the diminishing return when you play games like rainbow six siege which is pretty hard on cpu at high frames(50% gpu usage at 60fps, cpu on 100%). it also goes the same if you play mmorpg. the low single thread performance just won't cut it. you will experience a lot of stutters. you can still game on an entirely gpu-bound titles tho. that being said, i can't live without my mmorpg and siege, so i'm getting myself a 3600.

    I'm actually quite shocked at how much performance is lost with SMT on. To the point where I feel that those number seem unlikely be right, specially the minimum fps (where I'd really rather have seen some 1% and 0.1% low numbers instead). I'm curious. Did you do any sort of validating with those numbers? Such as testing other motherboards with those CPU's, or turning off SMT with the 2600 and 3600, to see if SMT is actually the reason, and not something else? :)
    Other than that, I agree that it's a real shame that the 3500X aren't available through regular retail channels. Personally i wouldn't risk buying it on Ali Express (too much risk of it never showing up, and too many extra import duties attached, where I'm from), but if i could get it retail, i would probably consider it for a smaller budget build.

I've been trying to decide between the 2600, 2600x, or 3600. This 3500x really throws a wrench in all that because of how cheap it is. Not sure where to go from here. Pricing here in the Philippines is good. The Ryzen 5 2600 is really on a good price point right now. I bought 1 just last month to replace my age old i5-2400. Although I didn't pair it with a B series motherboard but I still went with a decent board w/c is the Asus EX-A320M-Gaming. It's a bit of an unusual board since it's an A320 chipset but has 4 DIMM slots and has Aura Sync. I don't intend on overclocking that's why I went with an A320 board and the CPU+Board only cost me 189 USD shipped ($127 on the processor) so I would call that a pretty good deal. And as for the RAM I went with HyperX Fury 8GB x2 DDR4-2666 CL16 that set me back $70 ($35 per stick). I think I went with the wrong RAM although it's still decent but I only realized a few weeks after that the TForce Elite RGB 16GB x2 8GB DDR4-3200 kit only costs $77 shipped I would've gone with that one.

      www.gigabyte.com/ph/Motherboard/GA-A320M-S2H-V2-rev-11#kf
      I can say that this would be the cheapest A320 board right now with B350 Chipset so this one might be able to handle iGPU OC for APUs, might be good for budget builds!

    What's the difference between PBO2 & a manual OC? I currently have a Ryzen 3 1200 OCed to 3.9GHz on a ASRock AB350 Pro4, thinking when I get the money I'd upgrade to at least a used 2400G or maybe spend the extra $40ish Canadian for the 2600 though the 3500X would only be a extra $20ish ($160) so in the range of a 2600X though the 2600/X got the extra threads that may be useful for recording & streaming.

    Thanks Bryan, I just made an Aliexpress account and purchased one. A new sealed one was only 6 dollars more, so I went for one of those. This is an awesome deal, and I should be able to sell my i5 6600k and recoup most of my money on the cpu upgrade, and I should have a much better upgrade path for the future.

    If you already have the 860k i would say why not go for it. You can always upgrade to a ryzen 5 2600 for $150ish down the line with mobo maybe more with RAM and still have the 570. My 860k and rx 480 did me good for the past two years no real complaints for what it is.

    *Zen3/4000*
    Just FYI, but the AM4 socket is supposed to support these CPU's in 2020. Rumors are between 8% and 14% IPC (for CPU constrained situations and varies by application). Should be slightly higher frequency so we might see up to 20% gains in performance. Possibly 30% for very specific applications that have specific CPU architectural tweaks... also be interesting to see how the IO chip and DDR4 support works but I suspect lower frequency memory will be less of a bottleneck than current Zen2/3000.

    3500x + GIGABYTE B450M-S2H + Ballistix Sport LT 3200 CL16 should be the best price/performance combo atm.
    You can overclock that particular ram kit on that board to 3733 MHz, unlike other cheap B450 boards.
    If you want killer B450 board, go for MSI B450 Mortar MAX. It has great VRM, can run even 3900x without performance loss compared to x570 Taichi, and good feature set. Plus MAX means that it's Ryzen 3000 ready.

    To be kept in mind, 3500X is a compromise for fully parallelisable creative/engineering tasks. Cinebench R15 on this thing reads around 1000cb, while 2600x gets around 1400cb, and 3600 around 1600cb or more.
    It would be interesting to see it benched across a wider variety of games. By all reason, there has to be one or another where lack of SMT will be of disadvantage. But then it's really not something to worry about too much, the performance will have to be more than ample anyway.
