🏍 WHO IS TIM COLLINS OF FTA ADVENTURES? (FORMERLY FORTY TIMES AROUND)
A lifelong adventure enthusiast and a long time motorcycle traveler, I have spent the last few years honing my craft as a motorcycle adventure specialist.
Motorcycle travel and camping have become my largest passions in life. I have a meticulous nature that helps me analyze gear, technique and tactics in a way that is highly beneficial to anyone looking to embark on a motorcycle venture of any scope.
Great choice of questions Tim. Excellent job answering them. You’re a real dude going through real stuff. You are not alone. Thanks to Bob for taking some of that off of you. Great guy. Hope to see you guys get off on another adventure.
I’ve been following you for a while now. Sooo glad you’re doing good. Videos are great and I look forward to them. The bike looks awesome. Baja will be great. Keep up the good work.
I appreciate that! Thanks for being here! Ride safe my friend.
I am really looking forward to the course; I can tell your recovery has advanced greatly, today you are more like the old Tim 😊
Thank you! I’m feeling much better 😊
Yours is the only channel with notifications ON.
I appreciate that!
I also suffer with anxiety and depression that is ever-present. Your videos, starting several years back, have been an inspiration to me to explore on the road and this helps me get out of my “funk” which is really hard to do. The recent loss of my mom (and a year ago, my dad) was quite a blow this year. Obligations to deal with her estate have kept me home this season and I feel the spiral of emotions bringing me down hard. I look forward to following your future adventures. It gets me thinking “forward”. You probably know what I mean. You are an inspiration on many levels. ✌️
I can relate. Thank you, I really appreciate that! Sorry to hear about your parents. I definitely know what you mean. Thank you!
Thanks for opening up and letting us know how things are going. Glad your on the mend, and thanks, Bob!!
Thank you!
Thank you Tim for just being you. You still have a place to stay up here in Southern Oregon when you need a place to
Thank you my friend! I appreciate that. Maybe next summer I might head up there.
Hey Tim, you are looking good. I'm glad to hear you are doing better and I appreciate you talking so openly about your mental health struggles. It's not something that should be stigmatized and a lot of us are going through our own challenges too.
Thank you my friend! I appreciate you being here!
Enjoyed the Q&A
Agree that motorcycling can help with getting through difficult times. BTW…reading C.S. Lewes- Signature Series collection can also assist.
Keeping your well-being, strength, and perseverance in thought!
Signed up for the course. Thanks for making something like this possible! Your working knowledge and experience offers a high degree of credibility!
Sincere Regards-
Thanks I’ll check that out. Thanks for buying my course, hope you enjoy it!
Welcome!
sending tim waves of love. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ i've had to go to the hospital too when things were dire. lets just say going to the hospital was plan B. a nurse whose face i never saw [because my eyes were glued to the carpet] said something that gave me a spark of hope when i had none: 'i used to be like u and now i'm ok.' i know how tough a haul it is to get out of that dark hole. god bless u and may the angel on ur shoulder give u hope and comfort. i'm especially glad that someone had ur back when u needed it the most. HUGS
Thank you Rosemary! That is a really great perspective, it's always good to know we are not alone in our struggles. Hugs back at you!
So glad you're back in a better frame of mind. My fellow Massachusetts native moved to AZ! If you need anything let me know.
Thank you my friend!
Hey Tim. Glad you're on the up mate. Really good to hear. 👍🏻
I'm clicking the link for the course now. Cheers. Jim. Uk.
Awesome, thank you!
Thanks for the answers and insight. Always good to know you’re on the upswing. I think many of us see you as a distant family member and really hate to see you struggle. But, as it’s part of life that we all face sometimes, just know we are always thinking good thoughts for you. 👍
Thank you my friend that means a lot to me!
Great to see you more at ease with everything Tim. Just signed up for the course and super-excited to move my knowledge from close to zero base to at least being better informed! I will never be a master mechanic but I have struggled to find a course which caters to my beginner level and helps build gradually
Awesome, thank you! Hope you enjoy the course
Great questions and great Q&A! Hopefully it goes without saying but It was great having you over and you are always welcome if you're ever in my area again.
Thank you! It was really great getting to meet you and staying with you. I hope we cross paths again!
So happy you are feeling happier and healthier! Great channel!
Thank you so much!
Loved the Q&A man! Glad to hear you’re on the mend. If you’re ever in TN, it’d be cool to meet up. Take care.
Thanks! Will do!
Always enjoy the Q&A Tim. Seems I always pickup on something useful. RIDE SAFE OUT THERE!
Thanks, you too!
Glad to hear your mental health is improving, hope it continues to do so :)
Thank you!
You’re amazing thanks for all you do to inspire us !
I appreciate that!
so glad to hear you are doing well.
Thank you!
Hi Tim. Great video and advice as usual. In particular I admire your courage talking about your mental health challenges. I can relate. It’s great to get this stuff out in the open and talk about it. Particularly for men given we all know how we tend to bottle this stuff up. Keep going mate. Love your channel 👍😎
Thank you! I agree it's good to talk about issues we deal with. It's good to know you're not alone in your struggles. Ride safe my friend!
Thanks for the good answers. Can’t wait for the Baja episodes-it’s on my bucket list. Thanks again.
Glad you enjoyed this one. Can’t wait for Baja!
keep it up Tim, cool dude, stay safe riding and be grateful. Riding / camping is the best thing i can do. I am going to ride / camp
the Blue Ridge Pkwy in a few weeks !!
Right on! Have an awesome trip! That road is great
If you do come to Europe some day, I'm currently navigating between Normandy (north-west of France) and the south of Spain (basically summer / winter...) and will most likely keep doing that for years to come, I'll be happy to show you around either one. On the road though, my big Windsplitter (a Yamaha Royal Star from 2000) isn't really happy on dirt 😉
Sounds like a great plan!
I just signed up for your course Tim. Really looking forward to it. :)
Hope you enjoy it!
BTW my wife also battles with depression so I am not a stranger to it. I just wanted to say that I think you are an awesome guy. I may not be able to put my finger directly on it but there is something very special about you. You wreak with compassion and understanding. Please try to appreciate what you are and love yourself. We all appreciate you.
@@michaelsupple6081 thank you my friend, that means a lot to me!
good job bro!
Appreciate it!
Beast! Love you Tim. I get it........
Thank you so much for being brave enough to share your mental struggles with the world. Personally I struggle with depression and some people don't get it that you just can't flip a switch and change what your brain is doing. The thoughts pop out of nowhere... Anyway, thanks!
What is your best source for dispersed campsites? I want to do more of that and less KOA. KOA's app makes it so easy to just pop into one at the end of a hard day & I love their Basic Kabins. Plus the card carrying discounts are nice. But there's still more people and dogs, which I have an irrational fear of. So my goal is to get away from all that more. I too prefer an outhouse over the dig-n-hover method.
Sorry for the 3am rambling comment, too hot to camp in southern Texas and can't sleep in this motel. Long comment for, what's the easiest way to find dispersed campsites.
I can totally relate!
So for finding dispersed camping I usually just use Google maps. It seems too obvious but I have found some really great camping areas with that. iOverlander is good too. Thanks for the comment, hope this helps. I'm still waiting for it to cool off in Phoenix so I can do some local camping. Hope the weather breaks soon for you.
I work on a tug boat in NOLA! Really fun city.
That’s awesome! It really is a fun city.
Hi Tim. Sorry if I missed it, but why did you switch from the adv tent?
I switched about a year ago. Just wanted to test out something different. Went with something lighter and smaller.
Hi Tim… I was trying to pay for the online training using paypal and for some reason didn’t work… please check on that…
I’ll look into that, thank you for letting me know!
Just looked and saw that it worked for other people. Let me see what I can figure out. Not sure why it wouldn’t work for you. Was there an error message or anything?
I’ve been wanting to go to Baja solo for several years but my wife keeps telling me that it’s not a safe place, cartels and theft/robbery riding an expensive bike makes me a target and tourists in general. What’s your take Tim?
I’ve been to Baja several times and never had any issues. There really doesn’t seem to be much cartel activity in Baja. Just stay out of Tijuana if you can help it. I say go for it if you want to go, really nothing to fear.
@@FTAAdventures Thanks Tim, that’s reassuring to me.
Have you ever rode and camped with Scooter Tramp Scotty?
Not yet. I like his videos though.
I Rode to New Orleans with my wife about two years ago. We stayed for less than 30 minutes because of the smell and some of the shady people. I don’t get what people Love about New Orleans and I think it’s nasty🤮 I live in Dallas and it’s not much better. My favorite riding is on country back roads far away from any city.👍
Sorry you had a bad experience in New Orleans! I agree about the smell
