Exactly... I have a critical skill but the job markets (include gov) wants professionally registered ones. Where on earth will I be professionally registered with no opportunity to start as candidate so I can acquire experience to register as professional.

We have literally thousands of psychology HONOURS students that are struggling to get into masters so they can be qualified and work due to the lack in infrastructure and supervisors. Same goes with social workers. There are hundreds sitting at home and if they work they are paid peanuts.

But South Africa have always been stereotyped in their education system, it's about acquiring a degree and also from which university or institution before you are considered., post graduates are unemployed , there are a lot of students that due to lack of funds they opted for nursing, not because they liked nursing but because they needed a salary while studying.,Why can't that be the same with believe that could be the same with IT too.,
Junior entry level tech job: 8-10 years experience. Makes perfect sense.

Check out majority of gov posts, they want directors and deputy directors.. a component gets divided into 5 subs with DDs... And they want 10 years + experience, it's no wonder people are stuck with qualifications

Agriculture should be top of the list and first mentioned. Food is a essential, digital is not (One big solar flare could knock it all out...). Self-sufficiency should be taught at schools (growing your own food, energy efficient housing, how to sink a borehole, live off the grid, make your own furniture from recyclables etc.)
I actually wanted to do agriculture but they require pure mathematics which I don't have

As for Data scientist, I agree . But Electrical Engineering I don't agree as I'm unemployed qualified Electrical engineer registered with ECSA. When my contract expired, I was released by the government that says there is a shortage of engineers.

At the end of the day will never beat unemployment if we fund students at higher rater than funding new businesses. At the very least, for every 10 students funded, one new business must be funded.

but there are lot of graduates out there with those skills n qualifications but still unemployed the problem here is the system of government in terms of selecting
High school learners should be the ones listening to this, not those who are already in tertiary
We don’t just need more employment but also a better minimum wage rate per hour that’s actually helpful in every business . If the lowest paying job paid out R35- R50 per hour then you’d also have families being able to afford better education etc you have to improve the well being of your people first country second
Build more universities this will incite job creation not only for the people working in the university but also people that want to study further. SAs high unemployment rate trickles down to this main factor, learners need to constantly worry about getting space in a university more that actually meeting the requirements.
The objectives of the plan are clear:
To create jobs, primarily through aggressive infrastructure investment and mass employment programmes;
To reindustrialise our economy, focusing on growing small businesses;
To accelerate economic reforms to unlock investment and growth;
To fight crime and corruption; and,
To improve the capability of the state.

There are opportunities in China and honestly they pay alot there. You should check it out as an option and the contracts are usually 12 months if u do want to come back to SA
@@thabisilengcobo7691 They do pay a lot, but remember it's R32k BEFORE tax. It'll be a normal salary after the government takes their share and you're done paying for your needs. But the experience is amazing- I wish more young black people take advantage of this opportunity. South East Asia is need of English teachers, especially if you have a "model c" accent.
As a software dev, I earn R41k AFTER tax and I have no degree.

Learn Python, R(or SAS) and SQL and you should be able to get an entry level data analyst job
Learn Java/Javascript, C, C++, C#, HTML and you should be able to get a developer job.
Learn SAP, Excel, VBA, PowerBi and you should be able to get an entry level data related job.
Learn all of them and you will be able to get an entry level in Heaven 😝
this is frustrating coz they continue funding students for years knowing very well that they will not be employed with those kinda qualifications, you find someone busy raising their family's hopes for nothing like why not remove those degrees especially from the CAO forms coz it really is waste of money and time for our youth.

Lol you forgot to mention chem engineers who are over saturating the IT field, because of the lack of job opportunities in their field. IT graduates end up having to compete with Finance, Chem Eng, and other degrees for positions that ultimately don't require other qualifications. Corporate is so stuck on employing people in the IT field, even if they don't have the relevant degree and then making them do certifications that would otherwise make them feel like they are certified experts in the field. technology field is becoming saturated in this country now.
it is true about the web dev, as I am a junior web dev I got some great offers but I couldn't take them because I am a full-time student and these offers they were also full-time offers, but all in all the web developers are still needed in South Africa.

Where is the appropriate infrastructure for CAREER COUNSELLING SERVICE'S Mr. Minister. That should be started in basic education, you can only access once you 're already at university. To top off the basic education system is joke, it doesn't provide a good foundation - 30% for pass BUT you want scientists and engineers? Make it make sense.

Look if u chase your dreams there is high chance u won't get alot of money or have enough money until can't work eg pension fund or disability fund, because alot of people's dreams aren't 9-5 or 8-4. But if u chase employment u are guaranteed the pension and disability funds, and protection from work rights(lack of a better word) and workers organizations

When they are not even supporting students who lacks funds, why not take the people with no jobs who are already graduates and see if they don't want to change and do alternate courses and fund them., some of these that you are counting don't necessarily need degrees. Education system for SA also needs reviewing.

You can say that again. I feel like universities should encourage students to apply for these courses that are in high demand. Anyone can fell free to apply for whatever they want but universities should make an effort to make sure applicants know the state of the course they are applying for.

Depends what Electrical Engineering they did. Was it Bsc/BEng? Is coding included in their CVs? Or have they tried tutoring it? I know alot of students in need of help with Java, Javascript, Python and C/C++.

Network Engineers are not going to come from universities' degrees, because by the time you finish that stupid four-year degree, a Cisco CCIE has updated their certificate two times, making them more relevant than a university graduate with a curriculum that gets updated every 20 years, a cost to do CCIE is 500k to do, exam center I know is in Dubai, and it takes three days to write, on the last day you build a lab from scratch with stacks of switches and routers and map the network, by the way, following your degree, the job market expects you to have a CCIE certification rather than a computer science degree. A UCT or MIT professor must sit and take notes when a CCIE is troubleshooting an outage network
