- Animal Jam 2.. the largely anticipated game/project coming from WildWorks announced almost a year ago at this point. But.. Where is Animal Jam 2 and is it still even happening? In this video I discuss why I believe Animal Jam 2 is NOT happening, why it was largely hopeful/wishful thinking on WildWorks' end and why it would be largely redundant for them to resurrect this idea.

idk man, lately it seems like they've been *sort of* trying to pay more attention to ajc, but every time they try a new project ESPECIALLY if it would actually be good they give up and ignore everyone halfway through. it's very tired at this point
Thats not true tho, wild works always gave up on new project, now diff company owns aj and you dont know how they would manage a new game
@Rosekwarka pretty sure they bought wildworks as a whole, but either way, they've owned aj for quite a while now and nothing has changed. idk, I'm just not hopeful anymore
they bought wildworks in it's entirety that's correct but they really haven't paid more attention to AJC than necessary. these routinely summer long wild-weeknds with a random "new" den are the most "new" content AJC will get unless something drastic happens/changes

game fell off tremendously when they severed their connection to Nat Geo
Flash player also caused them to take a huge hit when it closed down. The game became less accessible, I suppose.

@@MetacoreGX fr that’s about when I started playing. My account is 11 years old!! It’s nuts. You had to be there to know how truly magical animal jam used to be. I get sad sometimes being unable to go back and relive it

To be honest, this would be the only way to bring back the popularity of Animal Jam Classic for even a month.

They should take away memberships in ajc if they're going to literally do nothing for the player base itself, because ajc is not playable without a membership. I get their main money maker is ajpw, but people are still investing their time and money into ajc which is a continuously dying game.
If no money is coming in from Classic they have no reason to keep it running. It would be almost guaranteed to kill it.
I'd probably guess a solid chunk of the revenue stream coming from AJC is just people who have forgotten to cancel recurring memberships so they definitely would never take it away lool
That would 100% be suicide for the game.
I kinda wish that AJC had adult servers. Most of the playerbase that sticks around are older. I think if they did this it would give a space to older players (since Feral is gone). I think AJC could be good as a role playing chatroom, but the chat filters make it challenging.

Very true, I feel like most of their players have been playing since they were younger. I am now 20 and I can’t stand having my chat filtered as much as it is, because I don’t even say anything wrong. I say a number and my chat is filtered. I can’t even say “trade me listed worth” without my chat being denied, which is ridiculous. But I can say black long no problems, as if that doesn’t sound inappropriate in the slightest ??

nah because that would make the traders leave and thats pretty much the only people who play anymore lmao. traders have said time and time again that if there is no more incentive to trade they will quit.
Heck Nahhh trading is a huge part of why the game is still active, and spikes are a HUGE currency in the game. This would severely affect the rarity system and the already screwed up economy. Plus, like the other person said, most of the players who still play ajc are older and only play for the trading. Everything else in the game is targeted at children, which is highly unappealing coming from someone who is now 21 and started playing when I was about 10. Plus, everyone who does have spikes would be FURIOUS because all of the other items they put into getting those spikes would be lost and they’d be left with a useless item. I just got a bunch of spikes and I traded away a lot of old items that went up in value since I stopped playing a long time ago, and I would never get those items back, my account value would be essentially zero if everyone could get a spike. If they lose all of their value, I would quit entirely and so would a lot of other people. It’s not like club penguin where there was no trading system, so adding back items doesn’t affect the value.
Disagreeing with the tradeaholics who have expensive outfits just to have it. Wildworks need to make the game playable for reasons other than having an outfit that's "worth a lot." It's a far stretch from 2014 when adventures first released and people genuinely enjoyed it. Nobody grinds adventures anymore because exploit losers got it patched. It's really tiring. The 1% tradeholics have pushed out a HUGE chunk of people: there are people who would have enjoyed the game without the terrible economy. Just because Tradeholics are the only people present DOES NOT MEAN THEY REPRESENT EVERYONE WHO PLAYED, EVER. Survivor bias to the max.
@@pillowscout I only partially disagree. WildWorks needs to focus on their existing playerbase, not the millions who have aged out of the game. Either they completely abandon AJC and modernize Animal Jam enough to actually appeal to the current generation of children, or they keep the game around for the sake of a small, loyal community that they still have. If most of their community is filled with traders, then doing something as egregious as slapping every trader in the face by bringing spikes back into the store is 100% how they kill their game permanently.
i wish they’d just pay some damn attention to ajc. add spikes collars back to forgotten desert for a start. make a new animal. actually release new clothing and armor , not just LAZY and bad looking recolors.. it’s so infuriating . we don’t want a new animal jam. the reason i never switched to play wild was because i liked real animal jam and learning the rarity of items and system of pw seemed daunting and like i’d be getting a late start.
we find want a aj 2. we want ajc to be prioritized.. or at least paid attention to.

The main thing is that they WANT to add new content. But the game is still running on flash. It's been stated before that even adding the recolor items is difficult- they're not lazy, they're working with outdated software that makes it incredibly difficult to add new content- that's why they wanted to rebuild the game! It would make new content much easier to add to the game. I truly do hope we get some new stuff soon too, but with the crumbling state of the game I don't think its likely.
Damn...maybe if they paid attention to AJC for once, maybe AJC will get traction again.
One of the biggest downfalls was that flash closed down. It wasn’t even the game itself, it’s simply because it became slightly less accessible vs. being a browser game. That alone caused a huge downfall in players. Not that it’s their fault, but after the closing of flash they almost abandoned the game entirely and started favoring play wild, feral, etc.
@@CheesusChrist-px1ok Well feral is a whole other ballgame. And I get it, flash was a main thing for everyone. But they still can put it on a new egeine even if it takes em a while to do so. When they brought it up, a lot of people started taking interest into ajc again and serves spiked for a short time. If they actually DID it and brought fresh, new updates, the community would go wild

@@Obzcurity they could, but I don’t know if it would guarantee more players. It’s still the same thing as downloading an app, except you’d have to download it through another engine which adds an extra step vs. simply downloading it off their page. The game isn’t necessarily inaccessible, but people are more likely to turn it down if they have to download an app to play. The simplicity of having it on a browser made a decent impact on the player count. I remember asking myself “seriously, I have to download an app just to play animal jam now? Thanks flash”.
I do agree with you that the player base would go up if they released more updates and content. I also think it would make a huge difference to add mature servers ( not servers to be inappropriate in ofc, but ones that are less censored and meant for the older player base since a large portion of players are adults or adolescents now). They could do advertising as well, I discovered the game on the tv one day when I was about 10, that’s how I discovered most of the online games I played. There’s honestly a lot they could do but it’s really dependent on their funding

Well, money wise they have good reason to focus on pw. That is where a vast majority of their income arrives from. Plus, mobile games tend to make a lot more money than people may realize, because of how easy they are to play anywhere. You don’t need a computer or console to play ajpw, which makes it a much more appealing choice for those who do not have one, and the only way to play aj at all. It also doesn’t help that flash closed down, a huge portion of players stopped playing after they moved to a desktop app.
Lots of cool games is gone because of flash leaving for a good,reason bout destroy computers with a bad virus,compared with steam games down loads don’t come with bad virus that can destroy your family important computer if they use it for work.
Hard to admit, but they will probably start to neglect classic more and more, diminishing the player count...
As a former AJC player, I do believe this could happen since AJPW is the more popular game out of the two and is the game that is essentially a cash-grab

@@beowulfzz the only benefit is that if you have your accounts linked you can have memberships on both for the price of one. I have definitely been playing pw a lot more than classic because other than trading, there is no incentive to play. Plus, the economy is absolutely fucked if you do the math for how many diamonds people charge for some items. I don’t even like trading because of it. 800 diamonds for a single black long is over $200 usd of in game currency. Now imagine a pink headdress for 65 solids, that’s 13,000 usd of in game currency.
Apparently AJC's code is getting rewritten? Because of flash dieing they were no longer able to update it. So far they have done some of it apparently. Code takes years to write though :( so it could be forever. At this point it's not worth it to find coders and pay them for years to make it work. It's too bad Wildworks has fallen from it's OG glory.
The thing is even with outsourcing the game being rewritten to other developers that might come from Nazara, it's still an expensive project that far passes the benefit to any of the companies (in terms of money, anyway)

The least they can do is add html5 to the code so the game is available to browsers again. As a Chromebook user, I cannot play classic at all.

I play both games and tbh I'm not surprised. The amount of players on ajc will no doubt continue to keep getting lower and play wild will keep getting more attention than ever.

honestly, if they created an animal jam 2.0 back in 2020 right after flash shit down i think it’d be more popular, i think it’d be more popular with kids since theyd have big shiny updates maybe once every few months and aren’t dealing with lag every 5 seconds, its just that they waited for the game to pretty much die (legit i’ve only seen traders in ajc and barely anyone else) to switch to better engine when they probably wouldn’t be getting any good revenue after so long X_X

To me, it was a bad business move from the start. They already do not bother to change a lot of the issues in the current Animal Jam and honestly the only reason i play the game a couple times a year is for the nostalgia. Ever since Feral I do not trust Animal Jam will make a game in the full best interests of the players when I believe they are greedy and would fill any other game they make with microtransactions or completely shut the game down when they do not see immediate profit from it. Even if they did release it and it did get somewhat popular, once they see more profit, they will shut the original version down.

im sort of glad clark is off thee team after the flop that was cinder.... took a totally normal game and shafted it and i lost basically all my faith in him lol; i would hate it if they had turned ajc into the same thing, but i honestly wouldn't mind the ability to just outright purchase things like spiked collars in game (would remove the need for the black market, too!)
Animal jam should have never made any promises,that they can’t keep to,make all the player base angry.😡 all the content is locked behind a paywall,subscription which all the adults won’t be allowed,the children to buy them because of inflation,compensation to other games that I play is pay once and you don’t have to pay again, I can name one game is a horse online game called star stable if you buy once of their members ship you can get free story quest up date and free star coins with out need to pay for star coins unless you are a free player,to see if you like to play Long term or stick to being a free player until you have a job when you hit that age,or if you are want to get a horse now then your very restricted by only stopping the story quest and the beautiful horse.
They even shut down feral for the nft game.

AFAIK a developer who worked on some exploit programs for the game started working on a Private Server for the game but I haven’t heard much since it was announced or if it’s something still being worked on.
