For everyone quoting "everyone is so creative", a dump cake is an actual thing and it's actually good lol. My grandma used to make them all the time, and it's similar to what this lady did but a bit more to it. Pineapple, walnuts, coconut, cherries, yellow cake mix, and butter. It may look and sound questionable but it's an easy and tasty dessert for anyone willing to try it 😂

Doesn’t need it here. It comes together as it bakes. Especially w all that melted butter on top!? She used 2 sticks in the cake and another on top in large pats. Crazy amount of butter. It’s a dump cake. They all work like that. If you have to mix it, I’d use the handle of a wodden spoon, just to ribbon in, the batter a little more.

@celtdoggy, I try & use reduced amounts of sugar, oil etc to any baked recipes I make. Most recipes call for way more sugar than it needs to have. I substitute apple sauce with a certain amount of sugar as well. I use organic raw cane sugar too. It's a little more expensive but, much healthier than all white sugar. 😮😂

I cooked at the firehouse for years for crew of up to 20 or so hard working firemen on 24-36 hour shifts. This was a station favorite desert because it was easy to make, would hang in the oven if we got a call before desert and was great reheated at 3 AM in the morning with ice cream and hot coffee after a late night fire.

2 nights ago the house next door burned up but the firefighters did a fantastic job . At around 5:30 AM it flared back up and i called and they fixed it .
I was firefighter trained in the military and i know it happens, nobody's fault .

@@noreply3424 Being a firehouse cook is a great job....you never have to do the dishes. But those of us who did a lot of cooking at busy firehouses always tried to find meals that would still be good if they had to be reheated several times or reheated four or five hours after they were supposed to be eaten. The bells and station tones always seemed to know when the shift was about to sit down to a nice grilled steak and baked potatoes or some other meal that wouldn't keep. We also had the task of trying to teach the rookies (those just out of the recruit academy and new to the fire service) how to cook. It was part of their probationary training at many stations. We would start with boiling hot dogs and eggs and move forward from there. I was always searching cookbooks in the early days, and the Internet and Food Network in later years, for new and different recipes for the shift. I always tried new recipes on my family before I sprung them on the shift. If a new recipe crashed and didn't do well, the cook was liable to find himself hanging in the hose tower duct taped to a piece of hose a few feet above the ground by an irate shift. Generally, though, firefighters are pretty easy to cook for. Lots of meat and potatoes and enough food to feed a small army would usually do the trick. Most shifts also sported firefighters who had single "specialty" dishes they would cook on demand. Usually one of the shift of Italian descent would lay on a huge lasagna once a month. The Irish firefighters were always good for a great corned beef and cabbage with Irish Soda Bread or a huge Irish Stew. Given how much time we spent in the fire houses, a shift becomes as tight as any family. We shared weekends, holidays and bad weather days together....days when extra shifts were mandated for snow or hurricanes, etc..... My memories of coming in to the station at 3 AM on Thanksgiving morning to start the Thanksgiving dinner and then spending the holiday with the shift are as memorable as those spent with my family.....albeit a lot more rowdy, rough and tumble. You get really close to men and women that you spend that much time with and whose lives depend on each other a dozen times a shift. Truly, the greatest job in the world and I feel honored to have served with all those heroes.

My old college roommates and their wives (girlfriends at the time) were introduced to it by me and ask if we’re going to have dump cake for dessert whenever we have them over for dinner 😂
P.S. I usually do a pineapple-peach version using butter recipe cake mix and eat it warm with French vanilla ice cream 🤤

Guys, I know it feels satisfying to be sarcastic and judgey online but this is obviously an indulgent dessert that's meant to be shared with a crowd. I've made a few during Autumn for various events but I will sometimes swap one can of pineapple for a can of cranberries, etc. The trick is to have another pan underneath so the bottom doesn't cook faster than the top and burn.

God bless you guys. You put the thin metal pan on a cookie sheet. This keeps it from accidentally collapsing and badly burning someone. I use 1 can of crushed pineapple, 1 can of blueberry pie filling with yellow cake mix, and I will either melt one stick of butter or slice into pads and lay them out even. My mother-in-law used mixed fruit with extra cherries. You can make it your own.😊

I used cherry pie filling over pineapple then yellow cake mix and add pecans and then the butter cut up into pats all over. I find it funny people comments about this cake but alot of cakes even from scratch have alot of sugar and butter. You can only eat this or any other cake in moderation

My mom makes "cobbler" this way with cans of peaches, a cup of bisquick, sugar and butter.
She does the same with rhubarb and fresh strawberries. Heavenly!
