Yikes. I was born in Detroit but lived all my 70 years in the Detroit suburbs and I wouldn’t live in any of those cities. I’d go for Berkley. Plenty of starter houses, great schools and wonderful downtown. It’s next to Royal Oak and close to Ferndale and 15 minutes to the stadiums and art museums in Detroit. It’s also a safe, walkable community.
Grew up in R.O. ,have lived here in Pennsylvania almost 50 years, I do not say I’m from Detroit, I just say I’m from the first large suburb heading north from 8 mile. Everybody here knows 8 mile from MM’s movie.

Have to disagree about affordable.. I like it here but Macomb county traffic sucks. Terrible MDOT construction planning. Skelator doesn't know wtf he is doing

I am convinced that road construction and repair in SE Michigan is a complete scam! Planning, Material, and overall quality is complete crap.
