Hey folks! Here's my take on the Eterna Forest theme from Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. This is one of my personal favourites from Sinnoh and I'm so glad to have finally got to arranging it!
Thank you! I had the same feeling working on it 😁 Pearl was probably the game I played most as a kid. I played a lot of the previous generations but my gameboy colour and advance were shared with my brothers, when the DS came out we were old enough to save up for our own. Me and my middle brother saved up all of our birthday and Christmas money, he ended up getting Diamond and I got Pearl. I played the heck out of that game!
Yay another Pokémon orchestrator like me! Just had your video's recommended! The production here is amazing - really open; I feel like I can see the stage this is recorded on. The flute and violin performances are especially good - are these samples or recordings? What's the rhythmic instrument - brushed cymbals or something? It's got a great 'water splashing' vibe that works so well for this track. Great stuff!
Thank you! Everything is sampled, the flute is from CineWindsCore and the solo strings are from Spitfire Audio's BBC Symphony Orchestra. The light percussion is a combination of castanets and guiro with a healthy amount of reverb.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I have been contemplating whether to upload arrangements to Spotify. The complication is that I need to pay licencing fees for each track uploaded which adds up quickly, so if I do start uploading tracks it will likely just be my more recent arrangements rather than my entire backlog.
Would be cool if other than simply orchestrating them you'd change the melody too based on this style. The way it is here is decent by itself, but really pointless and forgettable. I'd rather listen to the original than this, and have no reasons to relisten to it. Pretty sure even the anime somehow arranges things up so that the games' music sounds more appropriate for the situation. This sounds as bland as LGPE per say, useless orchestration on a melody that didn't mean to have it, which brings to the loss of the melody itself.Although that has to be differentiated from the synth-like orchestra of the 3ds games, which is well managed and uses really good and surprising instruments, rather than a generic orchestra. I don't wanna be too harsh though, it is slightly better than lgpe. Also, the rain was a nice and unique touch. Would've been better if it stayed and as strong as the start.
I think the orchestration still makes it sound much better than what came out of the DS's crusty speakers. But yeah, a more substantial rearrangement would be even better.
