- OLD SCHOOL SMOTHERED TURKEY NECKS IN A DUTCH OVEN
I love Dutch ovens
They are an awesome kitchen appliance
You can do all the cooking in one pot
8 pieces turkey NECKS(cut up )(4 whole turkey necks)
1 whole onions sliced
4 cups chicken stock
1/4 vegetable oil
2 tablespoons chopped garlic
Season turkey cavenders seasonings, old school shake, and granulated garlic
add vegetable oil to dutch oven
Gentle flour necks and brown in Dutch oven
Remove brown chicken and place aside
In Dutch oven Saute onions and garlic
Add 4-6 tablespoons flour to onions and garlic and cook until medium brown color
Add 4 cups chicken stock or water
Cook an additional 5 minutes until flour taste is gone
Season to taste with salt and pepper
Add to turkey necks back into the Dutch oven and cook in oven until tender at 350 degrees
for 2 to 2 1/2 hours
You can use this cooking method for chicken and pork chops
If you dont have a dutch oven ,you can use a regular roasting pan

When we were growing up, and money was tight, my mother would make this particular dish that would last us for several days! She would go and buy a few pounds of chicken necks! She would boil them with the holy trinity and garlic! When they were almost done, she would add rice! She would serve us this with a salad and saltine crackers!! To drink a big glass of Kool-aid! I hated eating it but it filled our bellies a many of times! Another trick of hers when money was tight, for a Sunday Dinner, she cooked a big pan of dressing with turkey tails! She served greens, candied yams, and some type of peas (black eyed, purple hull, or fields with snaps)! I know how to cook when money is tight! We just didn't realize how blessed we were, because some of our neighbors didn't have anything to eat! My mother would offer them something to eat or drink! I thank the Good Lord for my parents and how they raised us! 🤔🤨🧐😢✌️❤🙏
DIRTY FLOUR??? My grandmother and mom made gravy the same way! My grandma live to be 96 and my mom 84! I'm in my 50s and make gravy the same way. That's just a mess. My friend accidentally put nutmeg in her cornbread dressing and we ate it! 😂 This meal looks amazing. I love turkey necks. Have a blessed Sunday and a great week. 🙏🏾
My grandmother made it that way & lived to be 104 years old , mother made it like that & I make it the same way !
That looks delicious.
@@dolly24242 Exactly! I believe if we get back to eating what we were brought up on we would be healthier. Now a days you can't eat this or that and that "DIET" food is probably the problem. I know I was a lot healthier and energetic when I ate what I grew up on. We just have to eat it in moderation like back in the day.
@@diamondjackson1230 "I agree with you & I had more energy as well !"
OMG! Dirty Flour?? My grandmother And Mother cooked this way! I’m 72, and Never got sick! The Heat kills all so called germs! We get salmonella from uncooked meat, juices, and not cooking to the correct temperature!! Yay Chef Jeffrey!!❤🎉😊
Happy Sunday Chef Jeffrey, Another scrumptious recipe this morning. {Psalm 118:24} This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice & be glad in it! Amen? Have a blessed day OSSF family!
Good morning everyone!! Man when I tell you I got my good laugh in this morning 😅😅🤣🤣!! Chef Jeff got me over hear rolling. ( Honey he's going to kill somebody with that dirty flour!)

My grandmother raised me and guess what, we didn't waste jack so don't know what dirty flour is! It is a waste in this expensive economy I will do as I was raised to and use every bit of every resource I need to and that includes "seasoned" flour. You do a great presentation and you are appreciated Chef
Looks like Sunday home cooking amazing!

LOOKS DELICIOUS
Delicious food/meal; I wish I was your neighbor!😂😂😂
Hey Chef's Jeffrey that look delicious yummy 😋😋🤤🤤
Thank you 😋
Everything looks great. I never cooked necks this way but I like them. I always boiled them.I will be changing that.
And may I also say that I've never heard or had smothered turkey necks. To go one better, I never ever thought to put flour on them. Ive only ever boiled them for stock or stuffing. Learn something new every single day that God brings...
That is too funny, 🤣🤣 best gravy is the residue from the bottom of the pan/pot and the flour from the shaken meat 😊😋
Here you go A-GAIN...Turkey Necks, thee other absolute 💯 SOUL FOOD HIDDEN GEM...So I finally got Neckbone-ville out of my system, so delicious, and I'm thinking Turkey Necks. I'm gonna cook them in the Instant Pot, for quick results. Thanks Chef for the inspiration.
Good morning Chef Jeffery 👋. Getting ready to go to church 😁👍♥️🙏🙏. Have a blessed day ! Turkey necks are my fav! 😋😋😋♥️. The sad thing is I can’t find turkey necks at the stores I go to. My husband doesn’t like turkey 🦃 he’s a ham man. So I’m out of luck. 🤷🏻♀️

Hey Chef 👋🏼. It's nap time 😴
Hello Chef Jeffrey!!
Yes, that is a delicious Sunday meal. Enjoy your day. Cheers!! ♥️😋
I learned how good turkey necks were from making giblet gravy! But, oh this way looks so much better! Chef Jeffrey, you bring me back to the Best Southern Cooking that I remember!! In my youth, I married a “Yankee”, as my dad Always called him, and learned to cook the Pennsylvania Dutch way ( many recipes I still use today), but there is Nothing like Old School Soul Food! I would rather watch you than Prime Time TV! I hope to meet you and shake your hand someday! ❤😊
I just love ❤ you Chef Jeffrey!!! Happy Sunday...

I look foward to your instant pot recipes , I have an instant pot that I don't use enough.
Up here in MA, turkey necks are $2.99/lb. I scored some marked down to $.99/lb and made a bunch of gravy. Delicious!! Ghotta be opportunistic!!
Never had turkey necks looks so good and full of flavor thanks Chef Jeffrey for this recipe.
This is good eating!!! Thank you for the recipe!!!
Very well done, I like that 🌸
Find a old Weber kettle are a look a like brand and lay the lid on the ground and dig a circle till the whole grill with no legs set in the ground lay rock or gravel in the hole and the set the grill in the hole cut a small hole in the side of the grill so you can add wood chips use a piece of gutter or cheap pipe cover with dirt around the sides this thing will cook like a oven you wrap.meat anything in foil or wet banana leaves and leave it overnight and meat will slowly smoke .Have a small shovel to clean it out .The cooker will last forever.THe lid will barely be visible but it works great.you can build tongs for the lid .
Happy Sunday Chef Jeffrey!👋🏽 Them smothered turkey necks look delicious!👌🏽😋😋😋 Dirty Flour Lady probably unsubscribed by now.😂😂😂 This past Thanksgiving when I was making my sweet potato pies, I almost put poultry seasoning in the mix because I thought it was my nutmeg.😂😂😂 Thank God I stopped for a second.🤦🏽♀️
