This song is built in with a lot of drama and emotion, it takes the right singer to accomplish it. Nilsson won the Grammy the following year for Best male pop vocal
This song is legendary. It has brought grown men to tears with it's pure, pristine and passionate performance. There is no telling how many lovers were converted to soul mates while listening to this song back in the day . Harry had a voice unparalleled in the industry . Right up there with Jeff Lynn from ELO, and Freddie Mercury. and yes even Simon and Garfunkel.
More Nilsson please! ❤. When the Beatles were asked what their favorite band was, they said Nilsson. The whole album is great. Any Nilsson is good Nilsson. ❤
This song has always been one of my all-time time favorites. It became so much more to me when my husband died 3 years ago. Every time I hear it, I cry. Like now.
Another great one from him is Everybody's Talkin at Me. It was used in the movie Midnight Cowboy with Dustin Hoffnan and Jon Voight. Another side to Nisson is Lime in the Coconut, a kooky fun song. That was in the movie Practical Magic and probably others before that. Hello from sunny Florida 🌞🌴
Harry Nilsson is a singer songwriter who had his biggest success in the late 60's-70's. He has a lot of great songs such as "Everybody's Talkin'", "Me & My Arrow", "The Puppy Song", "The Moonbeam Song", "I Guess The Lord Must Be In New York City", "Jump Into The Fire", "Spaceman", "Coconut". Harry wrote the song "One" which was a big hit for Three Dog Night in 1969.
NILSSON SSHHMILLSON ❤ he was simply a GENIUS, THIS is THE definitive version! Died much too young, and good friends with John Lennon. ❤❤❤ You should deep dive into Pete Hamm and the tragedy of Badfinger.
I bought this album when I was a teenager and it remains one of my favorites. Very eclectic- the silly "Coconut" song, the sweet "Moonbeam Song" and the hard rock "Jump Into the Fire". He didn't write this, but he has written many other great songs recorded by others including "One" (is the loneliest number) which was a hit by Three Dog Night.
I hear these songs & see your reaction as I think OMG I forgot about this song or this singer. We had so much magnificent music. Its a shame people want flash & sex appeal over talent these days. 67 y/o in Florida.
Ooooo this song gave me such an appreciation for this man. The first time I ever heard it, I remember thinking how desperate his voice sounded. You could hear it so clearly, he was in so much agony. When the music swells on the second chorus, my whole body is wracked with his pain, I feel it in my toes. LOL❤❤❤
This was my favorite song back then when it came out - I was 9-10 years old, and got a lot of music from WABC radio in a distant NYC. Another one from around that time was Neil Young's "Heart Of Gold".
okay I didn't recognize what song this was going to be from the title and artist or even the wiki! then those first 4 piano notes play and ohhhhh, Sal is gonna fall out of his chair! Great choice, Sue! Banger for sure. TY Sal!
Harry Nilsson's voice, imho, is just one of the best in the world. He had many song's but ya have to go looking for them. There's a YT video of "A Little Touch of Schmilsson in the Night", he sing's a lot of old standards. He wanted to do them while his voice was at the top of his game...and it was. I encourage you to watch so you can see how melodic his voice was. Some others I like are Everybody's Talkin, Me and my Arrow, Remember, The Moonbeam Song, Good Old Desk and The Puppy Song. Some were quirky and lighthearted, others bring out the melancholy, but what ever you feel, one must admit his stunning vocals. Miss you, Harry.
This song has always made ME want to take Harry back, and obviously I didn't have any involvement in any of this, being like, three years old when it came out, lol. Don't ya just wanna hug him? There there, Harry. One of the saddest songs ever.
always loved this song. Harry Nilsson does an absolutely fantastic job on it.. Badfinger is a pretty good band, could have been way bigger than they were, if it wasn't for their tragic demise... terrible shame!!! nice reaction... thank you........
I love Harry Nilsson! Some of my favs from him, "I Guess the Lord Must Be In New York City", "Remember (Christmas)", "The Moonbeam Song", "Everybody's Talkin" and "The Puppy Song". I'd love to hear your reaction to any of them.
That whole album is great. You might have heard "Jump Into The Fire" in Goodfellas. He also sang the theme song to Midnight Cowboy ("Everybody's Talkin') and he wrote "One" (Is The Loneliest Number), which was a big hit for another group, but his verison is excellent too. Harry is very cool: the more you get to know him, the more you'll like him.
There is an obscure little known movie called Son Of Dracula starring Nilson ( as Draculas son ) Ringo Starr ( as Merlin the magician ) with a cameo by Eric Clapton as a preacher of a Rock & Roll church . I said all of that to get to this . This song was performed by Nilson in the movie. If you can find a copy of the movie , its worth watching. I saw it back in the 70s when I was in high school on the island of Guam.
Both were recording and Harry asked if they would check out his cover. They were blown away. Pete Ham was an astounding songwriter/musician. Breaks my heart he passed so young. He would have had a massive career. Joey Molland got pissy about Pete getting so much attention, especially from George Harrison. Pete wrote "Take It All" in response.
Check out Harry Nilsson’s album “The Point”. It’s about The Land of Point where everyone and everything has a point; except a young boy, Oblio, who has a round head. There is a point to the story.
My gosh I forgot about The Point! Which is crazy because I was obsessed with it as a kid long before I was aware of Harry otherwise. Me and My Arrow, dum dum dum dum de dum baby!
Nice, you're back with good old music! If this is your first with Harry Nilson you should jump right into Everybody's Talkin', my favorite of all favorites!! ❤
Produced by the recently departed producer extraordinaire, Richard Perry, who also produced Carly Simon's "No Secrets" and "Hotcakes" albums, Leo Sayer's "Endless Flight", Ringo Starr's classic "Ringo" album, as well as Barbra Streisand and the Pointer Sisters' 80s recordings. "Nilsson Schmillson" was just one of the fantastic and tasteful albums with this genius at the helm.
Badfinger were signed up by The Beatles, on their Apple label, when Harry Nilsson first heard this song he was convinced it was written by Lennon & McCartney
This is my 2nd favorite Nilsson recording - Numero Uno in my book is REMEMBER, the 2nd track off the Nilsson Son of Schmilsson album. Nobody reacts to it.
He's so good. You'll be happy if you follow this musical rabbit hole. He was everywhere in the 70s including doing themes for movies and TV (Everybody's Talking and Best Friend). His song Coconut is a hoot and you may have heard it over the years.
Harry has a penchant for songs many find offputting…one line jokes, etc. For best mainstream, try Jump into the Fire, Lime in the Coconut. Hidden gem of a power ballad, Remember Christmas. Best off bizarre song, I’d Rather be Dead; most well known off the track song, You’re Breaking My Heart.
So here's a few Nilsson hits .. 1) "Jump into the Fire" from Nilsson Schmilsson '71, a rocker with a good solo & riffs; 2) "Everybody's Talking" .. Nilsson's 1st top 10 hit. There's a couple to start. Enjoy😊
Sadly missed, a voice for the heart. My two favourite album's of all time, one I played for my children regularly when they were little was The Point, a story album and animated childrens film. Next a nostalgic and incredibly relaxing balm for the mind in tumult is A Little Touch of Shmilsson ( pronounced shhh ) in the Night. Songs from the early 20th century with original lyrics. Nilsson was a singers singer, a voice recognisable in one note, once heard will stay with you forever.
This song is built in with a lot of drama and emotion, it takes the right singer to accomplish it. Nilsson won the Grammy the following year for Best male pop vocal
Wow! Talk about a blast from the past. This song was everywhere during my childhood. Another song is 'Everybody's Talking'.
Jump Into the Fire will shake it up for you; he has range!
This song is legendary. It has brought grown men to tears with it's pure, pristine and passionate performance. There is no telling how many lovers were converted to soul mates while listening to this song back in the day . Harry had a voice unparalleled in the industry . Right up there with Jeff Lynn from ELO, and Freddie Mercury. and yes even Simon and Garfunkel.
when he hits that note! man this one takes me back. love love love this song. RIP Mr Nilsson
More Nilsson please! ❤. When the Beatles were asked what their favorite band was, they said Nilsson. The whole album is great. Any Nilsson is good Nilsson. ❤

Yes, his second best song IMO
this song is so dramatic and beautiful
Haunting song that gives me the chills every time. Love Badfinger, but Harry Nilsson absolutely owns this song.
Your almost there Salvo, about to hit 100K. Way to go!.
Jump into the Fire and Everybody's Talkin'... two more amazing songs.
This was a one-take lead vocal...amazing!
Harry is so awesome as is this song. Voice of velvet strength. Love your reaction!
It's one of those songs you just can never forget.

Badfinger story is a dive into tragedy.
Nilsson was a flawless singer. He laid down the lead track in one take. He did his own backup because no one could sing like him.
Salvo, this is one of my all time favorite songs. The fact that you love it is awesome! So glad you listened to it.
One of those songs you can feel every word.
Magic. I love his song “into the fire.” Another magic ballad is the long album version Eric Carmen “All by myself”. His piano is fantastic.
A favorite!
One of the most beautiful voices ❤
"Everybody's talkin" is a great choice
I hear these songs & see your reaction as I think OMG I forgot about this song or this singer. We had so much magnificent music. Its a shame people want flash & sex appeal over talent these days. 67 y/o in Florida.
The whole album is awesome
Wow, I haven't heard this in ages. ❤

Love Harry Nilsson ... thank you!
One of the best albums of all time. !!!
My parents loved Harry Nilsson ❤I grew up on this!

Such a beautiful song!! It got my heart in 1971 as freshman in high school
This song has always made ME want to take Harry back, and obviously I didn't have any involvement in any of this, being like, three years old when it came out, lol. Don't ya just wanna hug him? There there, Harry. One of the saddest songs ever.
Open Your Window----shows off his vocals beautifully.
always loved this song. Harry Nilsson does an absolutely fantastic job on it.. Badfinger is a pretty good band, could have been way bigger than they were, if it wasn't for their tragic demise... terrible shame!!! nice reaction... thank you........
Another great Nilsson song is "Jump into the Fire".
Great Song from an amazing singer!
Love Nilsson! He is truly an artist!
His range is amazing. It comes at you out of left field.
You need to read the tragic story of Badfinger..So heartbreaking.
So was Harry's life. He basically drank himself to death. Sad.
This song got me through more than one heartache in high school. (No, I was not an overly dramatic young man!)
I love Harry Nilsson! Some of my favs from him, "I Guess the Lord Must Be In New York City", "Remember (Christmas)", "The Moonbeam Song", "Everybody's Talkin" and "The Puppy Song". I'd love to hear your reaction to any of them.

One of the best ballads of the 70's
If you haven't done Badfinger yet, you may like "Day After Day"
A Richard Perry production - brilliant!

Interesting! I want to try to find this, thanks

I love his song 'Everybody's Talking' & play it a lot, but this is so emotional & so brilliant, the quality of his singing makes it a classic.
My kids loved the old animated move The Point sung by Harry and narrated by Ringo Starr.
My senior year in H.S. everyone had this album, and I still have mine❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Great reaction Salvo. Thx
Nilsson was amazing...what a unique, special talent!
My favorite of his is Talk About Your Troubles. He did an animated movie featuring his music, titled The Point. Worth seeing, Ringo Star is in it.
My gosh I forgot about The Point! Which is crazy because I was obsessed with it as a kid long before I was aware of Harry otherwise. Me and My Arrow, dum dum dum dum de dum baby!
@FavoriteMovieDate I first saw it when my daughter was little. I fell in love with it. Now I keep it on Prime to watch now and then.
I’m so glad I got to watch you discover this wonderful ballad from my youth. ❤
Great reaction to a really good artist. I bought Schmilson and Son of Schmilson LPs back in the day. I loved them both! Thank you, Salvo!
Nice, you're back with good old music! If this is your first with Harry Nilson you should jump right into Everybody's Talkin', my favorite of all favorites!! ❤
So glad you enjoyed my recommendation. You need to follow this up with "Everybody's Talking" - another absolute banger from Mr Nilsson.
…put the lime in the coconut…🎶
"called the doctor -- woke him up -- said doctor, ain't there nothin' I can take..."

Theme song to my junior prom 1978
I still have this album. Sadly I can't listen to it as it was damaged more that 20 years ago. I love this version of the song..
The master is the only way to describe this version!!!
You are very charming and thoughtful.
Excellent album.
9 y.o. Me Could NOT get enough of this song! Played the 45 to dea*th :-D
Torch song for sure. Always made me sad. Great song, for sure. He died way too young.
Badfinger were signed up by The Beatles, on their Apple label, when Harry Nilsson first heard this song he was convinced it was written by Lennon & McCartney
Jump Into the Fire is another cool one. Coconut was hit in 1972 and has a slow island vibe.
I was a small child when this hit so didn't relaye to the words. But it was my favorite! It gave me goosebumps.
🇬🇧
RIP Harry🙏💔
Harry Nilsson: "Everybody's Talking At Me"👌
Air Supply did a version as well. Excellent!! ❤
Seriously one of the best songs ever.
I can’t even begin to listen to Celine’s version of this lol. Badfinger are also freaking awesome.
Oh gosh I actually forgot about this song. There was just such a buffet of music in my youth. Thanks for the reminder❤
Thanks! More Harry please!
Nil-sun Sha-milsun! I actually love the original version too.
Nilsson has an amazing biography.
Mama Cass and Kieth Moon both died in Harry's apartment.
Never heard that before
Jump Into the Fire is great, in Goodfellas near the end with helicopter scene! Coconut Song too!
Awesome song to react to ❤❤❤ Come on 100k 😊😊😊
Heart covered this song on their Magazine album. A fun one is Coconut.
All of the voices in this song are Harry Nilsson! He over dubbed all backing vocals!
Tragic story what happened to Apple band Badfinger.
Paul Williams great songwriter as well as performer in his own right wrote this.
This is my 2nd favorite Nilsson recording - Numero Uno in my book is REMEMBER, the 2nd track off the Nilsson Son of Schmilsson album. Nobody reacts to it.
"Jump Into The Fire".

Jump Into the Fire (full version!!)

Man Sal ... U r on a roll .. another great hit with such emotion. Another fave of mine as well. Lets go ... What's next? 😉 🤘🏼
So here's a few Nilsson hits ..
1) "Jump into the Fire" from Nilsson Schmilsson '71, a rocker with a good solo & riffs;
2) "Everybody's Talking" .. Nilsson's 1st top 10 hit.
There's a couple to start. Enjoy😊
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Even the group HERAT cover too
